[Q] Help with partitioning 32Gb sd card - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK, so I've rooted my Galaxy S4 Mini GT-i9195.
Now, I'm trying to partition my 32Gb SD card, which I've done using Mini Partition Tool, creating the 1st partition of around 27Gb as Primary and Fat32. The 2nd partition I've tried as around 4Gb, Primary again, and I've tried Ext2, Ext3, Ext4, NTFS and also Fat32.
No matter what I try, Link2SD (Plus) won't recognise the 2nd partition, saying "Mount script cannot be created, Mount: Invalid argument".
I've also tried repartitioning using Aparted, with no luck.
Please help, It's getting really frustrating!
Thanks in advance guys.

cant format ext partition

hi
i cant format my ext 3 partition from clockworkmod recovery. when ever i try it says
"error mounting ext partition skipping format" someone got any ideas
Try to repartiton/format your SD card, using partiton managers (GParted worked best for me).
im having a hard time upgrading from ext3 to ex4....
everytime i try to do something after upgrading from ext4 it tell me it cant mount the sd-ext partition
but everything works fine in ext3, im using gparted btw

[Q] How to make ext4? Im stuck here...

Hello.
I'm having a big problem with ext4 fromatting partion.
I have using GParted program (bootable cd), and everything was great, program created 2,79 GB FAT32, and 1 GB ext4, like in the video tutorial on your site http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084 (step five).
And I noticed, on the end of the video, when the guy is checking on htc desire space (about 2:40 min on youtube) he had 13,92 GB on FAT32 of 14,92 GB. But I have full 3,92 GB FAT32, which is the same sioze a micro sd. I dont know where I am doing wrong?
Then, I tried ROM manager, but after restart, I have blue android and triangle with !...and says that on disk e: something goes wrong ABORTED!
Do you have some idea, what can I do?
Thank you very much.
You did something wrong with gParted, delete all partitions, make one FAT32 partition and format the SD.
Then try making EXT partition in recovery, if you know how to you should change recovery to the 1 in my signature, it works flawlessly.
Nope, I formated fat32 and ext4, and when I connect htc desire to pc, and put Insertcoin.zip, its blank sd card. And then I see notification on htc, that is my sd card blank, and unsupported filesystem...
I will try and third way, that ext4recvery...
or you can try MiniTool Partition (@k3lcior yes I remember what you said).
Note: Some say that you can get errors when partitioning with windows, but I've never had any problems. Up to you.
Gparted is an awesome tool to use ??? I don't see what your doing wrong ...
Format card - New Partition - Fat 32- 2.79 gb -
Then new partition - create Ext 4 at the end 1gb....

Partitioning SD Card

Hi, I have already partitioned my 8gb SD card. I made 1 FAT32 Partition with 1.3gb of unused space, while i used the left memory to make a EXT4 partition with around 6.5gb.... My question is, why the second partition is invisible in windows, and where should i put my music and stuff...... Also, Link2SD says that it can't mount the script because of an invalid argument... Please help me fix this..... I'm using HenseMod6 by the way
Around 1-2 GB of Ext partition is enough. Ext* partitions are linux filesystems and cannot be read by windows. Your music and photos should go on the fat partition.
Your rom may not support ext4, try reformatting it to ext3
Thanks, mate. My ClockworkMod Recovery helped mi fix it..

Link2SD & Partitioning Help

Hey everyone. I'm going nuts trying to figure out how to use Link2SD. I partitioned my 32G SD card using Mini Partition Tool. I made a 1 gig partition. I've tried FAT32 and EXT2. After partitioning, i rebooted and tried Link2SD. I keep getting the error "Mount script cannot be created. [1] Segmentation fault mount ..."
Is there any solution for the xperia play? I manually moved my apps but still ran out of space keeping system tools like Titanium Backup on the internal. Maybe I should make them System Apps?
I use the following on mine setup:
64gb Card (Fat32 - Primary)
5GB for EXT4 partition (Make sure when you partition it to set it as primary.)
300mb Swap Partition
I had an issue with Link2SD too ad it was because I was not setting the EXT partition as primary, oncei formatted it again as primary Link2SD had not issue with it. Try that.

Hey thanks for the reply. Just tried what you said. My FAT32, ext4, and Swap are all Primary and sill no go. I get the same error (segmentation fault mount -t ext4...). When Link2SD opens I've tried selecting all the options for the parition type too and none of them work.
Anything else I can try? Does the order of the partitions make any difference? Right now I am Primary, ext4, Swap.

Ah.... okay, I should have clarified this, only the fat32 and EXT partition are set to Primary. Swap Partition is set to logical, setting all three to primary causes issues.
Reformat only the swap and format to logical. Then in Link2SD force it to reinstall the scripting and see if that fixes it.

Okay then. New problem. Now Link2SD says "No SD card present" and android doesn't mount it either.
This is killing me slowly.
I'll try to reformat the whole card via a reader...
Didnt work. SD card still not recognized.

OK. If your willing, lets start fresh. I am guessing you have your SDcard files backed up. Using Minitool partition delete all partitions and format as FAT32. Then create another partition of your size and format it as EXT (I prefer 4, EXT4) and set it to EXT(2,3,4,etc) and Primary. Then just for kicks, do not make a swap partition. I read that its not necessary, however I always do it..... well necessary only if you use a swap manager. So after the fat32 and ext partitions are made and minitool has created them. Take out the card, put it back into your pc and see if windows sees the fat32 partition. If good place it back into your phone and see if it upon bootup sees your sdcard.
Just in case as a reference here is the tutorial from the developer of Link2SD on how to set it up.

PC sees the FAT32. Phone sees the card now. Link2SD shows the partition but cant mount it and create the script for it. Also tried as ext2. Thanks for your help. I am going to try to update the ROM.
After updating the ROM to 2.4.0 and waiting 10 mins and rebooting as usual. was able to successfully link the partition! Thanks for your help!
No problem. Glad you got it working.

Got all my apps installed! Woot! Also, something must have been messed up with my previous flash.. I wasn't able to restore apps the newer way from titanium backup. I had to do it the old way one by one.
phone is going to make a great gaming alternative to my SGSII.
