Hi Kevin.
Welcome to the forums. Unfortunaly the only way I know to back up touchwiz (which I'm assuming your using) is to be rooted and use titanium backup. (Or do a nandroid backup of the whole system)
If you were to use another launcher such as nova . they normally have a backup function built in.
Another idea i heard people use is to just take a screenshot of the layout then set it as your wallpaper and Aline all your icons with it manually.
Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions.
titanium back up can back up the touch wiz layout???
I haven't tried this because I haven't need it, but using Helium, you can backup most apps without root, I think the one you need to backup is App launcher (it has a House Icon), I think that one should be Touchwiz backup, I may be wrong though.

Hi all.
Im on DC 3.2.3 and Ive spent the past 2 days (ignoring the wife LOL) setting up my "desktop" to my liking. Im running ADWLauncher and do not see any similar option to that of the HTC Sense launcher where i could save a theme that I put together to save the hassle of setting it all up again, should I go a different route and want to revert to a saved theme.
Is this possible to do ?

why not do what alot of us do and back up your current ROM using ROM Manager. that way if you ever decided to test something else new, you can always go back to your currently nice setup ROM within minutes without having to worry about backup and etc...
With Titanium backup, you can backup user and system apps. There is a system app for HTC Sense: Desktop. Just restore that after you flash a new rom, or whatever, and you're right back to the way things were configured before. I use it quite often.

So the only thing I need to backup in Titanium to restore my current ADW Launcher theme setup, is HTC Sense: Desktop ?
I have sense disabled via DCConfig.
Thanks
Is there a way that when you change your rom, you keep your apps (using titanium backup) but it keeps your layout (how you organised your widgets/folders/apps on your home page) ?
Also how do i get my market to sync with my apps so that it checks for updates?
Yes, but you'll need to re-add the widgets.

Does not answer my question... lol
The stuff stays on the homescreens if you backup data along with the app in TB.

So if i changed from wildpuzzke rom to jokerdroid for instance, ti would restire my home screen or the majority of it since i have to re add widgets ?
Thanks
I don't know if it works with HTC sence, but I'm 100% it works with Launcher PRO

I doubt it as LP probably has something similar to an xml file with all the locations for the apps and widgets.
Titanium Backup not needed AFAIK.
Launcher Pro and some other launchers will have the option to backup home screen + other settings to memory card. That backup should include layout of widgets afaik. But u need all the previous widgets installed before restoring. Although u can also backup LPP and its settings with titanium backup.
EDIT : And is there "homescreens" stuff to backup on titanium backup. All i found is only "homescreen tips" (on CM7) which are not homescreens actually. Im using free version and don't know about pro version.
Hey guys!
I know there are already many short Threads about this, but I didnt found any, matching to me.
Whats the Problem:
I want to backup my HomeScreen with all App & Widget Positions. Also I want to backup my AppDrawer-Menu (Folders, Icon Postions etc).
I found 3 Solutions, so far:
-Using another Launcher, that can nativly backup these data (not matching for me- I like Touchwizz)
-Using "MyBackup" (many issues reported. only homescreen backup. <-- not even that bugfree)
-Using "TitaniumBackup"
I prefer TitaniumBackup!
In some other Samsung-Thread here I found the solution to simply backup the "twlauncher" with TB. But i cant find that file in TB!!!
Plz, can anybody tell me how to backup my Homescreens and AppDrawer-Folders?
With GoBackup Pro you can save the touchwiz settings even widgets as long as you use the original tw and not a modded one.
I use it with no problems at all and works like a charm.

Hey Buddy, thx for your hint! unfortunately it doesn't work in my case. a backupp in JB isn't possible. There is also no possibility to autoinstall the backed up apps. I have to confirm every installation.
I know that it can be difficult to restore the TW-settings from ICS to JB, but I thought that it would work anyhow in some way, even if its not 100% as ist was on ICS.
Maybe someone got another idea?
My method.
Nandroid backup ..
Flash your new rom .
Recovery advanced restore restore data only.
It works but you may have conflicts on older apps with new firmware but i have rarely had that happen .

Hi guys, not 100% sure this is the right place, please correct me if it isn't.
I had an idea: since there are ways to copy homescreens from one launcher to another and there are backup/restore options in launchers, is there such a thing for Sense 4.x ?
It would save a lot of time and trouble with flashing roms, but also it's nice to simply have a backup when things go wrong.
We have "scenes" which are basically backups of the homescreen, so we only need a way to export those and import later. OR are these already backupped with a full phone data backup? (via the hidden backup/restore app)
Check for the app named with 'HTC Sense xxxx' in TiBackup & backup it. If you've restored it later, most of the things on your homescreens will get restored. Try!

Thanks man that's easyer than I thought haha. Hadn't used TiBackup yet for this purpose.
ViperX here I come
Just to confirm: that worked like a charm. Only thing to look out for is that you should install/restore your apps first, because it can't put icons down for apps that are not (yet) installed.
Cheers!
I'm looking for a software that can backup everything on my phone. Actually I use AppBacup&Restore. But I want something that restore my application, widget, and folder on my homescreen. I tryed Titaniu but I'm not familiar with it.
Any suggestion?
I've always preferred my backup root over titanium. From memory it backs up widgets and home screen shortcuts but I haven't used it in months and not 100% certain

Your screen layouts should be determined by your launcher. Which means if you restore your launcher data, everything should be as is. I know some of the launchers have their own backup/restore, but how much of that is just basic configuration (themes, actions) vs screen\widget layout may vary.

I would love to help you, but help yourself first: ask a better question

Ok. Thanks.
If you're looking to back up your apps +their data, then titanium backup is your answer. If you search "top root Apps for Android" in Google, you will undoubtedly see it in the top of every list, and there's good reason for that. It's extremely reliable and works well. If you have a rooted phone and don't mind shelling out 6 dollars for all the features, then go for it. Some other features that the app gives you are: freezing apps, un installing apps including system apps, backing your backups to a cloud, backing up your sms/mms/call logs/Internet bookmarks/wifi aps, extracting from nandroid backup, destroying market links/re-linking, converting apps to system apps and more.
If you want to backup everything (apps, data, your rom and kernal etc), then you use nandroid backup, which is free but requires you to flash cwm recovery.
Titanium backup will backup home screen , folder, short cut except widgets ( I think no SW backup widgets and it just matter of few seconds)
Here is detail guide how to use titanium
