How to unblock SMS to non-standard numbers? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Hello everyone.
So the bank that I use has a service that allows you to check your account via SMS. When I first got this phone, I texted my request to 24273. A popup appeared asking if I wanted to block or allow this number because it "might incur charges."
In my haste in that moment, I hit BLOCK and the ALWAYS box was checked. I've looked through every setting I could think of and cannot find a way to change that saved setting.
Can somebody help me out?

Nothing that I can see but the only thing that comes to mind is clearing the data for messages in application manager.

Is there some sort of app or registry setting that I could change that'd ask if I wanted to resend the message? Having to retype in messages is rather annoying.
According to this post Windows Mobile 6.1 added this feature but I don't see it and I'm running 6.5. Maybe the HTC TouchFlo 3D interface removed it?

It doesn't retain a copy of the message in your drafts folder, or outbox...? Whenever I get that message I can just pull it up from there and hit send again
Whenever I get this message, after trying to resend it a few times, I realize I tried sending a text to an email address.
Make sure the number has an area code as part of the number.
Just another possible solution.

this is the correct answer...if you have a good signal and you get that error msg, then that person has not paid their billy bill...
This problem comes up quite often if you've flashed a different radio onto your device. If you have flashed a custom radio, try out another or stock. If that's not the case, you might be in a poor coverage area. Both are common culprits, but may not apply for you.
SMS doest go to outbox folder
I have the same problem
When I have no service coverage I would like to type sms messages and as soon as I get it make phone send them all out. But unfortunately, when I don't have service HTC touch pro 2 keeps trying to send sms out and after a couple of attempts gives me message that it was not able to send it. I have to click on each message and resend it when I have service. Instead, I want my phone to put all sms into outbox sms folder and send them all when I actually have service.
I know other phones perform this function well. I went thru all settings but couldn't get it to put sms into outbox when no service available.
Does anyone have fix for that?
Also having a similar problem
Hi all,
Same, or similar thing with me. I'm on Vodafone in the UK, and I've got a friend who is on '3' in the UK. If I text him with a new fresh message, and hit send, it goes to him no problems. If he replies and I attempt to reply back - then I get "Your message could not be sent. Try again?" underlined in red. Tapping on this just generates the same problem again and again.
I've tried his number with/without spaces in it, ensured his contact name has no non-alpha characters in it, tried his number in +447xxx format as well as 07xxxx - all to no avail.
It does not happen with any other contact in my phonebook and I end up having to let the message fail, then forwarding my reply to him, so it leaves my device as a new message.
Now, as it's the UK, its nothing to do with him having not paid his bill (we don't get charged to receive SMS in the UK), and I've got great signal (I work for a Vodafone associated company and we've got a cell on-site, so it's full signal of HSUPA for me).
I am completely at a loss to understand why this happens - I have other friends on '3' that SMS's go to fine, so I'm guessing it's not a Vodafone to '3' issue either.
Any ideas anyone?!
Adam C.
PS: Stock ROM running WM6.5, unlocked GSM, nothing odd about the configuration/software either!
...bump.
Anyone?
Thx,
a.
change your network setting for automatic to manual. and enable call waiting now your problem is solved. i was suffering from the same problem but now solved

Removing "Send message" from contacts?

Is there any way to remove the "Send message to #######" from a contact's details? It seems to be a mistake that you get that option on any number not selected as "mobile" in the first place. If I can't deselect specific numbers, can I have it not show any "send message"? My plan has no free texts (I use GTalk instead) so having all those entries just clutters up my contacts...

instead of setting it to "mobile", pick "custom" and type mobile in and itll still say mobile and maybe it wont have the text option...
i havent tried im just saying...it could work, if not i dunno...

Didn't work.
To clarify, the ones that I think are especially stupid to have "Send message" on are the ones with "Home" or "Work" as the type. It's like whoever created the contacts app thought you could send a text message to any and all phones.
I know what you mean. It annoys the hell outta me too. For now, I don't know of any way to fix it.
If you're rooted, you may be able to replace the APK with a different phone app, specifically one from vanilla Android, if it can be done.

I would not like to "Text" Work numbers

Is it just me, or is there anyway to remove the option to Send a Message to any numbers not designated as "Mobile"?
In my address book, numbers designated as Home or Work still give me the option to Text them.
Its frustrating to accidentally send a Text to my Wife's work number, because I selected the wrong option in People, when it shouldnt even show as an option unless its a Mobile.
Any one able to help on this?

I'm not trying to sound mean or anything but maybe just don't text the wrong number...?? Generally you should probably know your wife's cell phone number vs. her work number.

Yes, I do, and you are right, user error is the most at fault here.
I know my wife's cell number, but I hardly know anyone elses. Thats why I keep a detailed Google address book, so that I dont have to.
However I still think its silly that it allows you to designate numbers as mobile or not, but then automatically gives you an option to text non-mobile numbers. Is it not?
And if it is silly, its something Id like to correct if I could, hence asking the community if anyone else has seen this, and knows of any way to address it besides always pushing the decision on the user.
That's a good point. I thought that was annoying as well. I do most of my messaging straight from the messaging app but it still shows all numbers. It's a bit annoying.

Sorry I don't have an answer, just want to say I'm with u on this. I think its reasonable to expect such a genius phone to know it can't send a text to a land line.
Although, as I type this I'm realizing that more companies are using cell phone for their primary lines and employees. Who knows, maybe we will be able to send texts to land lines someday soon. If a regular phone has an lcd for cid display why couldn't it display a text message... things that make you go "hmmm"
I asked a similar question before in a different thread... but does anyone know if the People app source is ever released when they release the source for the EVO ROM?
I imagine the hardest part about excluding the option to message other numbers would be finding the right spot to implement an if statement. Then would it be possible to compile the APK and install that custom version on my phone? While I would be in there I'd probably address the First name sorting problem
I'm 100% with you on this. I know it's part of user control but it shouldn't have to be.
There should be a checkable option in the Messages/SMS app: "Include Non-Mobile Numbers" and it should be off by default.
I also wish you could exclude certain contacts in the Messages/SMS app. There are people at work I would never text but I have their number in case they call me (I often am the "go-to IT guy") so I know who it is.
Ah well, we can hope!
I'm so with everyone on this..It annoys the hell out of me.
but you know what? I found out that apparently Sprint has some kind of service that will txt to landlines.
txt your home phone and you'll see..maybe there is a way to turn that off i dont know. didnt check much further into it

Yes, I've done it by accident many times. Those who I've texted (landline instead of wireless), said they answered the call and was given the option of having my text "read" to them. In fact, I just did it yesterday to my brother, thought I was texting his cell and instead sent it to his home. His wife answered and some "computer lady" read her my text...

I know this version of the G1's Contact.apk has this option (it was my request of the dev lol)
It works on my EVO (2.1 rooted) but MAN it's ugly after using People for the last few days.

I hate to say it but some people's mobile number is their home number. Lots of peep no longer have land lines at all. If you put a filter on what the sms app shows you would likely have as many people unhappy about that as you do this. If your going to error, do it on the side of making things possible as opposed to restricting things is likely the logic in play here.

I thought the messaging app did have that option then I realized I use handsent and it does have a mobile only option in its send settings.

i guess it depends on how many contacts you have but you could create a group that only contained mobile numbers. Although if you have a significant amount of contacts this would probably be a pain
I created separate "land" contacts for those I text and that have land lines. Lousy but works.

[Q] Problem - 'Rogue Contact' :(

Please save a poor woman from getting unwanted texts
I run a junior football squad.
One of the 'soccer mums' originally gave me a wrong mobile number starting 07940 ... which resulted in a poor woman getting lots of texts from me.
I corrected the number on the contact to 07540 ...
If I send a text directly the text goes to 07540 ...
If I reply to a text from 07540... the text actually goes to the 07940 number
If I try and dial 07940... then it comes up with no suggested numbers/contacts. When I receive a text from the poor pestered woman it still comes up with the contact name.
So. I tried deleting the contact (John Smith) and recreated it using a different name (John S). I can no longer find a John Smith in my contacts (even when ticking all the sources to look in - GMAIL, FBOOK etc).
However Gesture Search still finds a John Smith somewhere I have refreshed the index and even reinstalled gesture search but it still finds a John Smith.
Also the SMS thread containing a variety of the 07540 and 07940 numbers all now say they are from JOHN S.
Im confused but the woman receiving rogue texts is getting very p****d off.
Anyone ???
Is it possible that the rogue number is synchronised to your Gmail account, so even if you delete it, it will resync to your phone? Check your gmail account for that number.
Also go to the good number and make sure it's not linked to the rogue one.
Tried that. The contact john smith isn't on my gmail at all. The only place I can find it is using gesture search
Worst come to worst, Settings > Privacy >Factory data reset.
have you tried changing the default number in use in the people app?

Stock Samsung Messages App

I have just started using the Samsung Stock Messages app for SMS, coming from Textra.
I noticed that when I hit compose and enter a contact name, it shows all the phone numbers for that person. It doesnt even show which are mobile and which are not.
On Textra it labeled the numbers, and it also had an option to only show Mobile numbers.
Is there any way to do this on the Messages app? Its really confusing as I cant always tell which is even the right number to select for a text message to a contact...seems weird.
Thanks.

It does show mobile and other like work etc for me, open the messages app > contacts tab at the bottom > select contact > if contact has more than one number saved a pop-up appears with names of different numbers shown
Thanks for the reply. I feel like I am missing something as this process is so cumbersome for me that it almost doesnt make sense...
1 - in Textra and others, I hit the compose text button and start typing a name. it then immediately will show any associated numbers with labels so you can see which is the mobile, which is the home, etc. in this stock app I just see the contact name with a bunch of numbers. and if I hit one, it doesnt bring up any sort of window with all the labels.
2- following your directions, if I first go to the contacts tab (already an extra step) I see along list of all of my contact names. There is a search button, but if I hit that and type a contact, I again see an unlabeled list of numbers.
3 - if I manually scroll down the entire list until I find my contact, then when I press it I see a pop up with labels.
Any which way this is a LOT of steps to compose a text message - seems like it doesnt make sense. there is no more streamlined way?

Not that I know of, this is why there are 3rd party apps with a lot more time and attention gone into adding features over stock, personally I just leave conversations in my messages app so I can open and text direct from there, only the first ever message you send them you have to perform those steps
Why not just stick with Textra?
Great question!
Sadly, something is screwed up with AT&T, my Galaxy S9 and text messaging.
Several weeks ago, I started having an issue where I am sporadically not getting random texts. They just never appear - and then people are wondering why I didnt reply. To troubleshoot this, I went to the AT&T portal and checked the log of text messages...the missing messages are never even hitting my AT&T number, so it seems this is not an app issue.
AT&T has so far been useless in diagnosing this. But googling around, I have noticed that a number of people have had this issue and it seems AT&T's "Advanced Messaging" feature is a possible culprit. There have been reports that deactivating this has solved the issue for some users.
Unfortunately the only way to deactivate this that I have uncovered is through the stock app. And if I deactivate this in the stock app and then switch to another app like Textra, it is getting turned on again automatically. I have not discovered any way to keep this deactivated while using a 3rd party SMS app.
Crazy but tragically seems to be the case...very frustrating.

There is an app called "Package Disabler Pro" which allows without root, the disabling of system packages, if you know what the advanced messaging package is called, you might be able to permanently disable it without having to have the stock SMS app as default, perhaps disabling the Samsung stock SMS app would also do it (Just read here that Disabling the messages app on the S10+ allows Textra to work)
https://www.reddit.com/r/galaxys10/comments/blcs1b/textra_no_sent_messages_only_received_messages/
Contacting the Textra dev would be a good idea too, ask them to add the feature you need into textra
I am also seeing another method that may disable it, by disabling VoLTE
https://textra.uservoice.com/knowle...80-t-mobile-at-t-verizon-missing-messages-rcs
Looks like that is for T-Mobile but worth a shot, if AM uses VoLTE it should kill it
