I was trying to install TWRP on my phone (LS990, ZV8) using flashify app. This didn't work and after I did so, every time I would try to "reboot into recovery" the phone would get stuck and I would need to pull the battery out. I then read somewhere that the fix was to delete the aboot.img and install the kitkat aboot.img . I tried to do that, and afterwards my phone won't boot at all. It gets stuck and screen turns black and the LED flashes. It sometimes gives me an error message about the bootloader I think. If I try to boot into Download mode, it (sometimes) takes me straight into fastboot instead. When I try to run fastboot and type "devices" I either get back nothing or now I get back a "?". Maybe I don't have the proper driver. Please Please help!!!
Upsdate: Ok so I played with the drivers and although I still can't get a response to "fastboot devices" I tried to flash a recovery and I can get response on the phone to some degree. It says "fastboot: getwarartition-type:recovery" but the cmd prompt on the computer says "cannot load recovery.img".
Maybe I just need to try and flash a bootloader or a download mode. Anyone know where I can get an laf for download mode. Or Have any directions?
Please help me!!!
UPDATE: FIXED IT!!!! What I did was use fastboot to load up an laf.img that I was able to download from someone on here (took a lot of searching to find an laf.img). Even though I was unable to flash the laf (tried a bunch of times and it always gave me that "failure to write" error right at the end), I was able to use fastboot to boot up the laf.img that was on my computer and that got the phone into download mode. Bear in mind that I still wouldn't get the serial number back from "fastboot devices" so if you're having this problem and it doesn't give you the serial number back it's ok. Just try to run some fastboot commands and see if you get a response on the phone, that way you'll know if fastboot is working. Anyway, I was then able to restore it via LGFlashtool. So yup, its fixable!

Unfortunately its hard bricked and the repair center will know that you tampered with it. The nature of the LG bootloader makes it so that you cant write or boot any images using fastboot.
What was wrong with your method is, when you downgrade to KitKat android bootloader you have to also downgrade the bootloader, laf and recovery partition or other wise it bricks. You should have downgraded your phone using LG Flash Tool to KitKat and then root and install whatever you wanted
In your case the version mismatch between your aboot, bootloader and laf partition is the reason why it doesnt work

OK sir, I fixed it so clearly it was not hard bricked (don't say that if you aren't sure, it would have cost me plenty of money to replace that had I not known better). Yeah, once I got it into download mode (that was the whole problem, I was stuck in fastboot) I was able to fix it.

That's awesome to hear. It seems that booting the laf partition does not actually work under fastboot mode for D855 variants which is why I thought it wouldn't work for you

That's great. And what fastboot commands did you use to execute the laf from your computer ?

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I hope you've already fixed it, but if you're still having this problem then let me explain. "laf.img" is the "download mode" partition. The reason you can't use twrp.img (which is a recovery partition image) is because you're "too far gone" so to speak and not even at the point to try and get into recovery. You need to restore download mode first. If you have fastboot properly working (not going to explain that, look it up, there is plenty of info about that on here and other sites), then you can do what I did. (Although from what other people are saying if you have a D855 it will have a locked bootloader and this won't work, I cant tell you about that because I don't have one and haven't played around with one). Anyway, if you have fastboot working properly (read my first post about how it can be working as long as the phone is responsive, even if you don't get back the "devices comman", you may need to play around with the drivers to get this to work) then you need to obtain an laf.img from somwhere. I found a complete set of .img's for my model somewhere (don't remember if it was on this site or somewhere else). It took a lot of searching, but I'm sure you can find one. Once you have that and the working fastboot then run the command "fastboot boot [location of your laf.img]laf.img"
GOOD LUCK!!!

That's interesting...do you have any idea why that would be? Is it a locked bootloader like someone else mentioned? (I don't know much about the D855 model, never got to play with one). Maybe there is a workaround we can come up with...

I realized the problem with the mismatched aboot after the fact... ironically it all worked out because after all of this I am now back to the original kitkat and can just root and flash as you said lol.

I had the same issue and this is what @bender_007 had me do. (All credit is his.)
READ IT ALL FIRST!!!
If you can't get into TWRP you can't do this... I don't have CWM so I don't know if it works with that...
1) Download this: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934554346
2) Get into TWRP and connect your USB to your computer. See if Windows recognizes it as an ADB device (get it do so if it doesn't) and use
Code:
adb push ls980_unbrick.zip /sdcard/
to get it onto your phone. (If you rename the file use that name.)
3) Flash it in TWRP. Unplug your phone.
THE FOLLOWING IS IMPORTANT!!!4) After flashing the file DO NOT REBOOT, go back in TWRP to turn the phone OFF.
5) Hold Vol Up and insert USB into your computer AND KEEP HOLDING Vol Up.
6) You should see Download mode appear. Flash with LGFlashTool.
7) Profit

Same Here... Any Idea ?
I actuallay am in the same situation with my brand new LG G4 H815 that I have just unlocked.
Everytime I try to get access to the fastboot mode, I get confirmation that my bootloader is unlocked (message on screen),then directly to a normal boot, so I can't flash anything.
If anyone has an idea to solve that it would be much appreciated.

Same thing here. I can only enter fastboot from an adb shell, but today's CM14 update doesn't boot so no ADB shell, now I'm stuck with a phone that can't fastboot.
Moreover, CM14 recovery just displays "erasing' then reboots.

You have triggered the downgrade QFUSE. There is nothing you can do apart from trying to unbrick it like it was dead, but that's not guaranteed to work. You should have researched more before attempting this. My prototype doesn't have a QFUSE, so i am free to downgrade via TOT to kitkat or lollipop.

I second you on this. I just uninstalled MultiROM and got the secure booting error. Depending on the ROM you have, find a bumped kernel and flash it. Most of the kernels on XDA are pre-bumped unless the developer states so. Boot into recovery, tutorials on the internet, then flash the kernel and voila.
if you can use twrp or you're able to flash, use mr_bump.zip: https://mega.nz/#!DNwhRBrK!Ki6zIzXca0KjPShi6L2oaCYIr0CkmH8sEymEt-0Q3ys
oh sorry, I didn't see "no recovery".

Hello, i got the same probleme and i've trying a lot of things but not resolved..
My phone is a LG G3 Beat F470s..
Please help us..
Dowblnload adb and fastboot drivers
Download laf.img for your device
Download LG Drivers
Get you G3 to fastboot mode. Hold volume up and connect it to PC
Open fastboot and adb folder in PC, ctrl+shift+right click and open cmd. Type fastboot devices...if ur device is listen then proceed, if not u did not do something cotrectly...if yes just flash laf img to your G3 and voila
I remember me that I was in the same situation:
No TWRP, no download mode, so i have use in pat this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752270
And an other that i haven't found again (xda thread), in some lines:
=> download the last img file from: https://eu.dl.twrp.me/d855/
=> no download mode available so no possibility to flash manually twrp file from an LG Flash Tool
==> so setup an adb connexion to the phone, cp command to copy the img file on the sdcard or where you want
=> command: "flash recovery twrp-2.8.x.x-xxx.img" (https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-twrp/
=> if it's as worked, you could reboot manually in twrp, make again the partitions if needed and flash any ROM.

My G710EM has a problem with my lockback BL. I can't boot the system and it will prompt "Your device has failed a routine safety check and will not boot. This may be a temporary problem. If this message occurs repeatedly, visit this link on Another device and refer to the red case:g.co/ABH Your device will power off automatically after a while.” With LGup brush kdz brush does not go in, fastboot “fastboot flash unlock unlock.bin” prompt is invalid

I had the very same problem as OP. I tried to install pie with LGUP (G710EM20b_00_OPEN_EU_OP_0508.kdz) but ended in fastboot loop.
After whole night of trying different things (being a noob means less sleep) I managed to run the phone in download mode. Starting from there I was able to install my previous rom. Both failed update and rescue operations were done on Win 10.
What I tried and didn't work:
- Fastboot --set-active=a
Code:
C:\ADB>Fastboot --set-active=a
Setting current slot to 'a'...
FAILED (remote: Slot Change is not allowed in Lock State)
finished. total time: 0.003s
- Unlocking with unlock.bin. Didn't save the msg but saw it somewhere in another thread. I needed to install/point drivers first because the device was not recognized in Win.
- Solutions for G6 for going into download mode. The download mode icon was displayed for a second and then going to fastboot again.
- LG Flash Tool 2014 - I just followed a guide for older phones but it didn't work. Didn't try again.
What did work:
1. I found this post on reddit (remove spaces or PM me, I'm not allowed to post links):

Quoting the post
At first, you'll need a working fastboot environment, you'll find out how to set it up on your own. Then you'll need the laf.img, I can upload mine if you want or I could help you extracting one out of a kdz file. Put the laf.img in the same folder like your fastboot.exe, then hold shift and right click, then click on "open command panel here" or however it's called in English. Type "fastboot flash laf laf.img" (Edit: It would probably better to use "fastboot boot laf.img" instead because of the bootloader lock). If that works, you at least have a working download mode.

2. I used LG_Firmware_Extract_v1.2.6.1 and extracted dz file from aforementioned pie file. The I extracted two laf files for the kz file. In my case they were: laf.img_180534 and laf.img_81990.
3. I took one of these files (sry, don't remember which one, but they have the same size - didn't check if they're the same) renamed it to laf.img and put a folder where fastboot.exe is.
4. I did
Code:
fastboot boot laf.img
and voila: the phone was in download mode!
5. After that LGUP the previous rom and the phone is working again. Here I needed few tries. At first the were some problems, then I tried different combinations (1.14, 1.15, w/ and w/o uppercut). I think LGUP 1.15 (1.14 with patch) did the work. I was able to "refurbish" the phone.
Hope it's useful for others. If anyone could prepare a guide from this description or/and tell why it worked - please feel free to do so.
I think I will wait some time before trying pie again

Code:

Thanks for you guide.. I follow it but unfortunatly after "fastboot boot laf.img" I get this message from my LG:
"Your device has failed a routine safety check.... it will reboot after a while.."

I recall I also had some error msg, it could've been the same. Now I don't remember what I exactly did next as most my actions were more or less random. Either I tried the same command but with other laf.img file (from the rom I used before), or I tried to restart the phone into download mode (vol- and power together and then vol+ after screen goes black) or tried the same file again.
Hope it helps.

Check if the phone is recognized in LG Bridge. If so, then choose update error recovery from software update tab. Again, I don't remember if it worked immediately or did I need to reinstall drivers and/or choose a proper driver in device manager (generic ADB vs LG...) and/or restart the phone.

Based on other threads, e.g. https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/restore-v20-to-100-stock-bricked-devices-t3524903 and https://www.reddit.com/r/lgg6/comments/axd17d/lg_g6_eu_glh870_bricked_after_update_your_device/
try:
install the LG Bridge updater software on a computer, go to updates, click the "correct update errors" button. Then plug in your turned-off phone while holding down the volume up button. It should switch to download mode and reinstall all software from the PC. Yes, this will erase all data but it should unbrick your phone (unless the hardware's broken I guess)
