Hello everyone,
I would like to try the official Google Camera on my T3. Anyone tried it yet? I am concerned if it somehow messes with the stock Sony camera on KK 4.4.4.
On another note, what is your camera option? I am using VSCO Cam lately, gives great results especially in low lighting conditions.
Stay well.
do you mean the google camera app?
If that's it, you can download it from Google play, it's great (and it doesn't mess with the stock camera app)

As the Xperia Arc and Play has a lot of similarity in terms of the software, firmware version, is it possible to port the fantastic user friendly Arc defaults camera apps to PLAY?

Ofcourse it's possible. As you may have noticed we seem to have a shortage of developers for the xplay maybe when doomlord gets his play he MAY look into it
Thanks for your reply, I found PLAY is a bit unique from Arc and Neo. Not sure if it is a good thing. Fortunately it now updated with the HD video recording which make it more fun for the camera.

totaly agreed need to be ported only zhdzu can do it
May I know what or who is zhdzu?
I personally like the default camera app, and there are a few panorama apps in the market, I know they arn't as good as Sony's but whatever if you want a proper 360 view just record it.
What is so special about the Arc's camera anyway?

Its not very special, but its kind of bot fair as the Xperia series should all share the same camera apps that design by the Sony Ericsson. But as you can see, only Play is using the default camera apps that comes with the Android gingerbread...
Why Play does not deserve to get the better SE camera apps? Since it is the Playstation Phone Flagship of the company and its camera spec is fully compatible with the Arc's camera app.
Hi,
Does anybody knows if Doom is working on porting the ARC camera app to PLAY, I know he just got his newly Xperia PLAY, so I'm excited about what he will be able to create for ous phones.
Sorry for grave digging but has anyone made progress with this? I HATE the gingerbread camera app, it's quite unresponsive (compared to iPhones) and would love to try out one made by SE

x2 i want this too.
yeah, it would be great if we can use the Arc version camera...
Nobody knows anything?
I'm running Cyanogenmod 10 now, but I really don't like the Android 4.1 (nor 4.2) camera app.
The 4.1 camera wastes a whole lot of viewfinder space for the on-screen capture button, while the 4.2 camera only does pictures up to 8 megapixels and it crashes when tapping the screen while recording videos (probably due to the Xperia S being unable to do touch-focus in video mode)
Therefore I'd like to know what the best, most functional camera app of the moment is, for Android.
I'd like to be able to take both stills and videos with the same app, as well as being able to switch scene modes and use other common settings.
And more importantly, it has to look right. I want to be able to access everything I need quickly and it should feel as if it were a stock app.
If anyone could help me and probably others too, It'd be greatly appreciated. :good:
Stock camera.
Maybe Lg Camera.

Hey guys!
I recently bought the Z1 Compact, mainly for the camera and the small size.
Now, I have been going through some content on the web and have come across people reporting against Sony's compression strategy which basically comes to play in the Superior Auto mode in its own camera app (which it does while upsampling or whevever).
Now, I also see some other camera apps on the market like Google's own camera app and Flickr's app and would like to know if there's any difference in image quality between them.
Also, what's the best 'strategy' to take pictures with this phone.. take 8 MP in Superior Auto mode or take full-resolution shots and then compress them via some software on the computer?? (and if yes, which software and how?).
Also, will I see any difference in the camera performance if I install Cyanogenmod on my device. If yes, what sort?
Waiting to hear back
Cheers!
Use hd camera pro an camera 360 ultimate

You will see a difference, as CM (and every other AOSP ROM) doesn't have the fine-tuned camera drivers Sony uses. So image quality will be lower.
I use Google Camera for the panorama/photosphere functionalities, and Sony's camera for everything else. On Xposed there is a mod that changes the Superior Auto resolution to the max resolution, you could try that.
Other than the stock camera, and Google Camera, I've yet to find a single camera application that actually supports the Z1C's HDR camera mode, all applications will take multiple shots and then do software HDR, whereas the camera is capable of doing HDR on its own (or so it seems when I use the first two applications).
Is there a reason why applications that use Software HDR can't just use the hardware version when installed in a device that supports it? Why I can't find other apps that use it?
I am not satisfied with the stock or Google camera, yet I don't want to give up HDR support to switch to something else :/
HDR is not a Hardware feature, in all cameras or Smartphones is a software picture treatment..

I think he means that we have a HDR capable sensor..
Try Camera FV5 .. Someone told me that camera 360 app takes good pics in sony.. try that also..
Is there any reason that the sony cybershot camera apps package included in Sony STOCK ROM 5.0.2 can't be installed with any lollipop ROM....?
I have CM12.... and once MultiROM is available for the Z1c I'll be installing lots of ROMS to try them out but would be good to have Sony's Camera, and Walkman that work across all of them.
Can the Sony camera apps package be extracted from the system SIN file within a SONY STOCK lollipop zip and installed into any ROM...?
The Walkman app works.... I already have it.... just can't seem to find the camera apps anywhere

Stock camera being Sony....? So are you on Stock ROM or have you found somewhere to download the original Sony camera apps package and installed them....? I'm looking everywhere trying to find the apps package with no luck so if you can help that would be awesome,
EDIT:.... I now have Snap... very nice HDR capability but have no idea if it's using the Hardware of the cybershot...?
Hello,
Deep in my mind I still remember how my Xperia S was amazing with taking pictures on stock rom.
Than i got kk, and now 5.1 nAOSP from mickybart.
So i wonder is there any port of camera that brings back the vivid and sharp photos?
The nAOSP camera is "ok" but it lacks options, no hdr etc. and it have sooo much problems with focus.
So i thought that someone may know how to improve it.
I srearched over crossdevices xperia thread but not much I foung for android 5.0+ there ;/.
Any help ??
My Xperia is still in the drawer [emoji15] . Well I used Lenovo'S Super Camera (can't remember full name) but it is ported on XDA.

This port is for Android 4.x and above. I think I stopped using it due to the startup time [emoji20]
Try the Google Camera from the play store if you'd like the android stock look [emoji1]
For android 5.x I'd recommend the HTC port. I haven't tested it on the xps but works great on s5 and works on all Android 5 builds as it doesn't use the new camera2 api
https://goo.gl/Zi0uKQ
I've extracted it from my device - install camera first and then if it fails then install service pack then camera then gallery. The files only work for ANDROID 5.
My personal experience is with the Lenovo Camera and it is far better than AOSP stock. I've never tried HTC on the XPS but it is hundred times better than the Stock Camera on my S5 due to the manual exposure settings and quick snaps. Some modes like panorama and bokeh don't work they require the HTC Camera chip (omnivision device)
Is there a way to have the stock camera on nAOSP ? It would be perfect !!!
