EDIT: I found out how to fix it.. I needed to set Governor to Lionheart mode with Skydragon G3 rom and D851 rin 1.8.5 Kernel. Now when loading stuff, it goes up to 2.7ghz same with ANTUTU.
Browsing using Chrome stutters when loading CNN mobile website. It takes 10 secs for the website to finish loading then I can scroll without stutter. Is that normal? Also tested with UC browser, same problem.
I downloaded Cool tool system stats. I was monitoring the clock speed. Loading website is around 1.5-1.7ghz
Using Antutu benchmark, i'm getting 1.5ghz with 95% cpu usage. Even my Nexus 4 is faster than this phone.
Tested many ROMs.. all the same result. Currently using Skydragon G3 with D851 rin 1.8.5 kitkat kernel overclock CPU to 2.7ghz with thermal mod (OC one)
Getting 30k with Antutu. Sometime I get 39k. Seems like thermal mod doesn't help? When the phone is cool, I get higher score.

Trying to find out to anyone using or not using MIUI which kernel is the best for the G2, i am also trying to find out what SetCPU profiles work best with that kernel from personal experience.
Curious myself.
*bump*
I'm on the latest Pershoot and battery and performance is some much better than stock kernel. In fact, battery life is possibly better than Sense! I OC'd to 825-1497 MHz screen on and 245-368 with the screen off. I get the occasional (once in the few days I've been running the ROM) refusal to wake up, but I heard that's a bug in CM (which MIUI is based off) to do with OCing + screen on/off animations. I did, however, get tons of freezes and reboots when my maximum frequency was set at 1516MHz, which seems to be above the threshold my phone can take.
Anyway, that's my experiences, YMMV!
Hope I helped

I have been in MIUI_1.07.15_OsiMood v1.0 (just flashing to 1.2)
atleast in 1.0 FM-radio on desire z didn't work whit Streamline5 and Pershoot 2.6.35.13 kernels. on default kernel it works.
i dont think i'm going to try out those kernels in 1.2... any kernel suggestions whit smartass/conservative governors and hopefully working FM-Radio?
Which version of MIUI are your running?
I'm currently running Carpes' Miui Version, "Light Gets Lighter"
The kernel I use is Eugenes' Streamline5 Kernel which can be found here Streamline5
He has a MIUI version but for some reason doesn't run well so just download the Original.
Here is the download link if you have trouble finding it > kernel download <
As for Setcpu settings
Max/Min
Main:
1000/800, smartass
Profiles:
Screen Off: 384/245, smartass
I only find the need for a screen off profile because I like my phone kept on low hz and it's pretty much the same as battery charging profiles if you have the same hz
Its also recommended not to underclock lower then 245 as it will cause a lock up or freeze being unable to wake up due to slow processing speed
1 Day, 13 Min, 56 Seconds = 21% Battery Left
Total about 1 hour browsing internet, maybe 20min total of youtube videos and moderate texting

I was coming in to say just about the same thing. Funny because I'm usung the exact same SetCPU settings. Streamline5 is the absolute best way to go.

Happy to hear and yes, Streamline5 is awesome!
If Both our reviews still don't help then maybe this will. Another great thing about Streamline5 is that it will still run smooth even if you leave it clocked at just 800 alone and maybe squeeze a little more juice out .
Reason I scale it to 1000 is I like the little speed boost it gives me
Yes, got Tiamat kernel runing in my MIUI, and looks like everything is working fine, even FM-radio...
has all the necessary governors, and goes up to 2ghz

I can't get past the bootanimation after flashing streamline5 on CarpeNoctem"s miui. any help would be appreciated.
also, can I manually change the min mhz up to 245?
I am currently using MIUI 1.7.29 Osimood with the Tiamat 1.04 kernel, and I am wondering what the best kernel is for battery life. I am also using the V6 supercharger ram script. I am running my CPU at 960mHz at the moment, using the smartass governer. I also undervolted using vipermod, 960MHz at 950mV.
My choice consists of the latest Pershoot, UmaroKernel 1.06 or Tiamat 1.04
What differences would I see between those kernels, are they noticeable for a regular user?
Sorry man, but wehre do you find the vipermod for desire z? http://vipermod.tiamat-dev.com/faq.php it's not compatibile with desire z/g2....
Uh...what's wrong with the kernel it comes with? Can OC to 1.5GHz stock ya know. Battery life is great with it too. People always want to flash something weather it be a radio or a kernel.

damn straight,
1) pershoot is a sense kernel? (i am proabably wrong but i have never tried this kernel)
2) umaro kernel i found had issues with wifi, high underclock freq (leading to poorer battery life), but fun if you have the time to tweak voltages and fast!
3) tiamat kernel i found had issues with sleep of death/random reboots on wakeup couldnt test it past that. (setcpu was set to screen off was: conservative 125min -345 max and would still crash)
if you are up for another kernel, i am now using this kernel (streamline5)
no voltage tweaking (pretweaked) but it has good batt, speedy and stable cant ask for much

Pershoot is actually for non-sense roms. The downfall people have with it is lack of governors. Some don't mind, some want variety. I've had great experiences with Pershoot's kernel and it's the baseline that all others are compared to (not to mention the foundation of almost ALL G2/DZ kernels).
Umaro's just needs to have voltage tweaks done manually but on the plus side - keeping the voltages normal (not UV) allows some people to reach higher OC speeds. It keeps the processor from bottoming out due to insufficient voltage which can easily happen when you UV. The main issue is with the Greased lightening governor - it's new and still a bit buggy.
Tiamat 1.0.4 is outstanding. I can sit all day at 2+ GHz (not literally, see: Chernobyl). I personally have an issue with the interactive governor but other than that it's my favorite kernel (Umaro may take that soon, once greased lightening is perfected).
Basically you just need to try out a few and see which you like. There is no 'best'. Most kernels will work with any ROM (Sense being the only exception).
Bumping a thread that is relevant to my interests.
It's about time for me to jump ship from an outdated CM ROM and try something new like a MIUI ROM.
With that said, I'd like to read more opinions & experiences from people using the various Kernels AND how the latest radio (the one released today) is working for them. I'm just trying to get the optimal experience here
Speaking of MIUI would anyone mind telling me some differences between OsiMood's ROM compared to the official MIUI-US ROM (or even DarkSpadez ROM)?
Thanks a ton guys!
I downloaded the official rom . . .then ignored it downloaded osimood and iv been using it since. Osimood is a lighter rom, which is always a good thing, unwanted languages etc are removed for a smaller faster rom. Also he preinstalls tweaks like an adblocker and extended settings mod.
Kernal wise iv been looking for the same info as you but couldn't find it. So I eneded up trying them all:
- Eugenes streamline5 is a nice kernal, preundervolted. Only probly is its not being updated so will become redundant.
-Tiamats kernal allows over clock to 2ghz and seems to support higher overclocks stably where other kernals can't. Except battery life has decreased with recent kernals
-Umarokernal this is the kernal iv come back to twice and am still on. It allows overclock to 1.9ghz and is kept updated by umaro. Performance per frequency seems as good if not better than most and osimoods miui runs smooth with this kernal on 800ghz with scarey governer (which saves battery) Another plus for me with this kernal is the scarey governer which for me definatly provides the best performance per battery ratio.
I'm currently running MIUI 1.8.5 with Eugene-Streamline 5 Kernel with the latest radio update Vision_Radio_12.57.60.25_26.10.04.12.
SetCPU with Governor ondemand provides me with better usage, power and responsive time then Smartass or Interactive.
OC to 1.2ghz
Battery life, about 30hrs with the regular 1350mah.

i just got 40 hours with similar setup but i use virtuous o/c daemon instead of setcpu
big fan of streamline5 and hope that it will get updated eventually
How do you get the virtuos o/c daemon?

Its basically like an automatic setcpu (which can't be changed on the fly) built into the rom, its in virtuous unity roms
What sleep profiles are you guys usein. I seem to have rebooting issues with any kernel I try unless I go to a sense rom. I've tried the vipermod now to see how it goes
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
But how do you get the virtuos O/C daemon to work on MIUI?
You can download it threw rom manager. Even with that kernel I get reboot issues. I assume its cause system ram isn't being cleard fast enough. I'm gonna try 100mv increase to see if there's a difference.

ok. Figured out why perseus kernel ran like poo on my device. I noticed on all my 3d games and sometimes on my browser, there would be be occasional stutter or a slighr but noticeable fps drop leading to a jerky stutter performance. even on the tw launcher I would see it here and there. luckily this awesome device has split screen. So I was able to observe the cpu LIVE as it scales. I ran tons of benchmarks and observed the culprit. While the phone is pushing polygons the cpu down scales to fast and way to much. it would bounce from 1.8ghz to 600mhz constantly. When this aggressive down scale happens then you see the stutter. At least I do. So... Here's the fix. Open Stweaks and on CPU SCALING scroll down to FREQUENCY FOR RESPONSIVENESS. Set that to 1.2ghz or above. Done. enjoy your stuttering free performance. Will this impact your battery? Not much. It just keeps the cpu fast when it needs the power. Once you let go of touching the screen then it scale down to below 1.4ghz.
I think your "fix" may work but I don't think it is optimal. See Andrielux's original N7100 thread and you will see that he recommends keeping this parameter no higher than 600mhz because it causes issues above that. I think there are more direct parameters that can be changed regarding down scaling to fix your issue. You should post this on his thread to get his input as he is quite wise.

yup. I kept an eye on it all day yesterday and with cpuspy I noticed my device was hanging allot of time at 1.2. makes sense. I'll play with it more today.
found a better setting change on stweak! You can leave everything on stweak at default and may change........
under CPU SCALING go to UP THRESHOLD AT FAST-DOWN and set that to 25%. Default is 95. Now using cpuspy I see all the clocks being used healthier compared to before where 1.2ghz was hogging up more. And the studder is gone. This makes the cpu hold 1.8. steady and not down scale when using 3d . try it and you will thank me.
Okay I can confirm it now. This is a good fix for the stuttering. my battery has not taken a hit at all. And it runs smooth. And to boot I'm getting a quadrant score on the 7600. this is the change.
under cpu scaling I changed UP THRESHOLD to 70%. UP THRESHOLD AT FAST DOWN to 20%. Under GPU I changed GPU MAX FREQUENCY to 800mhz. And it's UP THRESHOLD to 80%. Everything else is at stock. Now play with the voltage of the cpu to the lowest possible voltages. And you will be thankful.
So I have found that recently every kernel I try to over clock with will cause bad performance on my phone. I am judging this based on benchmarks which should improve when you over clock (I know benchmarks aren't everything, just using them to compare). Every time I over clock to 1.89 it automatically reboots no matter what kernel or rom I am running. No one else in the kernel thread has this issue. If I run benchmarks with the max clock anything above the stock 1.5Ghz makes my benchmark performance absolutely drop. I have tried:
-multiple kernels and ROM combinations
-multiple CPU managers (ROM toolbox to CM performance control)
-multiple bench markers
Did I somehow destroy my CPU on higher clocks somehow?
And I know I don't need OC for good performance, I am just wondering what's up here. It wasn't always like this.
It's not necessarily anything you did. Not all devices are created equally. Some phone can run at 2.1GHZ and get amazing battery life. You just got dealt a bad phone that doesn't over clock well.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Yes, if you go over 1890Mhz your phone will restart or get stuck in a bootloop. As the person above said is right. Some phones can go up to 2000MHz and some can't. My Gs3 can overclock to 1890 but I keep mine at 1809.
1. Benchmark apps have no use at all.
Its literally just numbers thrown at you. They have no reflection on real world performance.
2.No one phone is the same. Your phone maybe able to go up to 1.8 with out an issue, but other phones might not even make it past 1.7 I even know of a GS3 that runs at 2.1Ghz with out a problem.
3.OC isn't really needed on an S3 if you're having lag issues or anything Odin back to stock and start again.
I personally run my S3 at 1.1Ghz.
I use custom kernels to under clock and not over as over clocking can drain your battery. Your phone will always reboot past 1.8 regardless of the kernel. That's just how your phone works.

Hello guys,
after a lot of test and research with my friend @ktoonsez finally i want ask to all community help us to fix a problem of touchwiz rom.
This thread is also to try to understand who have this problem as me.
First of all the scenario:
- i9505
- KK touchwiz rom (not important the base, i have tried omega, wanamlite, goldeneye, pure stock)
- Stock or custom kernel, is not important since this problem happens also on completely stock rom and kernel
The problem
After heavy playing games for 5/10 minutes the performance became very very low! Game starts to lag a lot and in few minutes became not really playable! The phone is quite hot in the upper part but not really really hot! Exiting game can fix the problem but not always. Only a complete reboot can fix completely the problem!
So i have decide to investigate and i have installed app like KtMonitor (included in kt kernel) or perfmon (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933284) and i have noticed a very strange think!!!
When game start for the first time the cpu speed is max at 1890mhz
After a while the cpu goes to 1458mhz and stays at this freq for a while
After some minutes it scales down to 1242, then to 1134, then to 1026 then to 918 mhz!!!
*When 1134 mhz is reached gpu goes down to 304 mhz and when cpu is at 1026 freq the gpu is at 128/200
In this way the game is not playable anymore!
The only way to see again values upper 1242/1458 is to reboot or wait a long time (and this suggest me a thermal problem)
How reproduce the problem to see if i'm the only one or not!
Install ktmonitor or perfmon (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933284) and lauch it
Install an heavy game such as Asphalt 8 (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftA8HM) or Real racing 3 (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ea.games.r3_row) or Front line commando 3 (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.glu.flc2) or Ridge Racer Slipstream (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.namcobandaigames.ridgeracerss)
Play for some minutes one of these games and during play monitor cpu and gpu (if you are using ktmonitor)
You should notice the cpu scale!
When u report your situation please report also your:
Rom (version also)
Kernel (version also)
Kernel settings (if available)
Bootlaoder version
Particular apps installed
Particular mod flashed
Thanks to all people who want's help me and the community to make these tests and try to find and fix the problem! If we wait for sammy fix...we can die before
Thanks to all!!
