LP 816 A5_CHL Rooting? - Desire 816 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ive been searching the forums but havent found any rooting methods for the lolipop update for the VM Version of the 816. Is it still the same? Just flash latest TWRP then user SuperUser to root? Or is there a special one?

[Q] How to root and install custom roms?

Before you ask to search, I have. It's just that I'm a noob and new to Samsung devices as I previously have owned an HTC device. I've searched the thread for many ways to root but I've found around 3-4 different threads and I don't know which one to go by. Also, since I have the Canadian T989D version, does following a T989 root guide and flashing roms that state T989 differ from T989D? Also, how am I able to flash TWRP as the recovery? Thanks and sorry for my noobiness..
This guide is excellent

Will this work for the T989D version? and can I ask what are modems and where can I find them to flash?

Yes, it will work. The main difference to just root your phone from the T989, is the way to put it in recovery mode.

[Q] [Question] Root, Unlock, & S-Off

Hi, guys, I just got the Verizon HTC One today and it came out of box with Android 4.4.2 and Sense 5.5 build no. 3.11.605.1 CL304035 release-keys. I have read through the Android Development forum and Original Android Development forum and I didn't find any tools specific to the 4.4.2 build. Can any of you point me in the right direction? Or is the bootloader and S-Off method still in the works? Please don't tell me that this is going to be like the Samsung devices and locked down forever! Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!
As of right now, there is no s-off, bootloader unlock, or root for 4.4.2. But im sure there will be eventually. As i understand it, firewaters exploit was not patched, but the needed temp root method was.

If you got the device from a retail store just go back and try to get a replacement. There's a good bet most of them are not on 4.4
Gotcha(directed to both of you) I'm sure there'll be a method soon, if nothing else moonshine, rumrunner, etc. Will probably just be updated as I figure. I used to have the Droid DNA which is an awesome phone and I used moonshine and loved it. I love those one click programs that does everything for you! I just thought I'd ask because I read through the forums first and didn't see anything and I just wanted to make sure I didn't over look anything. Thank you guys, I appreciate it.

I seen another thread, where jcase said he will released a new method in August.

Almost 5 months for a root method? I feel really bad for those stuck on 4.4 now. I'd just jump to the M8 at that point.
Yeah August is a long way off and sure we will have another update by then which most will take making his exploit useless.

For the most part, beaups was silent before he cracked 4.3 right?
And they can't patch an exploit if they don't know what it is right?

I wish kingo was compatible. I mean I would like to have soff, custom recovery and an unlocked boot loader for custom ROMs but with how smooth and fast the 4.4.2 software is, I would be perfectly fine with just root.

Hey guys just bought a second hand lg g3 appears to be the singapore model. Its a 32gb D855 and was running lollipop 5.0 when i got it. Im trying to downgrade it to android 4.4 kitkat so i can then unlock bootloader and flash TWRP so i can flash roms. 1) is that plan correct aahaha will this even work. 2) what kdz file do i need off here http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda/LG+G3/Stock/D855/ theres two singapore models which one do i need? thanks a lot guys
Hi
You should have no need to downgrade to Kikat. Search XDA G3 forum for Root tool v3 and use it to root and followthe instructions on installing TWRP.
I have the Taiwan version of the D855 32Gb and that is how i did it on Lollipop 5.0.

Yes i know but in xda people don't like using kingroot app.... say it has security issue.....also get kernel panic issue with kingroot but it can be just for me...
Yeah but if you install a custom. Rom after using King root you can use it and for me it was only option because of broken USB port

Is there a root for T-Mobile Android M M8?

Hey guys, I've been waiting to get android M and sense 7 before I root my phone, now I realize that root availability depends on firmware and carrier.
Could you guys please tell me if there's any way to root the One M8 on T Mobile, android M?
It doesn't matter what phone nor carrier. You have root. 2 different ways if your s-on or off. Just search the HTC One M8 thread and you'll find it.

Oh, sweet, thanks! I was confused since I keep seeing some guides that say they're exclusive for like, AT&T m8 or what not.. So I can use any guide for Android M root for M8?
Only way is to S-Off your device with Sunshine
http://theroot.ninja/
It costs a one time fee of $25 in which it'll Unlock your Bootloader and S-Off. You can then fastboot flash a custom recovery to install SuperSU or a compatible Custom Rom

Possible One Click Root ZF2 Marshmallow?

This is from the ASUS forum. Sadly it will only work with Linux. So I'm wondering if there's anyone here who can pick at this and see if something can be created for Windows as I cannot for the life of me get Ubuntu or any other Linux system to install on Win 10
http://www.asus.com/zentalk/thread-76656-1-1.html
As it says on the page, it is for 2.20.40.184, so that is for the last update of lollipop.

I'm with Lollipop '.184' version.
I would be able to uptade by OTA like I'm never rooted just removing the root with SuperSu?
So many questions haha. I was used to do this in Motorola devices - it was so easy - and now i'm feelig as a newbie again!
