I am trying to downgrade my LG G3 VS98512b so I can root it. I am running Windows 7 Professional Edition in a VM on an elementary OS host. I am following this guide: androidrootz.com/2014/07/how-to-unroot-lg-g3-all-variants.html
I have gotten to step 19, but I cannot get past the "Waiting for connection" stage. The device manager tells me "This device cannot start. (Code 10)." It does this shortly after FlashTool starts waiting; before that, the device is working fine.
I believe I have correctly installed all of the drivers I need, and I am using the LG connector that came with my phone. I have no idea what the problem is. Please advise.
I had that problem when you get to waiting for connection unplug usb lead from phone then reconnect it and it detects it and finishes the job.....
Sadly, that isn't working. When I try unplugging/replugging the first time, I get the waiting message. If I try again while the message is up, some more messages flash by and FlashTool says "Download FAIL!! (0 sec)." The other messages are
Code:
PID: NULL
IMEI: NULL
Model :
DLL : VS985
BIN : VS98510B_03.TOT
SWV :
SWOV :
Model Information Check FAIL!
00000000
This all happens within about a second of unplugging my phone. I've tried using a different USB port on my computer, and I've tried waiting varying amounts of time between unplugging and replugging my phone. While this is happening, my phone doesn't change at all; it just keeps the "Firmware Update" screen. I'm also using VirtualBox version 4.3.26, if that makes any difference.
I have the same problem !
Did u fixe it ?

Okay so I'm trying to downgrade from VS98512b to VS98510b
I've tried both the tot and kdz methods
Tot problems:
I connect the phone in download mode and have to manually "update driver" there are a lot of options for manufacturer and model when I install the driver.
this leads me to my first question: Which driver do I install?
there are 3 separate "devices" my computer recognizes (1) a MTP USB device (2) a LGE Android Phone and (3) a CDC Serial. (All of these devices have the yellow exclamation point)
what I have done is chosen the "CDC serial" device and installed (and tried to use) the drivers titled
"LGE mobile USB serial port"
"LGE AndroidNet for VZW USB serial port"
"LGE AndroidNet USB serial port"
this removes the yellow exclamation point from the serial port but none of these drivers have worked. and When I say "not worked" I mean that the lg flash tool readys up, and I unplug and plug the phone in, and it says "Waiting for connection." It then does nothing. I've stared at it for as much as 25 min before I've given up. and before anyone asks I've followed all the directions and set up the com port to port 41
SO....
Do I have the right drivers?
Do I need to install drivers for the "MTP device" and/or the "LGE Android Phone"?
if so which drivers do I install for those?
KDZ problems:
I have less info on this because after I select "start" the installation window has only question marks as text. but basically I get stuck in an endless loop where I hit the "???" button and the loading bar goes to 4% and it stops and I have to hit the "???" button again.
just for s**ts and gigs I tried hitting "read phone information" before I hit start and it says something along the lines of "imei empty imei auth fail... please check imei value"
Any help is appreciated!
Hi all,
I am still on Android 4.3 and have previously rooted my device. Trying to connect on a Windows 8.1 PC.
Recently I did a factory reset and now I get errors when setting up - "Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped" - after the device name.
I am trying to unroot my device and upgrade to 4.4.2 but I cannot get the device recognised in download mode (power + volume down + home).
I have tried different USB cables, different ports and different PCs and the only difference is that all but one USB port shows the "device descriptor request failed" error in device manager. On one port I can see it when powered on and connected, and it is recognised in Kies and Odin. As soon as I put it in download mode I get an error and the device won't start and I get the "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" error.
I have nothing I need to get off the device, so am happy to try anything to get the device recognised so I can re-flash some firmware!
Any help would be most appreciated...
Thanks

Check make sure USB debugging is checked in Developer options and unknown sources in Security settings are checked.

Thanks buhohitr, I made sure they were checked and same errors.
I was wondering if it possible to load new firmware via the recovery menu? Like load the firmware onto sdcard or something?
Just trying to think of a way to flash firmware without a PC. I found a mobile Odin by Chainfire but this device is not supported.
Any thoughts?
Here's my case:
I've got a LG G3 F400L (Korean LGU Variant), its on Marshmallow(6.0), and for all I know I used the Autorec program for Lollipop, and apparently got my bootloader corrupted; No led flashing, no display. But the Qualcomm 9008 serial port is shown on the device manager and I can use Boardiag to detect it. I know, irony and idiocy made this dilemma.
Diagnostics:
I've used Boardiag 2.99a by willcracker and yes I've checked "AP check" and "EMMC TEST" and both are tagged as "Pass", but when it comes to the "SDRAM TEST" it throws off an error indicating that there is a flash error on partition "boot" along with a 0x3000 and I can't progress beyond that, I've also tried to use the "Restore Device" option to revive it but still the later error still persists.
I've also tried Smart Boot Diagnostics but the problem is that my device's AP Chip doesn't exist on the current version of the tool.
What I would like to press on:
I would want to resolve this on my own and that no amount of suggesting on sending this to the service center would yield fruit. Please do understand, I would also like this to be a thread that can help me and other on resolving their corrupted bootloader units.
Please, can someone help me on my dilemma. Thank you very much. Any amount of help is appreciated.
Try using board diag with the battery unplugged.

Already tried that but still nothing works.
Current situation:
Alas, I've accessed fastboot and had wiped the boot partition, but now the USB is detected as "LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port."

You need to short with a cable internet connection I do this last night and changes for Qalcomm USB in the same time...After that, you need to open BoarDiag and do the process. If you canĀ“t enter in download mode, you need in BoarDiag pass the USERDATA
I follow this link: http://open-freax.fr/guide-unbrick-your-lg-g3/
So I was trying to get the beyond rom on my device, As I was currently flashing through Odin for the rom. I'm not sure what happened during the process of the update but odin shut off on its own and cut the update off. Now I have a message on my device saying " An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency Recovery Function in the Smart Switch Mode. ".
I downloaded the smart switch software on my laptop and now the program is saying it's failing to connect to the device. I've reinstalled the samsung drivers tried many different cables not a single one has worked on my device and I've tried a different laptop too nothing has worked.
Really need some assistance on this.
Just flash stock rom with odin.
No need to panic, put yourself back to download mode, reflash firmware with odin
If you can't get it back to D/L mode (like it was in my case), maybe this helps. Mine is a S10+, though. YMMV for an S20xx
