I've got a 5.1 Lollipop ROM that's more or less stock Android. I miss the stock Samsung camera app though because I haven't been able to find another app that does HDR as well is it. The Google camera app is too bare-bones and something like Camera FX has an absolutely retarded way of taking HDR shots.
Any way to install the Samsung camera app on Lollipop 5.1?
Nope
ditto. I've never seen the Samsung camera successfully ported to any AOSP rom. That's one of the reasons I stay with Touchwiz ROMs.
Hmmm... I wonder why that is.

Just curious if theirs a difference in the actual picture quality between these two camera apps. Was running more or less samsungs theme roms with their camera app and just recently started running a stock 4.1.1 rom.
Love the rom but it could just all be in my head, atleast on the phone the samsung camera app seems to take better pictures?
I know the HDR+ function is not supported for our devices but the HDR function on other camera apps I've downloaded doesn't works either on 4.4.x ROMS and the stock camera app it's not so good, doesn't have many options. I love aokp, cyanogen, omni but I've been sticking to TouchWiz ROMS just because I love to take pictures and it supports HDR and other options from its stock camera app and many other camera apps out there. Some good camera apps don't even open at all in these ROMS. Is this kernel related or something? Can I work around this to stick to 4.4.x ROMS?
Hey guys.
Im using AOSB ROM and the camera app there is rubbish. It doesn't have one of the anti-shake feature like on stock 4.2.2 touchwiz ROM. Any idea how i can get it back? Or any good camera app alternative? Google camera has afew bugs rly.

Google camera seems like the best you can get right now, I'd recommend that with Xposed module Pictures2SD if you don't want pictures in internal storage.

Oppo ColorOS camera app ported for CM11s (kitkat), but I installed it on my AOKP'd Nexus 4 and it works great. Plugins are located here.
Photos are clearer, less grainy (especially when you zoom in) and have better color saturation. Interestingly, jpgs are better quality but file sizes are smaller than jpgs taken with stock pa gapps camera app
Thanks, is it possible to have all the plugins in one apk?
Edit: Is this only for KK roms since its niy working on simple aosp
Does it work on lollipop?
Sorry, this is only for kitkat.
work on AOSP android 4.4.2 ?
Its not writing on 4.4.4 kitkat. I installed the apk but it crashed after launching. Am I missing anything?
Has anyone try the google camera app on the zenfone 2 ? I've heard pictures might be better
It depends. If you're on CM13, it's better because the Marshmallow version of Google Camera's pretty good, but on the other hand the Marshmallow version of Google Camera is broken with video so it kind of varies. If you're still on stock ROM, then I would recommend Camera FV-5. It's a pretty nice camera.
It depends really. You see the Google Camera that you can download from the PlayStore installs a different version of the app for every version of android that you're running, it also gives certain features that only Nexus phones can utilize. So if you're running stock ZenUI running Lollipop, then i can't say for sure of the quality improves a lot, but if you're running on a custom ROM, then i think it does have a difference. Personally, i'm running ReusrrectionRemix and the image quality is just great.
