I know noob mistake but it is mood night and want thinking that tablets aren't capable for phone's system wise. I realize that now and I hope someone can help me soon. I haven't been connected to Wi-Fi in weeks so my data is not backed up to Google and touchwiz does not work properly if I back it up do can someone help me please. I don't have time to browse the internet for hours searching for this. Thank you ahead of time.

I got the update pushed to my phone yesterday and ever since there has been nothing but problems! First, the battery drains at a ridiculous rate. I unplugged it at 10:30 am and by 3:00 pm I was down to 60% without anything going on except 7 text messages. I can usually go 24 between charges. Second, the overall speed of the phone has slowed to a crawl. Web pages take forever to load, the app marked just hangs on the loading screen, and apps even take minuets just to open. Third, my phone randomly loses data connection. I cannot load any apps that require a data connection even when the wifi and 3G logo are showing with full bars. I get an error massage that says "connection failed" or "retry." it's so bad that when trying to sync notes or email my phone has the scroll wheel of death and freezes on that page. I've had the phone since thanksgiving and haven't done anything to it, its completely stock, I don't even know how to jailbreak it! I haven't had any issues whatsoever before I updated and now my phone is pretty much unusable. Is anyone else experiencing this? I need there to be an update to fix this update or for someone to tell me how to downgrade back to 2.3.4
You should try rooting and running an custom rom or kernel. I've received the ota as well but i immediately rooted afterwards. Im running the stock rom but using a custom, overclockable kernel, and its quick! Rooting is VERY easy on this particular phone & the instructions can be found here in the android development section of this phone model. Or you could simply just take the phone back and ***** to sprint about it and maybe they'll issue you a new unit.
I prefer not going to sprint at all simply because the only store with a repair center here where i live i worked at and it was terrible, but I need help. I want to know the simplest way to root and revert back to 100% out of the box stock if possible... If not i'll suck it up and go to the store

Do I need to root because this just shows him unrooting the phone?
You have been such a blessing! Thanks so much for being patient and dealing with my ignorance...
lol don't know yet.. but you are definitely more of a professional than I am so I am taking your word for it
I appreciate it. If I do encounter any problems I will let you know but so far so good. It's pretty easy to follow
It worked! Thanks again
Thanks! Being that I'm a pro now I will look into the whole rooting and flashing rooms. I even got the lingo down lol
Question though... Do I flash roms the same way as in the video or is there something different I have to do?
Hi all! My work uses a network setup with LEAP. I don't know a ton about this, but I did previously have my old phone (optimus s) setup with "WIFI advanced config editor" and it connected no problem. I upgraded to the Optimus G (world of difference!) and I am now having trouble getting connected. My phone see's the network, but won't connect.
I have read online a bit about wifiACE not working with ICS... and that 4.2 broke LEAP networks, but it looked like 4.1.2 (I took the OTA and am on 4.1.2) should still work. wifiACE does act funky... the setting appear unsaved in wifiACE until after I turn WIF off and back on... then they look correct... I have even checked the wpa_supplicant.conf to see that the settings had been saved (I am rooted).
Anyway long story short... does anyone have experience with this on this phone? I can see the network, just can't connect. I am not sure if it is something with the Optimus G, with 4.1.2 software, or if my configuration is not correct (I have set it up exactly like my optimus s was... I don't see why it would need to be different).
As always any and all help is appreciated!
Thanks!
Just checking back... no one has any input on this? I've done a bit of reading at different sites all over. Seems like a lot of people are having issues, but there are not a lot of answers.
I understand that this effects a very small number of people, so no one on here (or at least no one looking at this) may have experience with this. I am trying to work my way through it, but just don't have a good idea where to start.
I did read that some galaxy s3 users were able to replace wpa_supplicant with one from before the Jelly Bean update, and that fixed it for them... I have already done the OTA, but I wonder if I was able to extract it from a stock ICS ROM, if that might fix the problem...
Not that this will be much help to you. I'm able to connect to my work leap with nothing special at all. Just put in my username and password. It uses peap, then all I need is my identity and password.

Happy Holidays to Everyone,
A few years ago I sent someone a phone with a custom rom, and the sprint guys thought they could not activate it, however It technically should be able to be activated even with a custom rom.
I just wanted everyone's experiences.
Thanks and be safe this Holiday

It can be done. But as with all support, you have to know what they're talking about and be able to do what they want you to do, including changing values hidden in menus which may not exist on a non-stock ROM and things like updating a PRL. When I had cable internet trouble I always told them I rebooted the modem and restarted Windows while never touching the modem and kept messing around in CentOS.
They have no standing to help you with any custom software.
I have the Note 8.0 N5110. It is running the ROM found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2450005 . It is a pre-rooted version of 4.2.2. I tried connecting my Note to the Netgear PTV3000, but my tablet disconnects from the device seconds after it connects. I know that there is some restriction implemented by Samsung to prevent screen mirroring on modified devices, but how can I work around it? I have read threads in which people accomplished this feat, but the abilities used to achieve the workaround in these instances are far beyond my own. Any help would be much appreciated.

I found that too much of an issue with custom ROM, but was able to manage to get it operational. Though it was tricky and long since forgot which file to mess with. You need to find the app that does mirroring and side load. You will need to adjust permissions and all before installing.
I think I used Ti backup to remove it after backing it up.
I found going back to stock ROM with Xposed framework being the less buggy, and does just about everything just as good if not better than customized ROM. Plus support is much easier to deal with. The only draw back is I cannot overclock and undervolt with stock kernel. But, I still get the same battery time and not that noticeable difference in speeds. I get at least 8 hours with daily activity and about 1 to 2 percent drain per 2 hours with wifi active and sync enabled while on battery. Milage will differ on how many active apps you have and the frequent google play store app updates.
First I would like to thank everyone on this forum. Being a Noob to rooting I have learned so much here.
I will be picking up my new Galaxy S5 tomorrow and I want to keep my GNEX for a music player. I believe I will still be able to connect it to wifi and load it with music via USB. Any suggestions as to how I should configure it before I lose service?
I have Vanir ROM running 4.2.2 with DirtyV kernel.
You don't have to do anything. It doesn't matter if you have service on it or not. It will still work on Wi-Fi

yea I have been off of Verizon service for long time now(almost a year)
what I do is Google on airplane mode. then you can just turn on wifi(bluetooth.and wifi are able to be toggled on/off without affecting airplane mode)
I get actually good battery life on this thing that way lmao!
but yea, you can always change your setup later by just using wifi to download your Roms/kernels.
not having service won't affect ability to install roms.
but make sure you do toggle airplane mode on lol. cuz without service(i don't even have sim in anymore) it will be constantly trying to connect to a tower to get a signal, and will horribly drain your battery very fast.
(I've also removed BIP.apk and the stock messaging apk since they always show as running apps and I don't need them anymore I figured just remove them to free that ram up. you will have to remove them every time you flash a Rom though remember, if you decide to go this route as well)
Someone made a flashable zip over at Rootz that disables everything that makes your device a cellular device.
The OP is for Jelly Bean, but comment #50 made one for Kit Kat.
I know it's taboo to link over there, but I don't see anything in the forum rules:
