Ultra Power Saving Mode - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Guys, i dont know if its my phone or its an S6 issue.
When i go into ultra power saving mode it goes in perfectly, however the time that you get compared to the note 4 or the S5 is not even close.
When i go back to regular mode it takes a time, its "configuring device 0/100" and i have to wait until that finishes so i can go back into it, now if you guys try that on a note 4 or S5 it happens much quicker the transition.
Give it a try and let me know of any feedbacks.
Thanks

I have no issues transitioning as it is much faster than my S5 BUT I have noticed that the battery life is no where near what I was getting on the S5 when in UPSM. I used to get like 11.5 days....

Rom that implements Ultra Power Saving mode?

I don't have this tablet but want to get it, although I would love to use ultra power saving mode. Has one of the developers created a rom that allows this tablet to do that?

i see why this is a great feature for a phone that you need to keep connected to the network when the battery is almost dead so you dont miss anything and stay connected but what would you do with your tablet in this mode?

Well, one way I can utilize it is that I can use tasker to turn on power saving mode while my tablet is asleep and turn it off when my screen turns on. Essentially, I want to find a rom that supports UPSM so I can save battery life on my tablet. I plan on using the tablet as much as possible in school for notes, studying, and many other various things, so I want it to last and I don't want to worry about it.
My current tablet is the Asus tf300t that received alot of praise for its combined 15 hour battery life. Since that tablet is slow and slightly outdated, I need to find a new tablet that hopefully can get me through the day with no worries (like my current tablet). I don't plan to buy the Asus tf701t because of its cost and manufacturing flaws, and Asus's lack of support. I want to go with samsung because I haven't had any serious problems with my Galaxy Nexus (aside from horrible battery life) and the Galaxy S4
Essentially, that is why I want Ultra Power Saving Mode, so I can save battery life on my tablet while on the go. So, is there a rom that has that feature in it?
how much battery life would it realistically save, as the Tab Pro has LCD. It makes more sense having it on the Tab S because of the amoled screen having better battery life with black tones.

The 10.1 has a Power Save mode. See screen shot. I haven't used it. Not sure about Tasker interaction either. Just wanted to let you know about this built in feature.

thats a feature of all TW roms but he was referring to the version introduced on the S5 and also on Tab S called Ultra Power Saving. you might have seen it on S5 commercial. here is some info.

So how do you like it so far?

I'm going to be getting the G3 Friday and enroll in the new $100 for 4 people with 10gb data plan. Wondering how do you like your guy's G3's so far? Is the battery life good? 3gb of sufficient? Does the snapdragon 801cut it for you guys?
One thing I noticed was the development for this phone is slower than other G3 phones even with an unlocked bootloader.
How do you guys like the screen? I liked it but sometimes I thought it might look washed out just slightly. And the digitizer effect is there alright. But over all its the best phone to get right now.
Also for the techies, how much vram does the adreno use out of the 3gb memory. I bet its around 512mb huh?
Battery life for me kinda blows. Screen on kills it pretty fast. Out does look amazing though. I switched from a Sony Xperia ZL. I like the G3 better but there are things I like about the ZL over the G3 and vice versa.
Get it. In my eperience the battery life is amazing. I get 30+ hours with approximately 4-4.5 hours screen on time. As you mentioned It's also arguably the best phone out atm. The screen is beautiful and nothing I've seen comes close to it (s5/m8). The only issue I've had so far is the phone getting too hot but that's probably due to the fact that I've disabled the auto brightness feature when the phone gets too hot. I may have to change that back if it occurs again. All in all I couldn't be happier with my purchase!

I got my G3 this morning along with a S4 for my wife when we switched from Verizon to TMO.
I had a S4 with Verizon and absolutely loved it. Had it running to perfection with safesterap and Echo rom v26.1............could get 36hrs between charges and I had it set up sweet
SO it took a bit to get everything set with TMO, and get all my basic apps set and my Apex launcher set before I rooted and set all the rooted apps up as well as loading the latest TWRP recovery.
I gotta say for what I have seen so far, its so fricken worth it. G3 tweakbox gives about 90% of all the customization I need....be good to throw a theme on top of some of the stock stuff but heck I can live with that.
I'll update in a couple days, but so far, I am impressed
I've had the g3 for about 4 days. Coming from Nexus 5. I don't like the default launcher so installed nova prime. Nova prime forgets its the default launcher about once a day. LG Health is nice but you have to set up a shortcut action on nova. It doesn't show up in the apps list. I installed the google keyboard but get the gapps crashed message on each reboot. I think it's because the g3 ships with 4.4.2. The screen on the g3 is really nice. The battery life may be nice. Never really left it as my regular phone line longer than a day.
I like it. I just like the nexus 5 with purity ROM more. I switch back and forth every so often. About 90% of each day I'm on the nexus 5. Is it worth the cost for 10% use? Probably not. I have about 9 days to decide whether it's worth the cost.

I got my G3 on launch day. I used the stock launcher for a day, then installed Nova. Nova has never forgotten it was the default launcher. I still use the stock keyboard. I have never received a gapps error message. The screen is awesome, but I think 1080p would have been fine, with longer battery life to boot. The G3 battery lasts a whole day, but my Note 2 went even longer. However, I am very pleased with the G3 and plan to keep it. It will only get better as development expands.
I still have no idea how people get amazing battery life. I picked up the Verizon one and have great signal almost everywhere and best times I have gotten were 20 hours and 3 hours sot. How people are getting, 30 hours and 5 hours sot is beyond me.
It's a great phone, gets me through the day, who has is honestly all I need, however it's not much different than anything else out there.
I personally enjoy my Flex just as much. Just too big for work now and having to switch carries, however rest of the family is on T-Mobile.

I think most people were expecting adequate/sub-par battery life due to the amount of pixels being pushed through the same 801 processor when compared to S5 and M8. To me, the fact that it holds up to the competition (1080p) and even sometimes outperform them, is a win for LG and G3 consumers.

Note 3 Lollipop Update - Overheating !!!

Just got my Lollipop Update for my Note 3 today. I was stuck at 4.4.2 for a very long time, probably around six months or longer at 4.4.2. I was excited to see what the changes and improvements would be, only to be really pissed !!!
After about an hour or longer, my Note 3 finished the update, rebooted, then went through more of the updating process, and then I saw the new look, but noticed the screen brightness was very low. I saw the error message telling me that my device was overheating ... !!! What !!! My Note 3 has NEVER overheated, and I got my Note 3 in December of 2013.
I called Samsung Tech Support, did the usual Reboot, no help. Then the usual Safe Mode, but still no change. Finally did the Wipe Cache Partition, but still the issue was not fixed. Samsung Tech Support told me the only solution was to send in my Note 3 for repairs, or try a Factory Reset.
I went back to Settings and noticed something that caught my attention ..... I saw the little box with a green check mark, and decided to "Uncheck" that little box, and you know what happened ... ??? My Brightness went back to normal, very bright !!!
Why did the Samsung Tech Support miss that super-easy fix !!! At least to set the Brightness to bright again. BUT ..... I notice that my Note 3 is running much warmer than ever before. So, rather than risk serious damage from overheating, I turned off everything that I possibly could, which is a bummer, because now my Super-Cool High-tech Advanced Smartphone is not so cool anymore, with Brightness turned way down, Power-Saving turned on, Bluetooth off, WiFi off, all Haptic turned off, Download Booster turned off, Roaming off, almost everything OFF ... !!!
What's the use of having this Monster Mini-Super Computer if I can't even take advantage of the many cool features ... !!! Might as well just go back to using a Dumb-Phone .....
Oh well, I might just upgrade to the Note 4 anyways, since that might be the last of Samsung Smartphones with a removable battery and SD card reader ..... -- Jim .....
Overheating is caused by overcharging or excessive CPU load. You probably have an application that is running a background service on boot and it is stuck in a race condition because your upgrade caused a system change that it can not handle properly. To find out if this is true you can uninstall all your applications and see if the problem stops. Then you can install them one at a time and see which causes the overheating.
Frank
Thanks for your advice. Since I have so many apps, it would be a lengthly process, taking several months. I use many apps everyday, and since my Note 3 is my main computer, I might not use this strategy.
I may upgrade to the Note 4, and keep my Note 3, then send my Note 3 in for repair or replacement ......

Overall speed

Would you say that the Samsung Galaxy S8+ is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Samsung Galaxy S8+ exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Yes Its really fast
Yes it really fast and reliable, I am using and I advice others to use it. thanks
T-Mobile is fast in Orlando on the S8+.
In my opinion, the S8 is hindered by typical Samsung jitter, transitions and animations stutter all over the place, its really jarring, and its making me reconsider upgrading to the Note 8.
I have been using my Gs8+ for 3 months now and for the first 2 months I was very happy with performance but now I am experiencing hickups. The device gets warm to the touch, a reboot seems to fix the problems for a few hours. Now that I have also bought the new iPad Pro 10.5 it seems like a pile of **** like I'm using a 3 year old phone. I am thinking of resetting it and if it happens again i'l try a custom ROM. But I can still recommend this phone because I think it's partly because I expect to much as a poweruser.
Better than the rest!
Im coming over from a Pixel XL, and I think the phone itself may be a bit slower than the Pixel XL was. Although negligible, I can tell a difference. I also noticed that it was clunky of 5ghz wifi, but worked fine over 2.6ghz. Not sure whats up with that, but downloading apps and navigating in chrome was very slow over the 5ghz.

Coming from an S7 , It is probably that your battery is causing this. The more you discharge your phone to 0-10% battery the faster your battery is going to die. You will see that your phone heats up faster/performance slower and charge much slower than before. My S7 is great after 1 year of usage , what i do is turn of fastcharge (fastcharge charges faster at an increased temperature but the s8 is probably more effecient at it ), charge at 50% or try to.
It is way too laggy, period. Lags all over the place. I'm getting mine rooted.
Which rom is best nowadays?
I used to be a real poweruser years ago when CyanogenMod was the **** but I'm uninformed the past 5 years so I need some guidance
Smooth
If u are experiencing lag I highly recommend u go to bootup mode and clear the cache on your phone. Do it 3 times just to be safe. Especially after an update. Totally gets rid of the stuttering. Also disabling any app that's using the acessabilty service speeds up any Android also.
I just ran a geek-bench on my s8+ and I am rooted on Verizon. Single core score 1853 and multi is 6261
thanks, it really fast
I'm running Batman ROM and have a geekbench 4 single core score of 2027 and Multi 6751. The device is even faster with a custom ROM.

There is LTE+ there (as well in my area in NY) and it's blazing fast.
I honestly don't quite understand how this phone can get such positive reviews of its speed and UI experience.
I've used or at least tested A LOT of phones this year, and the S8+ has probably been the slowest, most janky experience I've had on a phone - even when compared to budget devices like the Moto G5 Plus.
App launching, multitasking, scrolling smoothness, and excess heat have all been inferior to every other current gen phone I've used.
IMO, it could only be measured a success when compared to multiple-years old phones.
S8+/SM-G955F slower then LG D855 (G3)
I totally agree with CConn882,
My S8+ take 3-4 seconds to launch camera. Multi tasking is horrible too. I'll try out to clear the cache several times, but I think that will not help a lot. Only the fact there's no other device with that great screen holds me to the Galaxy S8+. I would love to use AOSP with all Samsung specific apps. (camera, video re-sizing, etc.)
Greetings Newtoir
does it lag over time?
This phone is horribly slow. Multitasking is sh*t and app opening animations are slow and laggy. Some apps takes seconds to open. My phone is original and bought from carrier. No junk apps installed. And it kind of a su*ks to keep an eye of what is installed in such an expensive device. Cleaning cache and junk does nothing and it starts lagging again in few hours.

Tab S 8.4( SM-T700 ) is very slow

Hi guys,
I've been having this tablet since almost 5 years, at the beginning it was very fast. Fast forward a few years I noticed it has slowed down a lot ( very laggy when playing game like it was lack of ram), it's very hard to navigate on chrome on certain websites, it's so slow that I just stop using it sometimes. I was looking forward for the Tab S3 but it's out of my budget right now. I've tried to format the tablet twice with no success at all. I have developer mode enabled. I've tried to put the animation time down to 0.5x, it hasn't change anything at all. I was wondering if there's anything I could do before it joins the graveyard. I love Samsung products, I'm using a S9 right now and I have the galaxy gear S3 as well but this tablet is killing me.
Thanks
Have you tried a factory reset? deleting all cache? removing unneeded apps? check to see how much ram is being used directly after reboot to see if some apps that are loading can be removed and loaded only when needed?
There are a lot of things that can cause this. I'm running los Nougat on mine and it's perfectly fine, no issues, very responsive.
One thing I'd suggest is don't use Chrome. It uses a ton of memory. I'd suggest switching to los Jelly browser, it's very bare bones, as a browser on a tablet should be.
Hi,
I did try a factory reset along with deleting the caches, I have to take a look into my apps though, I have maybe 800-1gb of ram free when rebooting. I use Nova Launcher hence I pretty much have the same setup than on my cellphone. By slow I mean by example when playing 8 pool, when I hit the ball it move slowly exactly like the tablet would ram. I recl seeing that on my old PC back in the time when I was lack of ram, lol.
I have the same tablet as well, perhaps I shall try a factor reset one day.
It's hard to believe newer tablets will run faster, while the specs aren't that significantly higher. Not much more ram, processor not much faster.
It's almost as if they've deliberately slow down the device as it gets old (like that Apple scandal a while back), but I'm sure that's not the case here, as XDA guys would have dug out that dirt pretty quickly.
I shall try out a reset, and see if it's any better. My last resort will be to replace the battery, I've ebayed one a while back, but never gotten to use it yet.
I will try out a different browser too. I do agree Chrome has gotten quite fat lately. Looking at the Chrome task manager on the desktop reveals some scary amounts of memory used.
Removing the sd card helped me a lot
Removing SD? Wth? If that's the solution, it can go as well to the garbage.
Same here, I just getting this second hand Tablet 2 weeks ago. The Tab is in 99% perfect condition. All running good. It was running stock 6.0.1 MM. Then when i'm trying to swipe the home screen, it's lag and the lag is very noticeable. Then, I'm thinking "Why is this device very slow even they have a high spec?". This is the first time i use this tablet. The reason why i bought a second hand is because, i can't afford Galaxy Tab S2 or Tab S3 and i'm such a poor guy so the Tab S 8.4 is enough for me ?. But, i know how to tweak it better so it makes the CPU awake like before they come. That day i downgraded the Tab to Stock Kitkat 4.4.2 and i never forget to root it. After that, installing eRobot rom v.3.1 Stock Kitkat and also flashed Skyhigh Kernel which is gives you a powerful control of device CPU/GPU. After finishing the setup. and setting up the Skyhigh Kernel(Overclocking CPU/GPU) then reboot. After rebooting, my Tablet come to fresh again and it fresh like new ?. The CPU comes awake and performance always on. But, the powersaving can't really do anything and the battery may drain faster if you're a heavy user. Thank goodness there is still people developing the Kernel. I feel better now. I'm using this Tablet mostly for editing pictures, search information, and listening to music

I also bought it second hand but in my case it is to watch Netflix series on hd with that magnificent amoled and the truth is that I am very happy once I have changed the battery. I'm on android 6 official. The only solution for the tablet to run well in official marshmallow is using the disable package that makes it very usable, a real improvement but for my use the battery lasts 20% more without freezing anything from Samsung, this costs to understand for me but it is like this. For multimedia this tablet is spectacular and that is my use, especially thanks to the 16 10 format, it is ideal. The S4 I do not like, it's very big and very expensive. Long life tab S of 8.4 hahaha ???
