Rumor: Samsung Galaxy S III, Note II Will Receive Android 5.0
March 18, 2013 David Beren 3 Comments
Grab your cups full of grains of salt as a new SamMobile rumor says Android 5.0 will come to the Galaxy S III and Note II. First things first, we need to know that Android 5.0 exists and while we believe it does in the form of Key Lime Pie, it’s hard to swallow any unverified rumors at this point.
That said, the SamMobile source says Android 4.2.2 will also come to the Galaxy S II and Original note, carrier dependent of course. As for Android 5.0, only five devices are said to be on the “to do” list for the update, which is expected to be announced at Google I/O in May.
This is a pretty early list and I’m encouraging some skepticism given that Android 5.0 isn’t a known entity yet. Still, the “full” list of devices said to be on Samsung’s radar for the update follows below, subject to change of course:
To get Android 5.0.
GT-I9300 – Galaxy S III
GT-I9305 – Galaxy S III LTE
GT-I9500 – Galaxy S 4
GT-I9505 – Galaxy S 4 LTE
GT-N5100 – Galaxy Note 8.0
GT-N5105 – Galaxy Note 8.0 LTE
GT-N5110 – Galaxy Note 8.0 Wi-Fi
GT-N7100 – Galaxy Note II
GT-N7105 – Galaxy Note II LTE
GT-N8000 – Galaxy Note 10.1
GT-N8005 – Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE
GT-N8010 – Galaxy Note 10.1 Wi-Fi

with the upcoming release of the galaxy note III.. I don't see the carriers bringing 5.0 to our phones. Would be great if this does end up being true though.

First off. A Nexus phone always gets the new OS first. The Nexus 5 will get it first and there is no release date for it or any info yet. The Note 3 will most likely be out before that so it will ship with 4.2 like the GS4. The note 2 might see 5.0 next fall.
CARBON NIGHTLY | KROZ HUE THEME | CRACK FLASHER
I heard they won't officially get Android 46.

Whenever I remove the Spen and the popup note comes out, it defaults to the largest pen thickness everytime. How do I adjust this? (Also, see attached picture)

Yes but I have to change it everytime I take the Spen out. I can't just take the pen out and write notes;I have to take the pen out, adjust the size and then write the notes.

Droid-Life gave a great run-down of this:
"If you are confused by the name “razor” since you have also seen us refer to the new Nexus 7 as “flo,” I’ll try to explain. Each Nexus device is essentially given two names: a device name and a product name. Take for example the Galaxy Nexus LTE. You’ll see it often referred to as “toro” which is the device name, but in the software updates for it, it is referred to as “mysid” aka the product name. So for the new Nexus 7, we have a product name of “razor” and a device name of “flo.” Product names are typically listed with factory images since they are tied to the software of the device."
thanks!
we have factory images for nexus 7 fhd - this is great
Flo is short for Flounder I guess since all are based off types of fish.
I think everyone settled on Nexus 7 HD.
Lots of sites call it FHD, which is inaccurate seeing how that describes a specific resolution that is not what the new Nexus 7 uses.
I typically call it the N7HD. I have a huge thread on this over in General.

Already posted, it will be good to searched before to post
If you need more info read this post from @TheManii (Wiki Admin / Recognized Contributor)
I didnt bother reading the middle pages, but:
Wifi Model:
Marketing name: Nexus 7
Play market url: Nexus 7 (2013)
Name in help pages: Nexus 7 (2013)
Rom branch name: Razor
Device name: Flo
Board name: Flo
Motherboard model number: ME371K
Device model number: K008
LTE Model differences:
Marketing name: Nexus 7
Play market url: unknown
name in help pages: Nexus 7 (2013) LTE
Rom branch name: Unknown
Device name: Deb
Board Name: unknown
Motherboard model number: ME371KL
Device model number: unknown
These will be revealed when the 2013 N7 LTE is actually released
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Goog refers to it as the Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 7 (2013) LTE in their help pages.
For the purposes of the xda wiki pages, I refer to them in the same manner.
Calling it Nexus razor is definitely "wrong" as noone refers to the N4 as the nexus occam.
For the GN, the rom branch name is only brought up when it's relevent: usually when otas are involved.
Calling it flo would be "correct" in the context of roms though, as roms usually have the device name in their filenames to refer to what device it's for.
Like how grouper/tilapia roms shouldn't be assumed to be compatible unless the author states so, deb and flo roms shouldn't either.
You can call it whatever the hell you want as noone's going to stop you, as long as it's unambiguous.
It doesnt necessarily mean that you're using the "correct" name though.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some background info:
Some devices have multiple rom branches for a device:
Galaxy Nexus GSM:
rom branch name:
Takju: models bought via play in the us
Yakju: models bought everywhere else
YakjuXX: models supported by samsung directly and not google
All GN's have the same board name, but different device names:
Board name: tuna
device name:
GSM GN: maguro
vzw GN: toro
spr GN: toroplus
Some devices have similar roms, but not identical ones:
Nexus 7 wifi:
device name: grouper
rom branch name: nakasi
nexus 7 3g
device name: tilapia
rom branch name: nakasig

I think that is clearly explicit
Flo is the device specific codename name (N7 2013 WiFi). Razor is the codename for the board.

Hi guys, Samsung are rolling out Android 4.4.4 to their mobile devices. But I have not seen any reports of that update for our Tab S or even the Tab Pro. Any news on this?
And what specific changes did Samsung add to Touch-wiz in this update (to the devices it's been released on).
Thanks
A new Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is hitting the phone to solve problems and also to prepare it for the upcoming Voice over LTE technology.
The Android Kitkat updates have been hitting the phones of major carriers but the last several either caused new bugs or didn’t solve all of them, prompting the 4.4.4.
“One of the devices that’s in the midst of an Android 4.4.4 KitKat update push is the Samsung Galaxy S5. Just about a week ago, the Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update hit the Verizon Galaxy S5. The update was a bit of a surprise given how slow Verizon typically is to Android updates. The update’s change log was never publicized though there’s chatter about it fixing a Bluetooth issue. Today though, Verizon is rolling out a bunch larger Android 4.4.4 KitKat build,” according to Gotta Be Mobile.
The new update includes fixing the problem of an incorrect number of unread emails on the notification screen, and audio of the Bluetooth headset, and a camera shutters sound issue.
More tracking features have also been added to the S-Health, including Weight, Sleep, Stress, and Coach.
The update also includes tech that prepares the device for the upcoming VoLTE technology, which enables calls to sound better and clearer while having users talk on the phone while being able to use the Internet at the same time.
While Verizon’s S5 is the first model to get the 4.4.4., the other models are expected to receive it soon.
Meanwhile, some variants of the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Tab 3 and Galaxy Tab 4 have been getting the Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware recently.
The latest Google Android build is Android 4.4.4 KitKat, but that is only coming out for the very latest Samsung devices such as the Galaxy Alpha and the Galaxy Note 4–and the Galaxy S5–at present.
In the United States, Sprint are working on releasing the Android 4.4.4 KitKat for the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S5, while T-Mobile could be rolling out the update for the Galaxy S4.
Some United Kingdom carriers and Optus in Australia could also be making the update available for the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 LTE-A.
Samsung could eventually release the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update to its other phones, but at present, Samsung users will have to stick with a slightly older Android build.

You're not even serious LOL. the Tab S had only been out 3 months. Samsung has been known to update their devices up to 2 years out from release.

True that but after 12 months passes for a device I wouldn't hold my breath....

This is their flagship device. I'm very confident we'll see the L Preview and their next iteration of the "L", after that.

Agreed. Looking forward to it.
That was a nice joke
My guess also is that Samsung will skip directly to L for the Tab S. They don't do frequent updates, that's true. So why would they bother with a relatively insignificant interim update?
Since Note 7 already dead,so note 4 deserves the Nougat.
I think Samsung should do that, except if Samsung want to kill note series.
I hope getting it officially from Samsung or unofficially from devs.
If there's a ROM already available let me know.

I was terribly disappointed by the debacle of the Galaxy note 7 as I was due for an upgrade this October and there is no other phone I would even consider (and the Note 5 is unacceptable with its lack of microSD card support). Thankfully, Samsung has already announced they will release a Note 8 next year but I doubt we will see any further attempt to get the Note 7 back on the market., so it will be a long wait for the next truly big thing from Samsung. They announced previously that the Note 4 had reached the end of its support lifespan but I do hope to see an exception made due to the debacle that was the Note 7. Perhaps some of the Grace UX from the Note 7 will find its way to our Note 4s along with Nougat. Here's hoping.
The Note 4 is already officially at EOL for Samsung. They have moved on, though I'm 100% sure we will see Nougat unofficially from the awesome developers here on the XDA forums! They have already tested and got Nougat to work on the Verizon Note 4. So its only time that us Sprint users will get to use beautiful nougat!
There probably won't be a Nougat update from Samsung, but there is a Nougat AOSP ROM in the works!
