EVT or Cal Error. please change your test device. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Happens every time I open up my camera app (or instagram). The phone is completely stock.
I can't find anything on this topic. Please someone help I have tried everything.
I have tried clearing all camera app data.
I have tried restarting.
I don't see any updates available for my phone.
Tried going into *#0*# and Front cam opens up, but megacam fails.
I'm starting to lean on the idea that this may be a defect.

[Q] PLEASE Help?!?!

I have tried multiple times to flash this dialer but I keep ending up with errors. http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/themes-apps/mod-dialer-aosp-to-google-dialer-odexed-t2526844 The dialer will flash and will work fine but I get the following error: "com.android.phone has stopped." I am running liquidsmooth ROM on T-Mobile galaxy s3. I would really appreciate all the help. By the way I have tried factory reset, fix permissions, clearing cache, and clearing dalvik cache but none have worked. I have even tried to reflash the ROM but it hasn't worked. Please any help is greatly appreciated.
What kind of Errors if any appeared on the Flash process ? Can you grab the log of Recovery Flash ? Its typically in /cache/recovery folder after you boot.
If there weren't any errors then Liquidsmooth Kitkat has the dialer named differently ? More so, that Dialer package is missing needed Libraries ? (Or LS is missing the said Libs)

For the moment it is gone away, after trying it over an over I deleted two .apk's in the zip (TeleService.apk) (TeleService.odex), and flashed it without these apk's. It worked without any error but if it comes up again I will let you know.
Help?!

I spoke too soon, it didn't work. As soon as I dialed there was no dialer so I was not able to end the call or do any other things. I grabbed the flash log from /cache/recovery folder and I'm pretty sure its the this one. If you could help me that would be great. I am not sure if Liquidsmooth Kitkat has the dialer named differently or if its missing libraries. How would I be able to check these? I am using this ROM:http://www.drdevs.com/devs/teamliquid/Nightly/S3_Unified/ the 4/19/2014 one, if thats of any use.
The Log does not seem to show anything out of Ordinary. As I said on PM, post on the Mod's thread to see what others have experienced.
P. S. - Don't fragment the discussion between here and PM. Send a pm asking to look at the thread if I don't respond after 48 hours. Typically I have the threads subscribed.

Sorry about that. I also have another problem: in the google camera the photosphere, panorama and lens blur are all not working. I like this camera but it worked before but in the process of trying to fix my dialer these camera features are not working either.
Again the mismatched or missing libraries of this dialer are breaking other stuff. Post on the Dialer's thread.

I factory reset it and flashed an update with the newest GAPPS but the camera is still having problem. I am unable to use all the google camera features such as photosphere, panorama and lens blur are all not working. Why is this still happening even after a reset? Is there a fix? I have looked for a long time without any success in finding the solution.
Was it working before you played with the Dialer ?

"Unfortunately, Camera has stopped." message, please help!

Hi,
On my LG G3, camera displays the unfortunately camera has stopped message. I cannot access the camera using this application nor through any 3rd party applications. I can however access the front facing camera using snapchat but not the rear. I have tried the method of clearing cached, data then force stop it and reboot. This does not solve the problem. I have also rebooted the phone in safe mode to determine if it was interference from any 3rd party applications however even in safe mode I got the message, which leads me to think maybe a hardware problem. Can anyone offer some advice?? The device is not rooted. I go on holiday next week and was looking forward to taking some good pictures with it too!
Regards
Ajay
did you make any mod for the camera ? like video quality or bitrate ?
if you did your problem is with the permission of the files you changed. it happended to me too.
i decided to reinstall everything since a wipe didn't solve the problem. later i discovered that i forgot to chance the permissions. so the reinstall was unecessary...all i had to do was give the right permission as was stated in the post about the camera mod.

Do you have a 3rd party flashlight app installed? I had a similar issue and backtracked my installed apps a bit. I removed apps that I knew had access to hardware (removing each one at a time and rebooting my phone after each) The 3rd try was my flashlight app. After rebooting, the camera was back to normal. Also... the front camera likely worked because it doesn't access your camera's flash. Just a guess on that last part mind you. Hope this helps.

but a cse flash deletes all apps which he had done and still no luck, seems like a hardware issue to me
I agree. A hardware issue possibly caused by an app that isn't talking the camera flash's language. Just saying... I had the exact same issue less than 12 hrs ago. I see your point though.

Yea man I noticed it ony force closes if your in a conversation or message thread and you hit the home button instead of backing out to the message list then pressing home. It's annoying but it can be worked around. Hoping for a fix
Using Gear S Smartwatch
I have also noticed that the necessary files and plugins to connect the phone to the gear s smartwatch are missing from the 5.1.1 update. I found them on a different XDA thread and installed them manually and now everything works as it should with using the smartwatch for those of you who have one. However, I also noticed with messages app I tried a different approach by dirty flashing 5.1.1 over 5.02 stock and messaging was working fine without ANY force closes. Then I installed everything for my Gear S smartwatch and rebooted. Once I rebooted the messages app began to force close again. I dont know if it is due to reboot like capacitive buttons with haptic feedback, or if it was due to one of the plugins for my smartwatch. If anybody can test it out by dirty flashing then rebooting let me know. Sorry for long post, just trying to help.

You should probably read up on the ROM a bit before flashing, it's clearly stated (and much discussed) in the thread that root is not available.

How to turn haptic feedback back on for capacitive
For those of you who installed the 5.1.1 rom and lost capacitive feedback after reboot like I did. I found something strange which turned the feature back on. Here's a step by step.
Go into play store and install the app called DU BATTERY SAVER
Once installed, open the app and click on the SAVER TAB at the bottom
In the SAVER TAB click on MY MODE and enable it
Then click on the PENCIL next to MY MODE to Edit it
In there you'll find HAPTIC FEEDBACK IS DISABLED. ENABLE IT.
Voila!! your welcome!!

Nexus 5X - Camera crash

Hello, XDA!
I updated to Android 7 OTA a couple of days ago, and today I have experienced lots of Camera app crashes.
After the Camera app crashes, the phone reboots automatically.
I have also tried rebooting the phone is Safe Mode. The Camera app opened for a couple of times and afterwards crashed agian. The phone rebooted again and now the Camera app opens, it shows the image from the front facing camera for about a second and then a dialog box appears that tells that the camera app crashed.
I have tried using the camera from apps like Instagram, Whattsapp and Open Camera, and all of them open only the front-facing camera (which works, I can take pictures with it), not letting me switch to the main camera.
Have any of you experienced something like this?

Hey, try this - but, with the latest 7.0 factory image: https://guidebelajar.blogspot.mx/20...exus-5x-without-wiping-personal-data.html?m=1
Don't go past the part in the screenshot
INSTEAD: Edit the flash-all.bat file with a text editor on your Windows computer like Microsoft Word or Notepad and delete the -w tag.
Connect to fastboot like the web page says while in Bootloader Mode and then double click the edited flash-all.bat file. After that, let it do its work and then you'll have stock restored without losing data.
Voila! No more camera problems, my friend :cyclops:

Do not interrupt the process or use your phone during the process; it will take a good ten minutes to finish up. You could hard brick your phone if you do. Just let it do its thing. Report any errors here.
Hello, Vince! Thanks for you suggestion.
However, I have already factory restored, re-flashed a stock image of Marshmallow and the problem persists. Wiping the cache for example gets the camera working for some time, but then "Can't connect to camera" reappears
If I have done this things already, is it still worth trying your solution?
hi, I've had the same issue with the camera for a while (I was on latest Marshmallow build, not on Nougat). Yesterday I flashed last update (the MTC20K build), following the general guide by @SlimSnoopOS and without wiping any data. You can find the guide in the Nexus 5X general section, the 9th section is dedicated to stock updates. Just remember to unlock your bootloader if you haven't done yet.
At the moment the camera works, will let you know if the problem is permanently solved or not.
I've tried flashing different firmwares, both version 6 and 7 and the problem persists on every setup. Did anyone ever manage to get rid of this problem forever?
Also, since camera does work occasionally, is there a recipe how to reproduce this problem?

"com.android.providers.downloads.ui" causing performance issues

Hi
Recently I bought an A5 (2017) cell phone, but I'm facing terrible performance issues (lagging, delays, crashes and noise during sound playback).
Additionally I get the message that com.android.providers.downloads.ui is causing performance issues. (unfortunately I'm not allowed to post screenshots.)
Interestingly when I use the "Device Maintenance" in Setting and clean the RAM, the problem is gone. I tried to close the apps one by one to find out the one that is causing the problem, but I wasn't able to do so.
I tried freezing com.android.providers.downloads.ui by cmd appops set <package_name> RUN_IN_BACKGROUND ignore and the problem was solved, but when I wanted to use Play Store, it said that I had to enable Downloads app.
Any help would be appreciated.

I did wipe cache and it seemed to fix the problem but after a while the problem was back. I can't root my phone and there is no option for wiping dalvik in recovery mode.
About last option, does flashing stock ROM delete my apps and data? And where can I download stock ROM?

About last option, does flashing stock ROM delete my apps and data? And where can I download stock ROM?

Flashing the ROM won't delete anything on your phone.Visit SamMobile and look for your model to get the correct ROM(Instructions can be found on the site)Also click thanks!?
You have been deleting things. This has caused the "com.android.providers.downloads.ui" error. Use Odin to flash your firmware to restore everything to normal. When you flash the firmware, choose home_csc to avoid deleting your data. Otherwise you will lose everything

I don't know how you got that I've been deleting things, maybe because of my bad English, but I haven't.
Actually, I started to disable (or freeze) the Download Manager after I received the "com.android.providers.downloads.ui" error many times.
I really prefer not to flash my phone, because it's really hard for me to install the apps again.
It will be great if you could suggest a way to overcome the problem without losing my apps or data.

Sorry....I see you are not rooted. That's fine.
Option 1....downgrade Google Play Services - locate in apps and uninstall updates. This will revert to an earlier or factory setting.
Test it and let me know

That's wrong actually you just flash the ROM,I did it multiple times and no he can't delete system stuff in order to cause those errors otherwise phones would have been complete trash.I really don't know why it's trash since it's brand new though?

I mispunctuated my reply earlier. No big deal.
I was on the understanding that if the CSC is flashed as part of the main firmware installation everything goes however, if HOME_CSC is flashed, data remains.

There is no such option as "uninstall updates" in Google Place Services in app section. And the disable button is grayed out. I googled, and it seems I need to root my phone to be able to downgrade Google Play Services.

Hi. Sorry - just seen this.
Okay. In Apps section, tap the 3dots at the top right of the screen and select "Show system apps".
When loaded, scroll down to "Google Services Framework". Tap it. Tap Disable.
Reboot. Repeat process to then enable. Reboot. See what we have.
It's just a case of diagnostics now, if you want to avoid the flash route (we'll try and keep that as last resort - but you will not lose data using my method above)

I downgraded the Google Play Services, but unfortunately it didn't work. The problem is same and additionally Media app (containing Downloads and Download Manager) is draining my battery too.

It's driving me crazy!!!
When I disable MTP Host the battery draining and performance issues are gone, but of course some the other necessary features would be out of access too.
I was wondering if there is any way to update or replace MTP Host!?
