Is it possible to safely downgrade from Lollipop back to KitKat? I have a TWRP backup that I can restore from, but I'm not sure if it will work after updating to Lolipop in case if I don't end up liking Lollipop.

I don't think there should be an issue if you do a full wipe.

My Backup works perfectly fine (Switching from Lollipop and Kitkat). You should be good as long as you do a normal wipe.
I've done it a few times just testing the update process. It's probably overkill but I format data and do an advanced wipe of everything but the external SD card. A couple of months ago when I was trying CM12 I bricked my phone restoring a backup when I didn't do a thorough wipe. I think I was restoring a CM12 backup, but in any case I've gone from KitKat to Lollipop and Lollipop to Kitkat multiple times without problems using twrp backups.

I just got this phone yesterday. I rooted with HTCDev and then I got S-Off with firewater and SuperCID. Ever since I installed Android Revolution 8.1 it reboots constantly. I have wiped cache, did a fresh install even tried to flash CM, but the reboots are still there. I am on 2.xxx.xxx framework and have TWRP recovery. Any help? I think it might be related to memory leaks, but I am not entirely sure.
Did you do a full wipe before install.

I always do. No matter the rom I am flashing or where I'm coming from. My OCD doesn't handle dirty flashing at all.
Have you tried to flash img file from your Rom via adb. Did you make a backup ?

Are you on Verizon ? I don't know much about HTC One M8 variants but it seems some complication there. Maybe a restore to Verizon ROM/firmware can help you.
Anyway .. here is the Verizon thread if needed : http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-one-m8
You mentioned that you installed ARHD 8.1 ROM ... which firmware that you installed ? I know you are not a noob but sometimes people confuse the different of a firmware and a ROM

I'm not entirely sure. I will keep this thread updated, if I have anymore random reboots. I figured just doing a clean install would be a good start to resolve the problem; it always is.
Just had my first reboot. I think it might be due to greenify. Does anyone have experience with this app and the HTC One M8
Greenify wont cause reboots. Are you running a custom kernel and undervolting by any chance?

Try to downgrade your firmware to 1.54.x.x...or if you stick with 2.x.x.x try ARHD 9.1 to see if it makes any difference

The easiest way is to use the "flashing firmware without the panic attacks" thread and update your firmware. Then simply flash a Lollipop ROM.
Again, that's the simplest way. The hard way is to return to stock, stock recovery, have no system changes and see if you can OTA update.

How I can flash lollipop on my HTC one? Can you guide me or share some useful link for installation.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
I told you already... Post 2 .
Use this guide to update your firmware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development/firmware-flashing-panic-attacks-t2824048
Then flash Lollipop based rom. If you like stock, try Maximus HD. It's very close to stock.
?
Or, look for your stock recovery here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
And flash it. Bug your system must be in tact. If you've uninstalled any system apps, or have xposed, then you need to look for your stock nandroid and flash it.... Then the stock recovery.
Or as said above, find the RUU for your device. Your current version will restore you stock, then ota will work. Or the Lollipop ruu if it's available yet.
According to a tweet by @llabtofer, lollipop is rolling out for Taiwan useres. Android version is 5.0.2 and unfortunately the update doesn't include sense 7 which will be available for our device but with Android 5.1.

I'll go back to stock for a couple of days to get the official update as soon as it gets released for my CID.
Can anyone upload lollipop rom??
I am not able to update from update notification. I think this is the reason that I restored my phone which was bricked from stock twrp stck backup. In order to update lollipop, I restored the stock kernel and recovery but it doesn't work. There is no way except someone upload backup or skydragon rom. :crying::crying:
Hopefully someone can capture the ota and upload it!

To go back to stock I restored my First nandroid and then flashed stock recovery which I took from the ota zip.
Bootloader is unlocked, rom is unrooted because I made the backup as soon as I installed TWRP and before rooting.
You might want to double Check what you say in your second post because my device is unlocked and I don't see any viettel stuff in it. CID is HTC_044.

HTC Desire 816w OTA
I have the ota file for the 816w A5_DUG. All you have to do is unroot, flash a stock recovery, and flash it in stock recovery. Thats what i did. I made sure to make a backup before all that if screwed up, not to mention a titanium backup.

Excactly. I had to unroot. The most important thing I found is flashing correct recovery. This one I found on this forum from version 1.60 was causing problems on my device, so I had to extract recovery from OTA. After flashing it everything was ok, except error with file /system/xbin/nc but workaround for this was already described.
I'm updated, my version is 816 W (unicon).
Hi guys, Been reading the TWRP guidebut cannot seem tho find the answer to this directly and I'm looking for clarification on the title question, can someone confirm for me please?, if not is it just rooting that will Bork OTA? And if I have a fulll stock backup will restoring it then allow OTA again?

lets see if i can simplify it
TWRP 2.8.5.0 = OTA broken
TWRP 2.8.6.0 = OTA broken
TWRP 2.8.6.4 beta = system locked read only long enough to make a system backup (used below)
TWRP 2.8.6.4 beta + SuperSU = OTA broken
using fastboot flash system system.img to restore your system backup allows OTA again
you also have to flash stock recovery to regain OTA ability (same time you restore system)
Excellent thanks that clarifies it perfectly for me
