If someone is running stock KK rom, can they extract atciservice.apk and post it here? It should be in /system/app/ , I guess (the process is named com.mediatek.atci.service).
PS. Don't worry, it's just seems to be necessary for FM radio (I'm trying to get FM working on CM11), it's not "warez".

Sorry to state the obvious, but it seemed to have hit a wall on that thread, right?
The author of the thread has stated re-cooked roms can't get past the opening title screen..
So, any other way around? I'd like to have a liter stock rom for a while, at least until TF3D2/2.1 gets mature enough (and bug-free enough) and a working stable video-calling dialer is around. (I'm risking missed and lost calls here and I don't want that as it's my business phone... I've got to get those calls, if there are any... Sad)
Thanks for your help Söderström
The FM Radio apk distributed with samsung roms actually supports 3 regions. Europe, USA and Japan. For some reason in early European roms the Japan region was 'locked out', while the app still actually had all the support for it. With the latest releases it's locked out even with the Australian/Asian released roms. (Guessing because the Japanese SGS didn't include the FMRadio hardware). The support is still there in the software though.
Frequencies supported from these settings are:
USA 87.5MHz - 108MHz
Europe 87.5MHz - 108MHz
Japan 76MHz -108MHz
This post now only includes the latest Froyo and Gingerbread releases.
Old releases are mirrored here.
06/Oct/11 Update:
- JVT
11/Sep/11 Update:
- JVS modded.
02/Aug/11 Update:
- JVR modded. Probably the same as the other JV*'s though.
10/Jun/11 Update:
- JVP FMRadio.apk modded.
19/May/11 Update:
- JVO FMRadio.apk modded.
06/May/11 Update:
- JVH FMRadio.apk modded.
24/Apr/11 Update:
- Take 2, fixed CWM3 install.
22/Apr/11 Update:
- JVB FMRadio, fixed CWM3 compatible install.
30/Mar/11 Update:
Spent some quality time with the decompiled gingerbread FMRadio.apk and figured it out. JVK FMRadio.apk w/ Japan region below! Flash with CWM.
Also, included are 'untested' updated Froyo fmradios. I'm not planning on flashing back to Froyo to test these, but they shouldn't do any harm. Included are JS8 and JPJ FMradio.apks. They're different sizes. JPJ is about 200kb smaller than the JS8FMradio.apk. No idea what the difference is
29/Mar/11 Update:
The miui radio does not work with Gingerbread (JVK) and the stock one still does not include Japan.
19/Jan/11 Update:
MIUI mod's FMRadio.apk supports Japan region.
Initial release:
So grabbed the FMRadio.apk from the latest Eclair Australian release, deoxed and popped it on. Seems to be working fine.
Flash via CWM:
fmradio-gb-japan-XXX-CWM3s.zip - Gingerbread FMRadio.apk w/ Japan Region.
fmradio-gb-stock-XXX-CWM3s.zip - Gingerbread Stock FMRadio.apk
fmradio-froyo-japan-XXX-CWM.zip - Froyo FMRadio.apk w/ Japan Region
fmradio-froyo-stock-XXX-CWM.zip - Froyo Stock FMRadio.apk
Thank you very much for the APK. Unfortunately under Froyo this - also - does not give the "Japan" option...
Are you in possession of the FMRadio.apk from the latest Froyo Australian release? If not, do you know where I can find it?
With best regards,
ask_richy
Hi,
Please find FMRadio.apk from I9000DTJG4 (Australia) at the following download link.
This is the from the latest unbranded Australian Firmware which is Froyo 2.2.
http://www.multiupload.com/RJ71OKG0T0
Thanks a lot... will try that one out.
Btw: How do you extract stuff out of whole ROMs? Is there a thread or a tutorial on this?

I am trying to put something together... seems a bit hard to find info. I am still trying to learn myself.
How can I install this Radio-App?
I extracted the 7z and tried to open it with the app-manager. On the following screen i see two tabs (summary and details), and the option to uninstall or start the current version. Uninstalling ends with an error.
I am trying on a Rooted Samsung Galaxy S Froyo.
i have tried both versions on froyo ,but i can´t still get the japan region.
Can someone try to make a version for froyo 2.1.2?
Many thanks in Advance

I have decompiled the sargorn´s APK(from 2.1) using "android apktool",and found the strings about JAPAN. I think its possible to bypass the check, but i dont understand the Source. Maybe someone can give it a try?

Hi,
I tried to do so, and I deleted the old FM-Radio-App and the odex. When I start the ne FM-Radio, the only two choices are USA and Europe.
I'll "stay tuned" to this Thread
Found something that works!
So I spent a few hours wading through smali decompiled code lastnight without much success. Then I gave giving the cyanogen FMRadio.apk another compile and push, again without success.
The cyanogen FMRadio app is actually from the MIUI mod though. Googled for a pre-compiled i9000 version of miui... and what do you know. Japan is back in it's FMRadio app.
Flash via CWM:
miui-fmradio.zip is the working one with Japan support.
jpy-fmradio.zip is the stock JPY FMRadio if you want to go back.
Big thank you.
Works fine on my Device (Darkys Rom) I just replaced the fmradio.pk with this one.
Force closes when trying to change the region in Gingerbread.
Modded Gingerbread version uploaded. Found the actual issue now so new versions shouldn't cause any problems.
I am not able to update the ROM with the zip for gingerbread...I am using MAGLDR 1.13
The update.zip is wrong. I'll fix it when I get home in an hr or two.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
jvb FMRadio with a fixed cwm3 install. Should work.
I tried it..... it showed successfully installed update...but when I boot into MIUI Android its not there...
Just a thought, would there be a way to use Android as a radio scanner for a wider range of frequencies by patching FMRadio ?
Hi,
it's possible to flash only new/changed part of the rom?
Now im on ARHD 9.2.0 ( one x), and actual version is 9.3.1, but if i flash it i will loose all flashed mods ( battery icon, sense 4.5 camera, APM and EQS).
Thank you.

If you are coming from older version of a ROM it should not affect current mods. Just remember not to wipe data and everything should be ok

Yes it will.
You'll have to flash the mods again.

and what about https://www.otaupdatecenter.pro/ ?
Mods are written for a certian base, if you're moving up in base then the mods will have to be re-written unless otherwise stated

It is the same base 2.17. .
so mods should remain after flashing new rom?
but i always have to flash them after flashing new rom.
The issue is when flashing the new ROM it obviously overwrites the Mods so you'll still have to flash them after flashing the ROM. You won't have to wipe data, though
That's the reason I switched to stock again . I need the Rom which doesnt need full wipe when ever base change . Like how HTC sends OTA

I know, so i flash new version of rom, without wipe, then mods, but after flashing mods, their settings are the same as before on old rom

Some roms like viperX have OTA. and it's like stock OTA update, only few MB and not whole rom.
A "mod" is basically a modified framework-file that replaces the original framework-file when flashed. For instance a battery% mod is part of the file systemUI.apk . As you cannot install only parts of that file, the whole file is replaced by the mod. The other way round of course, any new rom will again flash the original version of that file, thus overwriting and deleting the mod.
That is good ofc when the new rom NEEDS another systemui.apk, because the old, modded one would bring trouble. But if you stay on the same base it means additional work.
That is unavoidable unfortunately, at least in general (there are some theming mods that avoid that, but that would work only when the only modded files are graphics, not when code is involved).
I hope that explains the problem and it's reasons a bit.

Hello guys. in this thread Mini says:" Only way to fix Wi-Fi for stock is to merge stock source into my current kernel and I really don't want to do that.. so unfortunately users will have to stay on stock kernel for stock roms."
link to her post and thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67372709&postcount=104
anyone can do it? I (I'm sure many others as well) are ready to donate.
I tried to replace some file in the "Module" folder, as well as their entire folder, but without success.
Why do you even need to do that? Just get the Wi-Fi module from a M8 ROM and replace it with yours, you're done. Don't want to do this all, flash the zip in attachment, it will do the work.

I'd love to see one. But we're short of devs especially from countries which need VoLTE.
And if you were following the other topic, exploring me as a potential developer to take over, I'm sorry to inform that there's no VoLTE here either...

You act as if we are running a custom radio image on custom ROMs... we aren't.
In general, the radio image is, in 99% of all devices out there, always a unmodified one taken from the stock ROM.
In fact, most custom ROMs don't even touch / flash / modify the radio image in any way, LineageOS for example doesn't even bundle the radio image in the ZIP file, as it assumes your phone already has a working radio image installed (coming from a stock ROM).
So no, the radio image is not the issue at hand.
Baseband is a totally different thing.. and people are already messing their phones because of it by flashing things that is not supposed to be flashing. If VoLTE is not meant to be because they're two different models with two different network.. just let it be for now.
