Samsung galaxy note2 sgh-i317m help/advice needed! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey guys. I recently bought a note 2 and it's peeing me right off. First off it had the annoying WiFi probe which I fixed but I'm noticing it never connects to 4g and it specifically says 4g is turned on. When I had my iPhone it never really dropped below 4g so I can't see it been something to do with the area I love in etc.
Only thing I can think of is that, it's not working because it's a canadian handset and I'm using it in the UK.
I'm using it on EE. does anyone have any recommendations to try before I loose faith in it all together and flog it?
All help much appreciated.
Thanks

[Q] 4G Signal Issues

Hey everyone,
Thanks in advance for helping me out, first of all.
So, for the past few weeks my VZW Galaxy Nexus has not been getting a 4G signal. This is odd, because my mother recently got the same phone, and gets full 4G signal in the exact same spot that I only get 3G. Same radios (FF02/FG02), same Android version (4.1.1), only differences is I have unlocked bootloader and root and she doesn't. I don't get it.
Thanks for your help,
-Owen
PS This is around Tacoma, WA, if that helps.

Switching from evo lte to sg3...happy?

I know a lot of ppl have switched from the evo lte to the sg3 due to the lte connectivity issue. I have the opportunity to do the same this afternoon and was just wondering if anyone else has done it and if so are you happy you did? Does the sg3 really keep and hold lte connection better? I've been an HTC/sense person since the og evo and I'm willing to drop it if the lte is truly that much better. Not sure how I feel about TW but then again there is always a sip for that. Thanks so much

I am in the same boat as you. I'm meeting up with someone tomorrow to buy a gs3. I have gotten a few good opinions from people that have owned both phones and are very happy that they switched. I feel like I am making the right move, at the same time it's a hard switch. I also have been an htc guy since the og evo, I had one of the first galaxy phones and I hated it, the gs3 seems to be a sweet phone though. I think Samsung has fixed things like reception and gps. I am going to miss Sense though.
I have both phones and there is a definite difference in LTE reception. The s3 connects to LTE anywhere inside my house. With the Evo I have to take it outside to get a connection and even then its not as stable and as soon as I walk back inside the connection drops.
You do know that if you complain to sprint and they can replicate the lte connection issue they will swap the lte for the sg3. That's what I doing. Talked to sprint supervisor for twenty minutes last night he said the corporate store would just swap it. No need to buy a sg3 unless you just want both phones.

Well I'm in Denver, we don't have lte here yet so I can't really go that route. I'm more fed up with a poorly designed proximity sensor and bad multitasking. I used to buy htc because they worked correctly right out of the box and I feel like they dropped the ball on this one. I'll either sell my evo or give it to the wife since she has a evo design.
I made the switch just over week ago and I am happy I did. There are certain things about the EVO LTE that I like better. (Email app, Camera) but the multitasking on the GS3 is way better. For example. I stream Pandora in the car almost 100% of the time. If I had to take a call and the call lasted more than 2 minutes, Pandora would have to reload the station or I would have to manually restart the app. On the GS3 it resumes music right where it left off. Sense would occasionally reload and sometimes lag. I have had no reloads or lag on the GS3.
LTE connection is better also. GS3 connects to LTE signal faster when I enter an LTE area, and it has LTE signal where the EVO does not even pick it up. I still have the EVO active on another line, and I have done LTE comparisons over the past week when I am out in the car. GS3 was a good switch for me.
Make the switch it will be the best decision you ever made I had the evo had many problems went thru 3 different phones so glad I switched to the s3 much easier to root a lot more development for the phone if thats your kind of thing, the only thing I like better on the Evo is if you wanted to print a PDF document you can do it with the stock rom the Galaxy s3 will only do printing to a Samsung printer unless you buy a after market app like printbot, or something like that doesn't work as good as stock on evo.

Agreed make the switch...I had two evo lte's gave mine to my son when i got a gs3...I called sprint and they swapped out the two evos (my wife and sons)..now we all have the gs3 and couldn'tbe more happier.. the evos just didn't hold 4g lte at all. When I took them to the sprint store they did a side by side comparison in signal and swapped them out immediately. .loving this phone. ..

I carried an EVO for 2 years. Loved HTC. Sammy had let me down with a few smart phones, both android and Winmo. I went through 2 different EVO LTE phones, and had terrible reception problems with both. Full bars with EVO, zero bars, no signal, and wouldn't switch to roaming with the LTE. Both were active. Checked out my buddies GS3 one day to make sure that the GPS and cellular radios were good. Bought one about 3 weeks after launch. Had to wait for BB to get the pebble blue in stock. Most wonderful phone that I have ever owned. I thought that my EVO was irreplaceable.....I was wrong. Handed EVO down to wife. She wants my Sammy, just as much as my daughter.
LOVE MY GS3!

My wife has been asking the same question she has the LTE and I have the S3 she likes it but she gets upset that my phone will connect to 4G and hers won't even when sitting them side by side. She is probably going to be making the switch tomorrow.
Everyone's making the switch tomorrow it seems... Is it because the GS3 is going to be 50$?
How did you guys get them to swich the let for thr SG3, ive been Having the lte since the dayvit came out and have been trying to figure out a way to get sprint to swap it for the sg3

No 4G HSPA+ IN Northern Metro Detroit area

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue around the States.
My issue:
I can get an LTE signal with no issue, but when I leave the LTE reception area I cannot get any data signal, not even edge.
I thought I had a defective phone because the online chat support person said go to the local store and swap out my SIM card. I did this in the AM and when I got home I noticed it was still not getting any data signal. I went back and swapped phones and the new phone is having the same issue.
My next step is to call AT&T and see if they can look in to the local antennas and see if they are the root cause.
The good news is that I traded the grey phone in for a white version! I came from a white GS3 GT-I9300.

That is really strange. I live in the Detroit area as well. I have been around town and have had consistent LTE coverage, occasionally I have dropped back to HSPA+(even edge). I have noticed a couple times I would not have any data at all (kinda strange for a phone not even 2 weeks old and I haven't switched roms yet). I usually just reboot and its back. Have you tried to use data while on the phone? It should fall back to HSPA+ when on a call, if not you may have a defective unit. I just upgraded from a white I-9300 as well:good:
All of a sudden today the HSDPA signal came back today! I'm pretty sure there was a network issue the pay couple of days. I wondering if they were prepping for the holiday break? Anyway the issue appears to have fixed itself.
@jb313 how do you like coming from the 9300? I think is a big improvement. I'm loving the s-pen and larger screen.

Yeah, I had some connectivity issues the last couple days but seems to be better now. I love the Note 2! We finally have LTE! That was the reason for the switch. It either this or get that ATT S3. I wasn't quite sold on the ATT version of the S3 using the Snapdragon dual core, despite watching videos, etc. Then, the screen size. At times I felt the S3 screen could be a little larger- I have not had this complaint with the Note 2!! I love everything about it so far. People look in shock when I show my phone to them- the size is pretty much perfect. I haven't really used the S-Pen though. My fear is that now I won't be able to use a smaller device again!! The 9300 is an awesome phone!! I've had Jellybean on it since September with no issues at all. I am still second guessing if i should put it up on ebay. I may keep it just to give myself perspective on how large the GN2 really is!!

Simple mobile not work?

So I have a Note 2 and I did have an S3, and the S3 was at&t but it was unlocked so it worked. And then I bought this, it was on 4.1.2, downgraded to UVALJ1, unlocked it, and it would work it little areas in the city, but the signal wasn't ever strong, I got 4G once. this is only my 2nd GSM phone so I'm note entirely sure what I'm doing. So if some one could possibly help me get my phone working, I would really appreciate it.

Unlocked AT&T Galaxy Note 4 can't access TMOBILE 4g or 4g LTE

Hey good Android people,
After searching for this topic for an hour I couldn't find anyone with the same problem so I figured I should make a new thread.
I just got a used, unlocked AT&T Galaxy Note 4 N910A running Android 6.0.1. I put in my T Mobile sim and get call and text but no 4g/LTE or mms. Of note, I have my wife's phone in my hand, the exact same version, and she's got lightening fast 4g LTE.
I went in and changed the APN to what TMobile recommends and confirmed it is exactly what my wife's phone is running. I also ran LTE discovery, rebooted the phone and all I continue to get is the "E" icon with up and down arrows. I also keep getting a text from 94183571 that says, "Sorry, this service is not available." Whatever that means.
Please tell me there's a fix, it took forever to find a phone in such good shape. Thanks guys.
Matt from Philly
Can anyone help? I'm desperate!
im in the same boat. i have no explanation but im seriously dying to know as well.
i too have the galaxy note 4 unlocked from att with which i am using tmobile service. i have the exact same issues with blotchy signals and bogus service including the infamous texts from 94183571 which mean absolutely nothing to me besides the fact that they appear out of nowhere at any time. i dont even have to be touching or using my phone at all and i get these messages. who sends them and why? what service is it that they are referring to? how is it that my phone is trying to use a service when its not being used by me at all? how do i stop it? what triggers it in the first place? can anybody offer even a vague or a comically incorrect answer that would point me in the right direction hopefully? if you have any information, please by all means, step forward. it will be greatly appreciated. thank you.
