[Q] Lte disconnected during call, new feature? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6

I tried searching this, but didn't come up with any answers. I've noticed that on the S6 the LTE data connection disconnects when I'm in a call. On my s4, I was able to talk on my headset and still be on the Internet on the phone (On Lte anyways. 3g would disconnect during a call on the s4). My initial suspicion was that the S6 has some functionality for calls over LTE, but I thought sprint wasn't using that.
Anyone else notice this difference or have more background information on why it's happening?

Blame Sprint and their Sprint Spark network -_-

since the Galaxy s5 they use one radio for voice and data where as before there was one radio for cdma/voice and another radio for lte/3g so now you can't have voice and data till they roll out some sort of volte like some other carriers have

no 3g/4g while calling... normal or weird?(cdma)

So everytime I call someone or receive a call,
the 3g on the status bar disappears instantly.
right after I end the call,
I have signal again immediately.
is this suppose to happen to Verizon phones?
I'm confused because I came from at&t. never had such thing on it.
So is Verizon suppose to be like this?
if so is there any mod/tweak that enables me to use data while calling?

Yes, this is supposed to happen. You can't do voice + data over 3g, but you can do voice + data over 4g. There is no "mod" available for that will enable the use of data while in a call on 3g.
Verizon is CDMA, which doesn't offer simultaneous voice/data like GSM does. Unless your phone has SVDO (like the Thunderbolt) it won't do data and talk at the same time over 3G... The VZW GNex doesn't have SVDO.
For the longest time this has been a pain for CDMA carriers (the few that are left) and they're gonna get past it with VoLTE eventually. You'll still see AT&T run ads comparing their iPhone to the VZW iPhone because it can do voice+data at the same time.
If you're on LTE, you can browse LTE data and talk on 3G at the same time, however.
maguro user here. i was talking about this with a work colleague yesterday, and i said data didn't work at the same time as voice, only with gprs/edge. he had me call his cellphone, while on UMTS/3g/H, and data call was still on as i made the call, and let the phone ring a few times.

[Q] Long delay when dialing out

Is anyone experiencing a long delay when dialing out? I am on stock rooted ROM. One of my buddies is having the same issue also. The delay is about 5-10 seconds. I don't have this issue when I use the same SIM card with my old iPhone.

I have this with my Note II, and so did my Note I and my Streak.
I have seen this on a few of my friends devices. Test this for me
Make a phone call and watch your data icon. It will go from 4g LTE to 4g then disappear the the call will go through.
Then call your phone and watch as the data icon goes from 4g to nothing then ring.
It seems to b a problem with a few select phones. Not sure if its a software or hardware issue. But I have reported the issue to at&t and samsung . Due to the fact that I have seen it on 4 phones

This is exactly what I have noticed!!!! I am also not sure if it's a software or hardware issue.
Seems normal to me. Voice over LTE is not (yet) enabled/available/supported. For voice, the radio has to switch from LTE to UMTS, and then establish a connection to the new network.

The issue is a total loss of data. So no talk and surf

Just a quick check - is data set to be LTE-only? You generally can't have simultaneous voice and LTE data.
You could try turning off LTE data and forcing WCDMA/GSM data. That might help.
Also, the signal has to be very strong for simultaneous voice and data. When there is low signal strength, the carrier may have elected to suppress data in favour of voice.
You could also experiment with other baseband firmware. That has made a difference on some of my other phones. The configuration of the carrier's towers plays a big role. However, in my limited experience, signal strength has been the key factor.
Good luck!
I have had two phones with the stock builds and base bands next to each other with all the same settings and one works fine the other doesn't.
The weird thing on top of it is that 50% of the time when making outgoing calls it fails. And when people call they receive the message that the line is no longer in service

Stab in the dark: That sounds like a loose antenna connection - if it happens to the same phone all the time (that was the cause of a similar issue on my old Moto Milestone); or a carrier issue - if it happens on the same tower. (Just because two phones are side by side doesn't mean that they are connected to the same tower.)
The code for radio info is *#0011# http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1802028 (I know we're not talking about fast dormancy - well, we are talking about radio state switching for the OP - but that thread and Erica's two XDA videos on fast dormancy have lots of good info on radios and data.)
I'm all out of ideas now ...

[Q] Data and phone call/SMS

I started noticing a weird thing happening with the phone - the data switches from 4g/LTE to 4G whenever I get a call or an SMS. Very annoying especially when I tether, since it instantly drops my connection speed. It might go back to LTE, it might not, more often not though for some time after I end the call. Is this normal?

HMMM good question. That would be an answer that most likely only T-MO Network support can answer.
Tmobile hasn't implemented Vo lte

[Q] Voice calls and data at the same time?

Hello,
I just got this phone yesterday. Upgrading from HTC Evo 4g LTE.
Today I was on a conference call and tried to access the web and could not. I noticed I did not have the LTE or any indication of mobile data networking ( associated icons). Does this phone handle voice and data at the same time ( not on wifi ).
If not I will have to return this in disbelief.
Thanks
Mike
Please close this thread. After searching i found this thread:

Doesn't seem like you can use data and voice together. A work around looks like hangouts dialer. I just downloaded it. Error " phone calling is not supported for this account with this version of hangouts ". Guess i'll have to use the search field to see what/if anything can be done.
Even though I got that error message I was able to make a call. Worked on Wifi and LTE network....this might work out.....

This is a Sprint Spark limitation. All Sprint Spark phones are limited to 1 radio at a time, so you can't have 1 channel running voice and another running data. When you are making a voice call your phone drops down to 1xRTT. The up side is better battery life and the ability to use 800mhz, 1900mhz and 2500mhz LTE (one at a time), the down side is no Simultaneous Voice and Data (unless you are on WiFi).
In the long term everyone will move to Voice over LTE, which will allow data and voice simultaneously again. There is no time frame for this yet with Sprint and the Note4 was listed in the FCC specs as not supporting VOLTE.
Do all new sprint phones have spark? Any time frame for volte?
I had heard whether it's true or not Intel late 15 early 16 for the start of roll out of volte.

Thanks everyone. Guess i will have to see if i can do without data while using voice.
Get a note3 pretty close to the same phone ya I know there are some major difference but if u really need date and voice that will be way more important than any lil difference between phones

Thanks @sliverr7x, I would do that, but i want the newest available phones.

no calls or data on ROGERS Canada

Hi all, I hope I can get help here since I'm getting crazy trying to have my p8000 with Rogers connectivity.
I've tryed on both Stock and Eragon roms with same results.
The phone seems to only be able to find 1 network - ROGERS 4G. It registers it, but then I can only get the messaging to work... both calls and internet are still down.
Also important to say that the reason why I can't see the LTE might be related to my old sim card. I'll be replacing it soon.
Anyways, in the mean time I could use some help with:
- assuming I can only connect to the 4g, should I be able to have calls at all? are calls delivered through 4g? 3g? 2g? all?
- Any reason why I can only see 4g? is the phone not capable of connecting to 2g/3g?
- anything else I could try? different modem drivers, some app to assist on this?
Thanks
update
I partially solved the issue...
few notes.... since I leave in canada, the 3g frequencies do not work...
So, I can only have internet with 2g or 4g....
no this brings one other issue regarding receiving phone calls while phone is in 4g... it does not know the calls are coming since they are transmitted using 2g... any way phone monitors 2g incoming calls while using 4g internet?
Hi
Any progress on this. I have the same issue (p8000 and rogers) Have you found a solution?
I'm on Rogers with the P8000. When it is showing 4G, I'm surfing away fine. Making a call, it switches to 2G because like most carriers (other than Wind/Mobilicity), voice calls are on the 2G network. I dont believe the P8000 has 3G bands that we use in N.America so you are only going to get 4G or 2G.
According to willmyphonework.net, the P8000 is able to use all of the frequencies. Therefore, you should have 2g, 3g and LTE.
Is this not the case?
