Hybrid (TPU & Silicone) case for $2 on ebay

This is my short review of some cheap $2 hybrid cases that I purchased from ebay. I'm using the GSM Galaxy Nexus and the fit is good and tight. They can be purchased here and from other sellers on ebay. I'm not affiliated with these sellers in any way. The case is a HYBRID case as it's made by thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and silicone material. It's more flexible than traditional hard cases made of polycarbonate (PC), yet it retains its shape better then soft rubber silicone cases. It gives full protection (top and bottom) unlike some other cases. You can access all of the buttons and ports easily. For the price, I think that these cases are pretty much unbeatable. I've used hard cases and full silicone cases on other phones before, but I never liked them. This is the perfect combination in my opinion. Hard cases are nice, but they don't offer much impact protection if you drop your phone and they tend to break easily. Silicone cases offers the best protection, but they are bulky and don't fit very snugly around the phone. Also, silicone cases are very flexible therefore they can slip off of the phone very easily. Hybrid cases offer much of the impact protection of silicone cases, but also the thinness and the snug fit of hard TPU cases. In my opinion, hybrid cases offers a great compromise between the two extremes.

Recieved it, i put my otterbox commuter hardshell over it and it looks amazing!!

Best Cases, I have white, grey and black. I think white looks the best though

I may be necroposting but I have to post here and say that this is the best "cheap" case I bought so far off of eBay. This case fits tight and offers a very slim profile.
For less than $2, you really have nothing to lose and it fits perfectly as well. I got fed up with my previous cases because of the bulk and issues with feeling, so I ended up just not using any case. This is my daily driver as far as cases go.

hows the fit with extended 2000mah battery on the gsm nexus?

These are some of the cases I recently received, ordered on ebay via various vendors. Most cost around $1-2 with 3 costing $4-5, shipped free. I will try to input my opinions on most. Right off the bat I can tell you they all fit snugly and have cutouts for easy access to ports. But if you have any questions on any particular one, go ahead ask me.
EDIT: Forgot to mention I have an xtremeguard full body protector on the Blue phone and all of these fit with the exception of the RED SGP*. They fit tightly on the White phone, that doesn't have a back cover protector installed.
I've included front and back, installed on Blue (I9300) and White (T999) versions.

Very Thin, smooth rubbery feel (I usually don't like rubbery backs as they tend to peel, but this has a nice texture to it). Has face lip. Hard shell snap on. Could easily be a favorite, but didn't like the yellow color.

Super Thin 0.5mm, Translucent frost gray. No face lip, slight camera rise. Textured, but not grippy. Practically nude feel in hand. 2nd preferred.:good:

My only recommendation is that you take the pics in daylight without flash. Flash illuminates and reflects giving a incorrect representation of the actual color.

Yeah it was 30 total pictures, there was enough lighting in the office, but the flash was on auto. The ebay links have additional photos. But great suggestion. I'll see if I feel like doing that again

I finally got my Mercury Pearl TPU delivered after 7 weeks~
It is IMHO the best looking and fitting TPU for the SGS3.

Best fitting even though the cutouts at the back dont line up properly?
It adds the most thickness of the cases too right?
Is it much thicker than the green sgp case you have?

Don't go for slickwraps!
I ordered a skin for my s7 edge and it didn't even last 3 months. Better go for Dbrand as quality is better and you can get good discounts if you're buying more than one.

Dbrand don't have natural series .

I've tried both and go back to Slickwraps nature series as they feel great, last ages, and are made from real leather. DBrand are leather patterns printed on Vinyl, not real leather.

Closest I found on Amazon is Galaxy S8 iPlus Flip Case $29.98 /w Free Shipping. Average of 5 stars on 128 reviews.

The "Distressed Tan Leather" on the slickwraps ordering page is so much lighter than this in color. This looks more like the Dark Brown... now I'm really unsure which one I want to order.. I assume the dark brown is going to be REALLY dark then?

How does this feel on the phone? I know the natural series are thicker so they stick up more. I got one for my Nexus 6 but I didn't like the way it felt so I took off the actual plastic back and applied the skin as a back replacement directly to the internals so it would sit flush. How does it feel on the S8 though? I've been thinking about getting one for a while cause I love the leather look and feel, right now I'm using a Pierre Cardin leather case but I really prefer the phone to be naked.

Can these rip? I mean once they're on the device? They offer no protection whatsoever, correct? I'm not asking to say they're not good, just that ascertain if they offer any protection to the device or are they just for show? Would they work if you tired to use a battery case such as a mophie atop them? No, wouldn't try it, but just curious HOW thick they are.

I just installed this on my s8+. it's a great skin. Only problem is that it does not work with the rhinoshield crashguard bumper. The buttons are real hard to press after the skin is installed and it sides come off even more. If anyone knows of any good cases that'd work with the leather skin let me know

I am using Blackened Ash on my S8+ with RhinoShield CrashGuard. Since these pics I got bottom corners under CrashGuard a little bit better. Doesn't look PERFECT but excellent combo for me. [emoji122][emoji108][emoji106] When holding phone people just see top half anyways and bottom corners being imperfect isn't super noticible. Maybe one of the leather wraps that could "compress" a TINY bit would go under CrashGuard better. Unsure.

Best Skins?

Hey guys,
New to the phone skin game, contemplating getting one for my XL2. Who makes the best ones? What do you all recommend?

I've used Toast skins before (toastmade.com) on my Nexus 6P. Cool idea. Gave them custom artwork and they laser etched it. Fit well also. Would use again. Thicker than slickwraps and dbrand etc though

I'll check them out. I have heard of dbrand before. I got the black xl2 and am contemplating skinning it like the Panda model lol.

If you are going to put a clear case over the skin I would recommend the d-brand.

I just placed an order with Slickwraps. They have a 50% off deal right now and have a whole Panda style section of wraps. $13 shipped is pretty cheap lol

Just got the same skin and I'm rocking it in my clear ringke. I love toast skins but am too ADD to keep it on forever, they're one time apply for like almost $40.

Looking sweet. I'm waiting on mines to get here.

Hands down dbrand. I have the dragon skin on all of my phones since I don't like cases. It has good grip and looks different. I tried the white dbrand and I didn't like it as well. I also use the skin to hide the black magnetic patch for the Mountek mount.

I have a Toast Made wood skin (actual wood) on my Nexus 6P. Application was very easy, did not require a hair dryer. Fit was effortlessly perfect, and wood side button covers are very nice. They are unfortunately one time use, and a bit pricey, but the feel in the hand is great, and at a little less than a millimeter thick (of wood), it does offer a very, very small amount of protection from scratches (and a drop on concrete on one of my corners).
Their store page for the Pixel 2 doesn't really work yet (CS said they were still uploading pictures and renders). I put in an order today for a custom one in the vein of the Nexus 6P 'Adopted Nexus' inlay and etch option, with Ebony main, and Ash inlays, and no branding. I'l post final price and pictures once I get it.

This isn't a picture of mine, but it is the exact same design and wood options I chose. Believe it or not mine actually looks better than the one pictured due to aging, minor wear, and patina (because its actual wood). Definitely the best phone accessory purchase I've made in the decade of such purchases I've made (excluding headphones).

This is slick as hell looking. I bought something very similar with white carbon fiber. Going to start with matte black and white and then will move to the carbon fire/dragon later.

I bought the black matte Dbrand skin with the red G and absolutely loved the way it looked. But I had to take it off and put my case back on because it was too slippery. Worked great when my hands were a little "sweaty" but my hands are usually pretty dry. How is the grip on the dragon and carbon fiber skin? Do they have more a shiny plastic feel? The matte feels exactly like if you didn't have the skin on. It feels like the paint on the XL itself.

Nice! I ordered the dbrand Grip case with the Matrix skin. I will provide pictures when it arrives in a couple of days (overseas shipping).

How is the texture of the skin? Would you consider it slippery or does it have any grip to it?

Out of curiosity, are the skins easily removed (in case of an application error and/or to change them)? The instructions look pretty straight forward, but I'm a bit hesitant to pay 15 bucks for my clumsy fingers to destroy it at my first go
Also, will having a skin on make it difficult to use a case if I need to at some point?

For those who asked the standard finish skins probably feel quite similar to back of the Pixel. Medium grip. The skins with texture, particularly the small round pattern one (think it might be called Matrix) is definately grippier.

It's smooth, but slightly grippy if that makes sense. It's a matte texture.

Skin is easily removed, and I am using mine with a case at the moment with no issue.

I have used a few dbrand skins on my Nexus 6, Nexus 6P and Pixel 2 XL, Dragon having the most grip and matte black and yellow the least. The matrix was in between.
I you're looking for best grip go with the dragon.

I'll be honest, the carbon fiber dbrand skin in my experience is slippery but it looks so cool! Plus I got a rhinoshield bumper case to make it look even cooler!
