[Q] Which replacement screen for Z1C? - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, my friend's kid broke his Z1C's glass, now it doesnt work properly, so he wants to replace it. Hungarian stores do it for around 100-150 bucks, but I've found some replacement screens on eBay for around $35-40 (with glass and digitzer). Are those low quality ones? Does anyone have any experience with them? I know that my Nexus' cheap replacement screens are not the best choice, that's why I'm asking. Can anyone suggest me any trustable sources with mostly cheap prices? Thanks for any help!

it will work but the quality is a bit lower. for normal user it is ok, for some not.
I would prefer let it change officially and buy something else for kids to play. Moto G for example.

Screen Replacement

I cracked my screen today and need to replace the lcd. I looked on eBay and it seems like the screens are fairly cheap, are they all the same or should I buy from a particular seller? Does anyone have any experience with any of the eBay vendors?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum
This one looks pretty decent.

Good luck,
I bought about 5 or 6 allready from ebay, last 3 I got from a guy called jecomgroup. They charge around 16€ (all included), I guess that's around 21$. Delivery is allways from HongKong. Takes around 5 or 6 days to get to Europe (belgium). Never had a problem with them yet.
Can't speak for the ebay vendors, I used this one;

Got the T-5/6 bits from Lowes.
touchscreen replacement possible?
this might be dumb to ask..but i was wondering since it was on the subject of screen replacement, if you were to put a touchscreen glass instead of the regular dash one, it won't make it touchscreen right? 'Cuz the OS doesn't recognize it to be one?
The OS *might* recognize the touchscreen...but how would you interface it? There is no hardware connector!
It is possible to hack touchscreens on mini-notebooks like the Asus EEE, because there are internal USB ports that allow them to be connected to the machine.
To my knowledge, there is no such port in the Dash.
Chuck
thanks for the reply. I've just always wondered..cuz i mean, the touch strip on the end gives it a good little touchscreenesque vibe, being able to scroll and click and what not with it, but it would be pretty awesome if it were touch. Either way, I'm happy with my dash!

[Q] Oops.. Broke my screen wrestling with the GF. What replacement is the best?

Title says all. I was goofing around and had my phone in my pocket and landed on it cracking the screen in the corner. Digitizer still works but where can I find a real honest to god OEM replacement screen?

I don't want to get a cheap ripoff replacement but this looks legit (I guess) Anyone care to give an expert input on if I should get this or not?
Much thanks in advance. (Back to my Moto RAZR V3 til then)
are you sure you broke the digitizer, the lcd screen, or both?
the digitizer should cost you around $20
what you posted is the actualy lcd screen
I would buy from a US seller just avoid any complications.
check the feedback rating on the ebay seller you are buying from
chances are, they have sold the exact prduct before. See what other buyers have to say about their purchase
The digitizer is fine. I checked the function using droid explorer screencast. I cracked the LCD.
I just don't want to replace the screen with some knockoff poor quality LCD.
Thanks for the reply.
Then buying any lcd screen on ebay should be fine. You should understand that generally people on ebay aren't trying to sell you fake or non quality products, unless its blatantly a scam or too good to be true. Buy from a US seller just in case something goes, its easier to deal with. China and other overseas sellers may be able to get you the same product for less, but transit times can take a while. And paypal only has a 45 day grace period for opening disputes to get your money back, in case things go terribly wrong.

And there's many teardown guides on youtube to get you going. Easy peasy, as long as you're gently and can handle things carefully
By the way, Use the thanks button. A lot better than saying thanks in a post
Gotcha.. I whacked that button for you.
Tearing into the phone won't be an issue. The seller I have linked above is stateside so I will go ahead and purchase that and hopefully be tossing the V3 into backup phone status.

What is the word on eBay replacement screens?

Hi all,
I broke my SGS2 screen recently. I saw there is a very extensive tutorial to replace it.
However, I am puzzled at the offer on eBay. Prices go from around 100$ to 200$ for (allegedly) the same thing.
I can only guess that not all parts offered are genuine, even though they have Samsung written on the front.
AFAIK Samsung is the only one who knows how to produce SAMOLED+ screens so if those replacement are not genuine they should be LED I guess?
Can anyone comment on that? Are the 100$ assemblies (screen + glass) cheap knockoffs with LCD screens or are they as good as the original screen?
Thanks!

Shattered my Screen - Where Do I Buy a New One?

I live in Canada so buying from ebay or somewhere canadian would be helpful.
If you bought it from the Google Play store there's a chance you might get a replacement. There have been people who have called in saying they broke their screen and Google replaced the phone. It's YMMY, but it's worth a shot first before looking around to buy a new panel.
There are plenty of screen replacements on eBay for around $100

Not sure about the quality of those ones though. Could be knock offs or faulty. Unless someone knows a trusted seller?
I'll try contacting google but the screen replacements are for americans only.

With ebay you have to do some research. Find what you're looking for, then read the seller feedback and search for the item you're looking to buy. If people are leaving positive feedback about it, then you shouldnt have anything to worry about. I buy iPhone screen replacements all the time and havent had an issue yet.

I've purchased three N5 replacement screens which I carefully researched and went with the ones that seemed to be the best rated sellers (not just the cheapest option). I would never again go that route. IMHO but none of the screens were Corning Gorilla Glass 3. They each had issues that stock phones did not (dead pixels, attracted dust like a dust magnet, changed the touch characteristics, etc...). Last phone that I needed to replace a screen for I ended up going with Play Store and they did a free exchange of the unit.
I found a solution. LG in Canada charges a flat rate of $150 to fix the display which is much better than $200+ from local shops.
Google will send you another Nexus 5 if you bought it directly from them.
Might as well keep that $150 and put it towards a newer device (Nexus 6) .
Sent from my Nexus 5
I would just dump the Nexus 5 and save the money for the Nexus 6 or pick up the new Moto G.

galaxy S5 LTE-A frame replacement

Hi, I just registered to this XDA site, and I'm loving it.
Anyway, I'm thinking of replacing my phone's frame cause the old one got scratched a lot and I don't like it.
Q1. Do you think I would be able to swap out the mid-frame without breaking the LCD and needing to buy a new one? And is a Glass for the LCD and digitizer a must have for frame replacements?
Btw, I have quite a bit of experiences on desktop PCs and laptops along with most other bigger electronics, and I am pretty well informed about what I'm doing cause I really spend a lot of time searching the web and watching other people do these stuff.
Q2. What do you think of buying phone parts from ebay? I use ebay often but not phone parts and when I use ebay, I mostly end up with products that really don't seem to be high quality. Like would the frame that I can find on ebay as low as 3~4$ really be OEM products and if it's not, would the speakers or audio jacks included in the frame be high quality??(I can't use Amazon since I live nowhere near the US or Canada)
Q3. My S5 is a LTE-A model with QHD display 3GB of ram instead of 2 and different CPUs and generally, a little different in terms of specs. Would the frame be compatable with my version?? And are there any ways to check whether other components are compatable too??
