Galaxy Note II N7100 US Carrier Options - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've got some family visiting from out of the country, and they will be staying long enough to warrant getting a SIM card for their phone. I have been going to the different carriers websites and I can't seem to get a good indication of whether or not it can be used when searching through their BYOD compatibility checkers (i.e AT&T has a note2 option, but doesn't like the IMEI number when put in). Has anyone been using this in the US?
Thanks

Which Note II for AT&T MVNO

I currently own a GT-N7000 Note and am going to upgrade by purchasing a Note II, but I am having some trouble figuring out which exact version to get.
I tried purchasing Galaxy S III once and AT&T refused to unlock the device despite me having paid the full $699 for it. (I ended up having to return it because of this)
I have 4 requirements for the phone but can't figure out what model meets all of them. Any help or suggestions from the community would be greatly appreciated.
1. I will be using the phone on AT&T MVNO's (am currently on RedPocket).
2. I would like to have working LTE (US is 700Mhz Class 17 I believe.
3. I would like to either have the phone come without carrier modifications to the OS and without bloatware, or if that is completely non-existant at the very least have a version of the Note II that will allow me to easily load a stock ROM on it with all features (especially tethering built in), and without any loss of functionality (i.e. I don't want to deal with firmware incompatibility problems like no working LTE radio or instability or the like)
4. I will be using the phone overseas every now and then so it definitely needs to be unlocked.
Thanks guys.

Has anyone ordered from here?
cellgsmphones.com
Supposedly they are shipping the phones straight from Korea and it has 700 band LTE.
If so, did the phone really come with 700Mhz LTE?
The site says the specs/info came from a wiki, so I am guessing it might be all wrong.
Well if you want to use a MVNO of AT&T you wont be getting LTE, They don`t allow it, its ONLY for AT&T Contract and or Prepaid but it does not work on AT&T`s MVNO`s none of them currently.
I say just buy the ATT Note2 and try to get ATT to unlock and if not pay the $25-30 to get the unlock code from; http://www.cellunlocker.net/.
Hyelton is correct, no ATT MVNO has LTE and I read an article that ATT will be bringing LTE to GoPhone but it's at least a year out.
I have a N7100 on an ATT MVNO and I am getting 5-8Mbps down so it's not bad.
Not quite sure why someone would want to pay extra for a Korean version of a phone to use on ATT when you can just buy the ATT version and pay to unlock it cheaper. Unless your trying to get it on a dumb phone plan and are hoping that the Korean Imei never gets blocked.

Its actualy cheaper to buy the N7100 than the AT&T one. AT&T is $699 plus tax. I only Paid about $600 for mine with free shipping and no tax

[Q] How can I use my carrier again?

Hello,
Lately I bought a Galaxy S4 AT&T carrier, but the guy who sold me did not say to me that the phone has bad imei, so i was unable to use it because my AT&T Sim Card when I try to call on this phone said that the network was blocked......
So I return this S4 and I return to use my Original phone back, (a Galaxy S3 AT&T) but when I try to used the phone, said the same thing that the network was blocked for Network use on AT&T.
The thing is, I unlocked my own S3 for used with another carriers just for fun and I rooted it, if I go to AT&T to solve this problem can I had a problem with they? because you know, unblocked phones is illegal.
How I can have network again?
Please I hope an answer, I am 3 weeks without phone

[Q] Where do I even begin...

So my gf has a Galaxy SIII from sprint, w no sim card. I have an at&t contract with two lines. I called AT&T and they replaced the IMEI for my 2nd line, to the IMEI of her SIII. Well obviously it's not that easy bc the **** don't work lol. I don't even know where to start, and don't bother telling me to "read the forums" bc I did and it's all gibberish to me anyway. Long story short I don't have any sim cards, never did. Not for my two htc one mini's through AT&T nor her SIII. Her SIII is running 4.1.2, which if i read some of the other posts right, it means it's impossible to transfer her phone to AT&T? I guess for starters is it even possible to bring a 4.1.2 SIII onto AT&T service? AT&T already changed the IMEI to her SIII, for whatever that's worth....
And on a side note, the SIII is completely stock from the manufacturer, aside from having the most current updates (Firmware etc). And I would like to emphasize that I have no access to any kind of "sim" card, nor will I ever. If there is a way to connect a Sprint SIII to the AT&T network, the method absolutely can not involve sim cards, and must be able to be done on a completely updated S3.
The last time I ever messed with the internals of a phone was back when the LG Ally was first released, and I did a one touch root, so I could use Verizons data through a WiFi hotspot, and not have to pay for a hotspot data package. So other than that I have not one pinch of knowledge or experience in this, as I've never had the need for it until now. I can follow instructions, but every single thread I've found on this site is so mind numbingly vague, it may as well read "insurt teh usb, do teh magix stuff, unplugs teh usb, ta-da!" And I'm not trying to start anything, I'm just trying to put into perspective how absolutely lost i am.
I tried the *# code in the dialer, and nothing. (probably bc i have NO sim cards)
I called AT&T and had them change the IMEI on my second line to the Sprint SIII
I read countless novel length threads on here, all of them seemingly useless.
I went to the sprint store to have them unlock it, they refused, naturally.
There is not an AT&T retail location for MANY miles, not like they'd be helpful anyway I assume...
I'm just stuck, all these threads do not apply to me, but I'm sure there's a way... There has to be.
To be able to connect the phone to the AT&T network you have to have a SIM card, without SIM you will never get to connect to the AT&T network. Your best bet would be to check here or craigslist to see if someone might be willing to exchange phones. or to purchase or upgrade to a phone with a SIM card slot, no sim card slot no service with AT&T.
I'm not a dev but I can tell you this.
1. Please do not insult one of the best source for Android development because you refuse to read the stickies and tutorials.
2. I'm sorry but a CDMA only Sprint Galaxy S3 does not have the necessary hardware to use AT&T's network. Though you state there must be a way you are unfortunately wrong in this case.
3. Prepare to get flamed and possibly have this thread closed.
4. You should try a Sprint MVNO or other CDMA based phone company like Boost, Virgin Mobile, etc.
5. I feel sorry if by girlfriend's phone you mean you bought a hot phone off someone.

We're not here to flame, he has a legitimate question and simply needs an answer. Bit1 is right it's a CDMA phone and won't work with AT&T. It's very unfortunate but you won't get it to work. Your best bet now is to resell it as a CDMA phone and purchase the AT&T version.
Well, I guess that solves that, lol. Yeah I did some foot work around the city, talked to several retailers and a couple techs, learned a lot more a lot quicker. So yeah it basically comes down to the radio being in a completely different band/freq wtfe than AT&T uses. (The whole CDMA and the other deal). I mean the IMEI isn't locked, the phone isn't "hot". She's behind $250 on her sprint bill and now has a $300 paperweight, so I was trying to add the phone to my AT&T plan. Anywho, thanks for clearing this up. As far as trying to sell the thing, I saw a kiosk with a used S3 for $280? Is there even a market for S3's? They don't exactly seem like the "in" thing anymore if you catch my drift. My next question would be, if I sold the phone to someone who wanted to use it on the Sprint network, can they use it? More specifically I know they lock IMEI's if they're reported stolen/lost, but would they do it for not making a bill payment? (She hasn't used the thing/had service in over a month now...) My goal really is to figure out what to do with the thing. Best Buy offered $150 for an S3, but I don't know if the IMEI is good or not : / The screen is cracked so i was going to get a $15 one off EBay, fix it, and sell it. My concern is on selling the thing, should I make the $15 investment and chance not being able to sell the thing? I'm broke as all get out, so I'd rather have the 3 packs of cig's than a wasted investment lol.
Anybody need an SIII?
LMAO

CAN i use at&t note ii with different carrier?

I have note ii from at&t which is also rooted. Can i use with different carrier as I am contemplating verizin wireless? Other day, i talked to girl in bestbuy and she has outright refused has no clue of what rooted phone is. Approached another guy, and pointed me to anohter person in another best buy location who can do some real technical advise but reminded me to talk to him in secrecy.
Another option seems to be sign up with Verizon buying real cheap 10$ phone and change the sim card.
Thanks,
No, you can't. GSM networks only with this phone like T-Mobile. Verizon is a CDMA network

As another member posted, with Verizon no. You can use it with T-Mobile, Simple Mobile, MetroPCS, Cricket, Red Pocket, Straight Talk, etc. Only GSM carriers support this phone. No CDMAs.

My work gives great discounts with Verizon; will somebody remind me why I hate CDMA networks?

You what mate?
AT&T and Tmobile are GSM networks, mostly compatible.
You can use any AT&T phone (even locked) on AT&T or one of their MVNOs, basically resellers of their network. See here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_mobile_virtual_network_operators
If you unlock it, you can also use it on Tmobile, or any of their MVNOs. But Tmobile HSPA+/LTE data networks may or may not match up too well with your AT&T phone, depends on the phone.
Sprint/Verizon use CDMA, a fundamentally incompatible technology from GSM, so it is a no-go.
okay , i switched to tmovile and got an LG G FLEX. Turns out this phone is piece of ****, dropped 2 feet with the rubber case and screen cracked. Now I am going to use the ATT NOTE II with tmobile. Once I transferred the sim card out of that ****ty LG G FLEX's SIM onto NOTE II, it says network locked SIM card. What do I do? should I bring to tmobile and attempt to have unlock the sim card? Or Bring to ATT? Thanks.,

When I moved our Note II to T-mobile, I got an unlock code from one of the websites. Then I took it to T-Mobile and used that unlock code at the store. Lot's of sites that will send you and unlock code and directions to unlock. You can search this forum for "SIM Unlock" and you'll find plenty of threads.
Did you get the T-Mobile "JUMP" for the Flex? If so, then you can have it replaced, otherwise you're SOL.

Q about Not activated note 4

if somebody can answer my question thats be great.
im trying to buy note 4 its at&t. but the person who bought the phone from at&t he did not activate the phone on at&t network.. he just got it in the mail and never contact at&t to activate it.. and he did not pay it off
ri have red pocket SIM and this is what i use for phone service..
if i buy this phone and use my SIM card with it.. does the phone with count as blacklist in at&t database ? what i know at&t blacklist phones will not work on red pocket..
thanks alot
If he did not pay it off it will likely be blacklisted. I assume he got it through the AT&T next program.
It will take up to a few months to be blacklisted.
But there is the chance that it will not be blacklisted as it wasn't registered on their network.
I was told that even if you owe money on a Next Plan device, you can still sell it to someone else. I just did that with my S5 and it went fine.
The Next Plan is tied to your account, not the device. If you sell the device and still owe money on it, they will come after you.
I could be wrong, has anyone heard differently?
so does at&t have all there phones IMEI in the database before the activate and they mark it as blacklist when they sale the phone if its unpaid and inactivated on any account on there network ?
At&t doesn't generally block phones regardless of what happened. They do everything with the account unless the account holder requests it be blacklisted. If they did do something on their end, they would just block it from use on their network, not others once it's unlocked. Generally I would say look for one from someone more reputable, but the fact that he admitted everything makes me think he's just going to let the account go unpaid.
the reason i ask because Red pocke SIM card works on at&t phones without unlock them.. they use at&t towers.. so its at&t based service.. and any blacklist phone will not work on Red Pocket SIM card.. im using LG G2 verizon and its blacklist on verizon but its works fine on redpocket.. the problem is i can not get 4G LTE with verizon phones i can get HSPA.. its should be at&t phone to get 4G LTE..
and the reason im trying to get that phone because its cheaper than to get it from at&t..
