Rooting question - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

I finally had to replace my note 10.1 SM-P600 and it has been a while since I rooted. The new one will be here tomorrow. My question is this. Do I need to run the auto root or can I just odin twrp and then flash a custom rooted rom?

[Q] CWM/TWRP impossible to install after upgrade to 4.2.2

Hello everyone,
My brand new n5100 came with 4.1.2 out of the box, but upgraded to 4.2.2 OTA immediately (XXCMI1).
Right after that, I tried to install either CWM or TWRP through Odin3, with no success. It says PASS, but when I boot in recovery (home+vol.up+power), all that I have is stock recovery.
Does anyone know what's going on? Any ideas on how to do it?
My final objective is to root the device. Framaroot exploits are no working anymore. Should I proceed installing a custom kernel? I am afraid of having a locked bootloader or so, and bricking my new toy due to that.
Thank you in advance!

Use CF Autoroot to root the device. Then install which ever recovery you want.

[Q] Flashed Stock 4.4.2. How to Root?

Hello All,
I recently flashed KitKat 4.4.2 successfully but now I need to re-root. I see dodgy posts about rooting certain ways. Can someone please point me to the right direction in the easiest and safest way to root on KitKat? Thanks!

You can use CF Auto Root to re-root the phone. The only problem is this method will trip the Knox warranty void counter which can't be reset at this time. You flash it through odin and after it roots, you need to disable Knox. To do that, download (or update) SuperSU and when you run it for the first time, it will give you an option to disable Knox for the root to fully work. Finally, you can install the custom recovery. While this is optional, this is strongly recommended. You can use CWM or TWRP by downloading from either ROM Manager or Goo Manager depending on what recovery you want. After doing that, you should have a fully working root
Download CF Auto Root: http://download.chainfire.eu/233/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-d2spr-d2spr-sphl710.zip
You can also flash the SuperSU zip after using Odin to flash a custom recovery (I recommend philz)

[Q] How Do I RE-Root T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4

My T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 (SGH-M919) was rooted and I have been running CyanogenMod for years.. Right now on Lolipop 5.0.2
Months ago I had to do a restore and I think it was then that I lost root.
I want to root the phone again, but I am using the CWM Recovery v6.0.5.0. I know how to root the factory version of my phone but I dunno how to do it to my CWM/CyanogenMod phone.
Can someone offer me advice on how to re-root this device now that it is not in a factory configuration?
Appreciate it.

Flash latest supersu zip with twrp
Thanks. Of course that worked. I used CWM vice TWRP. Really appreciate it. I have another question about switching from CWM to TWRP. Will ask in a new thread.

Can I root the note 10.1 2014 on 5.1.1 LMY47X.P600UESDPL1

HI, I got my son a wifi P600 note 2014 for his birthday a while ago, and it came with kitkat on it, so i was able to update it, install twrp, and root it. Now i bought another one for my girlfriends son, but his came with 5.1.1 LMY47X.P600UESDPL1 already on it. I cant find any information on whether or not i can install twrp, and then do the cfauto-root just like i did on the other one. Has anyone out there done this yet, or is it pretty safe to try it and i can fix a brick with Odin? I've been a Motorola and HTC guy, don't have the whole Samsung thing down yet.
Thanks, Mark
If CF has LP on autoroot website its good.
That exact version number of 5.1.1 is not on the autoroot website. But I believe the update on the tablet was just some security updates, so I thought mAybe auto root would still work. But if it don't work will it just fail or will it brick it. Can I use Odin and a stock fw file to at least get back to stock from a brick?
Just reread what you said, and now I'm thinking your saying that as long as Cf-autoroot page has a 5.1.1 lp version for the p600 it will work on any 5.1.1 update of the p600?
Why not just do it the old fashioned way? Flash twrp using odin and then directly boot into twrp and flash the latest supersu binary from the chainfire's website. I just did this with PL1 firmware and everything is running fine. Installed busybox, fdroid and adaway eveything working just fine with root permissions
Just so everyone knows it did work rooting with cf-auto-root , then I was also able to flash twrp with Odin. Everything is working great.
Hey I have the same tablet and version but new to this topic and don't know how to root my tablet. I'm searching for a guide for my device. Do you have some tips? Or maybe will explain how you did it?
