Is it possible to force 5Ghz on the D855 when serving as a mobile hotspot ? I see it's possible on other models such as the T-Mobile (not allowed to post a link but its the first link if you google "lg g3 hotspot tmobile" ) however mine (D855 European) has no such option and the hotspot is only created as 2.4Ghz. I'm running Cloudy G3 and even tried restoring to stock rom to see if it was there, but still no option. Does the D855 just have a different wifi chipset or something? It can do 5Ghz receiving in Wifi mode, but is it not possible when working as a hotspot ? If it's not the chipset that is the issue are there any mods or tweaks which can set it to 5Ghz ? Thanks for any input. :good:

Anyone here know how I can get free WiFi tethering without t mobile knowing. I only have 5gb of hot spot and am almost at my limit.
You're better off posting this question or searching for your T-Mobile D851 variant answers here.
As for that question in particular, there's no mod or fix to allow it that you can do on the phone (some work but knock out LTE), but there is an app called Wifi Tether Router, that works with the G3 (I use it successfully).
You can try FoxFi and all, but their app prices are more than double the above app.
The G3 is unique in that it doesn't allow your APN to be changed and adding one breaks the LTE and data connections with T-Mobile.
For one of the threads on the tethering use with T-Mobile's G3, check out here.
Hi All
My Korean F400K LG G3 has been working fine for months until recently when WiFi started playing up - wouldnt connect etc.
I have done a reflash to original factory (F400K10g) using LG Flash program and now wifi is greyed out and not selectable at all...
I have reflashed 3 times but still no wifi - any suggestions
Phone not so useful without WiFi connection
Thanks
Frosty
Anyone have any suggestions?
Or does this sound like a hardware problem?
Lg G3 keeps losing signal. It wont connect to network unless I enter mobile network menu. Anyone had similar problem?

Hi, is the global G7 (710EM) able to switch the Wifi hotspot to 5 GHz mode? I can't find any information except the Verizon model G710VMP, where it's in the settings.
Hi Siley!
Have you found a solution? I would like to use 5 GHz hot spot too...
Cheers,
Federico
Hey,
Wondering if anyone else is having problems with 5ghz Hotspot wifi tethering? I can activate the setting but I can't always connect to it with my other devices. Most of the time it works the first time I activate 5Ghz hotspot, however if I toggle it off and then back on again, it won't work anymore until I restart the phone. The UI will show me that the hotspot is active but my other devices won't be able to find it.
I've tried it on multiple roms including a fresh install of the latest default MiUI rom, all with the same problem. I saw posts on reddit claiming that it could be a UK region bug and to try change the region to France but this doesn't solve the issue either.
2.4Ghz hotspot works everytime, however is a bit slower than 5Ghz, so I'm keen to try and get this issue resolved.
Any help is appreciated.

Yeah I understand that, however that doesn't explain why the hotspot works the first time, and never again until a device reboot.
My other devices support both 5Ghz and WPA3.
