I really hope so. If not, we need to raise awareness so Samsung fixes this.

I posted in Sprint forum, and others in other carrier forums.
The reader is defective. Lagging input and fails to recognize a print.

I have found for the best experience with the fingerprint scanner. Give it different angles of impression of the same finger while you are encoding it.

Thanks but the issue isn't the stored print, as I have recorded great prints with different angles. It's literally the sensor failing to recognize input, or lagging by 5 seconds when it notices a finger is placed or removed. The link to my thread shows detail of this

I had some issues too on 5.0.2. I stored numerous angles of my prints but there were a few days where it wouldn't recognize any of them or the sensor was really slow to pick them up. For me it went hand in hand with the home screen icons reloading/refreshing when I hit the home key. I wipe the cache and it seems to have went away for the most part. I've also read in one of the threads here in the TMO forum with folks reporting the same issue.

I have the home screen reload also, very annoying. I kept seeing reviewers rave about the finger print lock working every time. All the while I'm like, I must be doing something wrong cause it worked 50% of the time, I ran prints maybe 7 times, worked great then it became unusable. I have to use pattern lock now. I'll get mine replaced this week.

When I use my Nexus 7, sometimes the screen will flash a black screen shortly, I track the logcat using the adb. But didn't find any

Reconnect the cable of LCD can fix this problem!!!!!! the casing of nexus 7 need to be opened, but it's not hard!
If you are not able to fix it, try to use the JWR66N version!
Can't say I've seen this issue. Then again, I don't have any of the issues some are complaining about. I feel so lucky to have gotten one with no problems.
Does the black screen appear when you're doing something specific or is it completely random?

Yes, completely random. And the black screen flash in a short time. Normally it's difficult to meet.
Try to use clean ROM, but still happen. Hope the problem relate to the software but not Hardware.

I have the same issue. For a split second the screen will flash to black (off maybe) then back to whatever I'm doing. I had my tablet since the release date, but this issue started maybe a week ago.

You should still have a warranty. I think this might be some sort of bug that could be corrected maybe. It seems weird for something like this to occur out of the blue. I may go back to stock to test or try a different Rom that didn't use cm as a base.

Yes that's true and a good point. I just didnt feel like dealing with sending it in to ASUS and all that rather than just taking it back to best buy (laziness). I was thinking the same thing, that there would be a repair update and missed my easy exchange window. Never been on CM with this device so not sure if it's related. Fingers crossed, just an annoyance really... Thanks!

If the update and the factory reset doesn't work, I strongly recommend sending in the unit for RMA. While there, we can take a look at the hardware, and if needed, actually fix it for you.
My screen flicker (random black screen for a millisecond) went away after I checked the connection. I unplugged the screen, blew a little compressed air into the connection, and popped it back on. No screen flicker in sight after that.

I had the exact same issue and after reading this thread decided to take the plunge and check the connection. I am typing this on my Nexus now so I don't appear to have broken anything, however I think I have just seen the screen flash black so the problem may still be there.
Given disassembling the thing voids the warranty I would probably recommend not risking it for this issue. I'll let you know if I change my mind.

Jeez, I'm not to sure this device is all that great..I'm using a Note 3 phone and this thing is a piece of crap compared to it lol. The screen not being responsive to touches sometimes are really getting annoying. Also I'm thinking AT&T may never update this thing. Seems like they always care about the initial release then it's history.

Lots of threads on this. Yes, the screen is unresponsive. It's a true bummer. I have hope that we'll see 4.2.2, hopefully in the next month or two. When it's released, I hope it has the screen responsiveness fixes and S-Pen offset fixes in the latest wifi version OTAs. I agree with you, I'm losing some patience with this device. As a whole, I love it. I need the pen, like the screen, like that I can use PAYG data, good specs, and the form factor is perfect. Don't like that it's not updated, the screen freezes, no unlocked bootloader, no custom ROMs, and not-so-great battery life.
I hesitate to call it lag, since I assume it's waiting to check for a hold for menu action, but it doesn't exactly feel like quick multi-tasking in its current state...
I'm waiting for a fix for this too. For now I'm using switcher pro from the app store. Works great for me and actually easier to use one handed.

This worked for me! Not to derail but that's the first time I've switched over to art. It took about 20 minutes and afterwards the phone was so hot I couldn't touch the glass. Is this normal?
I was pretty surprised, but that actually helped. Still a tiny delay, but it's 1/4 to 1/2 of what it was before the switch to ART and switch back to dalvik. Thanks!

Not sure if it's the fact that my phone was rebooted during the update, but it's very smooth after the update.

54 packages updated. I didn't get a chance to pull the update. Probably just the stagefright stuff, samsung fixes, and at&t making their preloads more annoying. I don't see anything new popping up at me.

This is going to sound really strange...but can anyone who has updated their phone -and- has a Samsung wireless charging pad that has been unreliable with maintaining a charging status see if it works better now?
I have read others who have Note 5s say that a software update helped fix the problems they were having with their Samsung wireless charging pads so I was wondering if this update helped ATT Note owners.
I'm trying to induce a flashing blue error in my pad right now, but so far I've re-positioned my phone about four times and it's stayed solid blue each time. Kind of frustrating because I just processed a refund for it via Amazon.
May just be my imagination but it seems that my fingerprint reader is a lot quicker and more accurate. I had been having issues since installing a tempered glass screen protector, but now works the first time every time.

Hi all,
I have recently been noticing ghost scrolls, where I would be slowly scrolling downwards, say, in the XDA app or reddit app, and randomly it would scroll quickly upwards when I lift my fingers. I was thinking this was a hardware issue so I got a replacement device on the way. However, I saw this https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/7rczu2/scrolling_up_when_scrolling_down/.
Has anyone else been experiencing the same thing? I posted a vid and pic https://imgur.com/a/ny8fT. The second pic is touch input trace enabled in developer options, you can see there was a ghost long fast drag down to the bottom below the navbar.
Have been away from XDA for a while, please let me know if I am going against any rules about posting images hosted on other sites.
I wonder if something like this is what causes Twitter to randomly show me a different tweet when I tap on one. (maybe it's doing a phantom scroll briefly).

yep, thats happened to me a few times before as well. Not twitter specifically, but in reddit I would click on a post, and somehow I would end up on some random other post like 2 post below it, and if I hit back once, I get to the post I originally intended to click on instead of the subreddit list.
So there must be some sort of ghost touches/scrolls on finger release, causing the unintended post to be queued up just before the intended one.
I'm surprised there hasn't been more people bringing up this issue (assuming this is indeed a software 8.1 issue and not an isolated issue in the touch panel).
Reddit has done that to me too, come to think of it.
Agreed that it's surprising we aren't hearing more of this. Makes me wonder if I should do a warranty swap.

Oh really? Have you only experienced this on 8.1 only, or also 8.0? I had the pixel 2 xl back in October/November on 8.0 and didn't experience any of this. I just repurchased the 2 xl several days ago and immediately noticed it within the first few hours of playing around with it.
I think it definitely is a software bug, if not a hardware issue. The touch input trace shows a ghost drag of a perfectly straight line to the bottom of the touch panel with an incredibly high Yv, I got one as high as 179. Normal hard flick scrolling would top out at around 30 or 40, so definitely something fishy going on here, whether it's software or hardware.
It happens for me like between 5 and 10 times within half an hour to an hour, and they are usually annoying enough where I lose my place where I was scrolling.

Any update with the replacement device? I am having the same sporadic ghost scroll: I'll be scrolling down a page on reddit or slickdeals app (happens with other apps as well), and randomly it'll perform a strong up-scroll... I notice it more often when I lay in bed on my side, and have the screen orientation locked to portrait, resting the phone on the bed horizontally...

Replacement device has the same issue, so this is definitely a software bug. Hopefully Google fixes it soon in the next patch update.
Nexus 6P here. I started getting these ghost touches with the last security update. 8.1 is the problem, not a solution.
My mom has the same issue of touch on places she doesn't touch, on Pixel XL.
Could it be the same?
Here is a video about it that I took, just by scrolling in the settings screen:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JCsTuMDvMNHh0CO7sF7yoLFT26uNIhUp/
It's a bit hard to reproduce, but it occurs eventually.
Has anyone tried to use Android P, and see if it helps?
Anyway, I've reported about this here too:
