While listening to music the volume is in a constant state of flux. It goes up and down randomly but no buttons are pressed or nothing shows up on the screen.

Odin stock firmware and see if it fixes it.

Hi all.
Since yesterday I have strange problem. Sometimes when working with my PDA the sound volume goes down(like I'm holding the sound button down). When I try to get volume up(by the sound button or by clicking) it again goes down like I'm holding the sound button down. Only way out: move down the sound button and then up...then it's ok(sometimes for a hour, sometimes for a few minutes).
I tried to go back to my backup from 11.8. - there waren't any errors and everything was instaled fiine. It seems ok - but just for a while :/
Anybody with same problem?
Do you think it is rom or hw problem?
Any idea?
Hi,
I have a AT&T Tilt2 on which suddenly the volume rocker up button stop working as volume button and then brings me to the home screen from within any app!! I am unable to figure out why this would happen - its a stock AT&T ROM with some apps that I installed like - OperaBeta, HDWallS, Resco.
Even when I hold down the call drop button for sometime, the device does not lock! It vibrates but does nothing - just shows me the home screen.
Any idea on why this would happen ? has anyone seen this happen to their cell too ?
Thanks
Dhanvi
My volume buttons occasionally acts up too. They suddenly act as up and down keys rather than volume up and down keys. Very rarely though. A soft reset makes it go away each time.
...guess it was having an identity crisis...
I've been having problems with my volume buttons. And soft reseting doesn't solve the problem. The volume buttons work in the lock screen. But when i'm at the home screen they just open and close the volume screen.
I have a tilt 2 with the stock rom.
To be more precise: I seem unable to adjust the call volume whilst the phone is on my ear & the screen blank - once I lower the phone & the screen comes back I can adjust the volume without any problems. Is it just me, am I missing something?
I also got problem....

no problems even while the screen is blank, why dont u try restarting ur phone and see if it works
and you are using the volume rocker to increase/decrease the call volume right ?
Well, whatever it was it seems to have disappeared after updating the phone to 1.28 - thanks for the quick reply.
I'm having this issue too - HTC One X running 1.29. When I call someone I can change the volume using the rocker on the side while the phone is ringing, but the rocker doesn't seem to do anything once we're talking. I called someone the other day and as it was noisy around me I turned the volume up, but then once they answered it quietened down and I couldn't turn the volume back down. Annoying!
I also have this problem, and from memory it has persisted from 1.26 -> 1.28 -> 1.29
what happens is that I'll take a call, and after the screen turns off from holding it next to my ear, the volume rocker will still work for maybe a minute?
after some time, e.g. 5 minutes (i've never actually timed it), the volume rocker will be completely unresponsive until i take it away from my ear (after screen turns back on)
That's what I experience too. Have to.move phone away from ear to adjust volume....

Never heard of phantom hardware button issue. Anyone?
When streaming video over wifi (netflix or any other app like it) sometimes the volume level slides all the way to mute - - I'm not touching anything , but it acts as if I held the vol down button. Volume toast popup comes out of the blue, and I just watch it decrease volume to mute. I slide it back up, and it immediately slides back to mute. It will do it like 20 times in five minutes, then not for days... ANY suggestions? MOAR/MD4. No other issues... Thanks in advance for any ideas. Cheers.
My phone has suddenly died today. Unsure how much battery it had when it happened, no issues before.
I lookedat my phone and it appeared to be off but I noticed a notification light flashing. Power button didnt turn the screen on, no volume or softkey interaction either. green LED still flashing (I had just not long before had a message on whatsapp so maybe it was from this).
Whatsapp web shows phone as offline, google shows phone as offline.
Connect it to USB and the laptop notices a device as I get the noise, but doesnt show as a drive in the laptop
connect it to power, nothing comes on the screen.
Call it and it doesnt ring (noise wise or screen)
Cannot reset - power button feels soft (not clicky)
Light still flashes.....
Really stuck any help appreciated.

Could it be possible you have a power button hardware failure. Try this : keep volume down pressed. If the phone reboots the power button is pressed too without you touching it.

I did think that the power button may have failed, but noting that the notification light is on, that then suggests the phone is in a powered on state - if that is the case should it not respond to an inbound call, any of the soft buttons at the bottom etc?
Just tried holding volume down for 15 seconds, nothing.....
Was hoping to get the phone to completely power down of its own accord but I dont recall if it had 3% or 70% and dont know how long a blinking LED will keep it going for!
