so i got an update for cwm to 2.5.1.1 and i did a backup of rr1.7, went back to recovery did my usual wipes tried to reinstall and now i cant restore anything at all!! wtf now i cant use my phone what can i do?
i just resolved it, ACD168 helped me. i just downloaded the older version from unrevoked.com and installed it from hboot...everything works now but will not be updating to this version again
What error are you getting?
i saw a message before about a backup failing after updating to the latest clockwork. thats why i didnt install it yet
mine has been doing that too. all mine says is md5 mismatch i think. and onces that happens i can't flash any roms. I will have to wipe my Sd card and start from scratch. my worst fear is that and i get bootloop IM SCREWED cause none of my backups will work.
and yes i have tried backing up in rom manager and in clockwork. and then trying to restore in clock work and in rom manager and they always say mismatch.
and i am trying to restore right after i back up.
Well, I'm doing a backup now. Will let you know how it goes. So far so good, with no errors. Worst case, there's always adb.
error while formatting system, i didnt see nything bad about it b4 i updated so i didnt think thered be a problem but now there is

The only thing I know to try is manually revert back to 2.5.0.5 then recover a previous backup. I imagine you'll have to push it in ADB but I'm no expert.

Backed up with no errors. Formatted and cleared everything with no errors. Now it's installing the ROM. At "copying files." Again, no errors so far. Heading to bed, will report back tomorrow morning.
well what the hell? ive never had any problems before i need some help people! im s-off just took an update from rom manager and now im screwed. im not a dev or anykind of programmer. i can get to recovery and everything but wen i do a restore it says cannot format system, now it says md5 mismatch, and now im trying it again and it gets to restoring system but then just hangs
Ok... so is the update i installed today gonna screw up my phone. I haven't done anything with it yet. Should I hold off doing any backups? Is anyone having luck with 2.5.1.1?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I'm not getting the mismatch error, it's just freezing at MD5
I installed it and updated kernels with it, worked fine.
Upon entering clockwork recovery I was immediately getting errors that said:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcbld0p2 (file exists)
and if I tried to restore a backup I would get stuck at MD5
I downgraded my clockwork to 2.5.0.1 and am now trying another restore. It looked like it was working since it got past MD5 and seemed to restore a few files but then the phone rebooted and not is stuck on the unrevoked splash screen.
This just goes in loops.
Hope someone figures this out because my phone is toast as of now.
This must be a hit and.miss sort of thing because im having no issues

I was getting errors, so I downgraded. Then, I reupgraded after going into recovery and all is good. This version is sweet!

I had downgraded to 2.5.0.1 and after a couple of battery pulls due to freezing up and unrevoked screen I finally got into recovery and now it says v2.5.1.1 - Not really sure how it got back to this version on its own.
Anyway I thought the restore was working but now it's been sitting at htc_wallpaper_small for 5 minutes and hasn't progressed.
Guess I'll downgrade my version again and then do an upgrade.

Do you mean you downgraded your version of recovery? If so how exactly did you do it.
I installed the zip for a lower version and it appears to take but as soon as I reboot back into recovery its back at 2.5.1.1
So it wasn't just me.. I downloaded update, tried installing zip through rm, stopped at "writing boot".

Hi. I tried installing the latest CM9 nightly and when my phone rebooted it was stuck at the FreeXperia logo. I rebooted the phone and tried to get into CWM recovery but couldn't. So I booted into fastboot and installed the boot image from this (I can't like to the rom but it is called cm-9.1.0-zeus.zip) rom. Now I can get into CWM recovery. When ever I try to install the rom I get an error message Status 7. This happens after it says "assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "R800i" etc.
It looks like either my device name on my phone is wrong or the device name for the rom is wrong. I'm pretty sure the rom I downloaded is the right one though. I've installed roms before but never ran into an issue like this so I'm lost. Seeing as I can get in to CWM recovery I reckon I should be able to get it back working again. Would really appreciate some help here.
Cheers.

Downloading flashtool now. Will report back if it works or not. Hopefully it does.
I'm back on stock SE 2.3.3 rom now. Thanks a million, CyberScopes.
I guess I spoke too soon. It seemed like it was working fine with the stock rom. I went to put CM9 on it and everything worked fine apart from it not recognising the baseband. I put on the stock rom again and now it just keeps rebooting. *sigh*

Make sure you now have a compatible kernel and ROM.
Also make sure you have the recommended basebrand. I use .64
Sent from my Xperia Play using xda app-developers app
OK, I'm back on stock and the baseband is recognised. The guide I have been using for installing CM9 is this one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1600833&highlight=cm9+guide). Is there something missing from that guide. I've never had to check if the kernel and rom were compatible. When using fastboot, I use the boot.img from the rom I download.
Flash kernel using flashtool.
Remember to do complete internal wipe and cache wipe.
I figured out why baseband wasn't working on CM the first time. It turns out that the stock rom I was using was an old one and the baseband for that wasn't working on CyanogenMod. I downloaded a newer one, installed that and then stuck CM9 on it and everything is working fine. Phew. Thanks again for the help. Really appreciate it.
Ure welcome. Im glad i helped u.

Hello!
I recently got a Note 2 (GT-N7105)
And for some silly reason wich even disappoints myself i wanted to overclock , well that didn't make sense i know but however i did it! and directly after i installed the required file (I don't remember wich one but it was for 1.8Ghz) after the installing my phone kept showing the boot logo , i tried to use my backup but even after restoring it didnt boot! I cleaned everything wich also cleaned my backup...
I been on it for about 7 hours now trying different roms , kernels , and every file i could find but nothing helps.
I now installed Cyanogenmod using CMW but even that bootloops.
The last thing i could notice is CMW showing me a E: failed to Mount /efs (Invalid argument) Wich makes me worry even more...
I honestly hope there are some good peaple who could help me with this... Finally got a great phone and by stupid mistakes i made it won't work anymore..
I don't care what rom gets on it , Even if its a hello kitty rom u won't hear me complain , If the phone works again i'll be happy!
Not sure if this helps but its a GT-N7105 , i know it had the newest android there was (4. something, i think it was 4.3)
Odin does see the device , My CMW (6.0.4.1) works and Download Mode works.
I hope anybody can help me!
In case you want to help me live wich would be awesome my skype is : chrishendriks92
If it gets fixed i will Offcourse place the solution here.
(The note is not a new one , its used and a few months old , worked 100% before my stupid decisions bricked it)
(so here's a small version)
-Every rom i tried will bootloop , It shows a different boot video/logo everytime tho
-It all happened after i tried a 2.8Ghz Overclock
-i get a EFS error in CMW
-Accidentily i deleted my backup but i don't mind whatever rom gets on it
-Download mode and CMW (6.0.4.1) works

Ok, so what I would do.
I would wipe data through CWM.
Download official ROM from sammobile.com and flash it through Odin.
I hope this will help to get the phone booted.
After that we will worry about imei recovery.

Try mskips toolkit from skipsoft.net. It has a recovery package that should do the trick. There is a thread on it on here but i think it's closed due to Microsoft signature issues

I have the same problem, I'm on 4.3 version and tried to downgrade to 4.1.1 and went back to 4.3, I formatted the system through twrp with NO OS INSTALLED to be sure it is totally cleaned but all the way, I still experiencing reboot issue.
At first I encountered unfortunately systemui has stopped, done rooting and fixing permission but still no luck.
One more thing, I already flashed pit file.

(Update , I tried anything i could but it didnt work out , its going to Samsung Support)

You installed a kernel right? To over clock? First flash new bootloader, then flash stock kernel, then again flash stock rom, do not let the device boot up before you have done all three.

yup I already did that,I flashed stock kernel from http://opensource.samsung.com/.I know reflashing stock rom will delete everything including root.
What I mean is when Im rooted and tried to wipe the phone, SuperSu also deleted.Im wondering that I have a corrupted emmc, It seems that it is not mounted correctly, although I tried to flash a pit file already.

Here's the story:
I'm trying to install CyanogenMod on the AT&T Galaxy S3 SGH-I747, which has the 4.4.2 NC6 touchwiz build on it.
Everything was going fine; I rooted with towelroot, I flashed a clockwork mod recovery. And I downloaded the latest CM build and placed it on an external sd card
When I booted into CWM and tried to install CM, it gave me an error, saying "can't install over incompatible data"
Okay...so I formatted dalvik cache, cache, and I factory reset and tried flashing again. It went a little further in the installation process, but still got an error.
Then, having made a nandroid backup before, I tried to restore the backup, which seemed to work...
Until I rebooted after restore was finished. Everything booted fine, until it got stuck on the AT&t spinning globe screen thing. Then, it just stayed there...
Is there a way to fix this?????? I tried reflashing stock in odin, but that failed (a giant red FAIL at the top). Then I realized that was because you can't downgrade from 4.4.2 to something like 4.1. So I looked for a 4.4.2 tar.md5 to flash in odin, but I couldn't find any.
Please help!
Thanks...
I had similar trouble about a month ago except I was using twrp. Are you using the D2lte file?
Can you still get into recovery?
I'm the furthest thing from good at this stuff but I know the question will be asked.

Yeah, I used the latest M snapshot for the D2lte on get.cm
And yes, if I do the three button combination, I'm still able to boot into ClockworkMod and do stuff.

Where are the files located that you are trying to install?
My trouble came from my micro sd that was in my device. I tried everything and it kept giving me errors to the point that I couldn't even get into the twrp recovery and had to restore with Odin.
My solution was an external otg adaptor. As soon as I loaded cm and gapps from the otg everything went smoothly.

If it's hanging at the boot screen, reboot recovery and factory reset.

I was hoping that someone could help me out with some advice. I'm having a lot of hiccups after installing CM11 (M12) and I thought flashing a newly downloaded and MD5 verified copy might fix some of the problems.
I originally had CWM installed on my e980, but I've recently swapped that out to TWRP 2.8.1.0. The issue that I'm seeing is that every time I try to flash a ROM, TWRP gives me an error that says CM 11 for my e980 isn't compatible with my device, which it's detecting as an LG F310LR (which appears to be a Korean variant).
Can anyone give me some suggestions on how to fix/bypass this? Flashing ROMS in CWM was working fine, but I've had a lot of problems with TWRP. So many in fact that I've reverted to CWM a couple of different times.
Thanks in advance!

The same thing happened to me once , I had to do a full restore with the kdz , and redo everything.
but you can modify the build.prop or something and change it to your variant.
the thing gets messed up by the Unlocker app.

Thanks. I'll try this tonite:

If that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to revert to stock and start over.
