I posted this in the app section but not had a response yet, I could really do with an app like this after an incident the other night.
If there is not a specifc app is there any other way to achieve this?
Thanks.
search for DDMf in the app market.
its free and does (I think!) what you are looking for
Thank you very much for your reply! I'll check it out.
Just wanted to thank yous for your help on this Setting profiles provides the functionality I need although it doesn't work properly. However, I have managed to find similar apps that I am in the process of testing.
If you have any questions that may be development related please post them in here instead of making a new thread. Me and hopefully others will try to answer your question to the best of your abilities. Plus it saves me from moving a few hundred threads a day
Thanks!

Where is the best place to learn Linux Kernel Development, or more specifically, Android Kernel Development (if there's any major differences in the two).
I have a slight Computer Science background from being self-taught in basic C programs, an understanding for Object Oriented Programming, and also learning Java throughout school.
I've heard that http://kernelnewbies.org/ is good as well as the standard www.kernel.com website to grab the latest kernel and start tinkering.

The sites you listed are pretty good, also try and learn a little C, or some google searching does wonders

Well im not sure of your question, but you can set profiles in SetCPU so that when your screen goes off it can slow the clock down
[Q] Is the G2 capable of Screen Sharing/DLNA
I love my G2, but one feature that I wish the it incorporated is the DLNA screen sharing feature that the MyTouch 4g is touting. Does anyone know if this is something that's possible on the G2?
wrong forum!
i have to ask only because im clueless, wtf is DLNA screen sharing?
thanx, veritas

My understanding of it is this, it's the ability to stream content directly from your phone to a DLNA compliant device, kind of like a networked media storage device would do. It can be a substitute for TV out in some cases. I have some movies (home movies, photos, etc) that I just recorded on my G2 and want to watch them on my TV. Well, my PS3 is DLNA compliant and I would stream these movies through my PS3. If anyone else has anything to add or wants to correct anything that I may have misstated please do.
How can I enable the long-hold action for the Menu button that pops up the on-screen keyboard?
While I am foaming at the mouth to know how to make my g2 dlna, i have a far moar simple question.
Just need some help starting an app.. such as setcpu from visionary.sh.
I know i can set it from app to start on boot, but have run into it not having su permission at that point. yes I am a script or cmd line no0b but any help would be appreciated.

I feel that's a bit more specific question to be asked in the visionARY app thread located: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808514

In regards to my posting, is there a decent Guide or Bible that has the various complexities of the Android Kernel?
What is QMI, What is Fastboot, all these types of important Acronyms and Terms that are not known to the general joe schmoe.
Thanks

Your answer to my question was sooo unhelpful. Read that thread my question is posted there, and it has gone unanswered. I have also read most of the threads in general, app, and have done a search with no real clear answer.
So now you can either help me or give me some moar useless links.

Take a look at this thread. Should help you get through it easily.
to tell you the truth i was afraid to root my cliq because i didnt want to brick the phone, so no i havent temp rooted yet. i have the new ota. with the temp root if i shut my my off or it dies will it revert back to stoc because of the backup installed
edit. i downloaded visionary about 5 minutes ago so i did the 1 click root.
First off, its not a backup. Secondly, if you reboot you'll clear the cache and will have to re-root. Its temp, so you won't brick your phone.

Edit: the correct links are down a couple posts.
I posted this over in the AT&T forum and thought I'd give back a little cause its pretty cool.
I recently posted a question in Q&A about any TV remote apps that can be voice controlled. No luck. I stumbled upon this tasker plugin by Ozkaya that is awesome. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=45572797. It allows you to program your IR remote with Pronto hex codes(many found here http://www.remotecentral.com/ as posted in the Dev's thread).
I combo'd this with Utter! and like magic, I was able to program voice controllable macro's, functions, anything really as long as the hex codes were available. And there is alot of them. I have Verizon Fios and the motorola codes worked for my box even though they weren't the same model. To me, this is an awesome show off tool (and slightly practical if I am eating chicken wings and need to switch between football games!). I literally say "phone" to wake up utter and "channel back" or "ESPN". as a command.
I did nothing here but stumble upon a combo of apps that work great together. If you like the idea please check out the thread and thank the Dev's and support their work. I feel this is one of those gems that slipped back a few pages and got lost. Hope you like it too.
If someone really wants to get tweaky, here is another plugin for Tasker that will initiate the voice recognition in Utter! when the phone is on charge and the stop it when is taken off charge. Its towards the bottom of the thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=34339449.
Congrats using tasker! I hate it! I prefer just writing out a full android app xD

Yea I don't know how to that but it would be great if you could write it. I'd buy.

Thanks for the ideas. I mainly do this to really show the kids what can be done with this tech, but this is actually practical as my 85 pound "lap dog" likes to curl up on me and makes getting to the remote a little hard at times.
God, it took me hours to figure out how to get Tasker to send a text at a set time and for that have hated Tasker and never delete that profile, but going to try this out. Thanks for posting man

Thanks bro. Its definetly more of a cool show off tool but I searched hard for an app that did it and ccouldn't find one. Tasker is a little tough but this is all premade commands so its a little easier. Still took me a few minutes to set up though. Regardless, I imagine only a few people can this with a phone which makes it cool to me. Hope you like it too.
No problem.
I had a moment of being a complete ass.
Go into a local place that has the TV just way too loud.
Have the phone programmed to send the universal TV off codes and just say "Phone, shut that **** off" and see what happens.

Been searching via google for these but no luck so far finding an answer. Here is what I am trying to figure out.
1. Is it possible to display the active tasker profile in Zooper? In know there is some functionality with tasker and Zooper but not got enough knowledge of it.
2. Is it possible to link my Google + profile picture to Zooper so it shows up on widget.
3. Is it possible to display the mah of the current charging the device. Much like Gsam battery monitor does.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Chris
Anyone have any pointers?

1) The Tasker variable %PACTIVE displays a comma separated list of all currently active profiles so it's just a matter of passing that list to a zooper variable.
2) Not that I know of.
3) No. You might be able to put something together using Tasker, maybe.

Awesome. Might give this a try. Thanks

Time of all day events is 00-00 but Zooper. Eg. Today is 11 of June and I have all day event on 12-th of June, and I'm using +#C0STd# to show days left till next event, so that event is shown as +0 instead of +1. How can I fix it?
Here's what I did in Tasker and Zooper.
See the attached, you will need to rename the .txt to . prf for tasker and .zw i think for Zooper.
I stumbled on this reddit post where the user explained how they did it. They also referenced this tutorial. I am a total noob at Tasker, so I have no idea what I'm doing. In the tutorial it explains how to change the keyboard on a per app basis. But the Reddit post says something about hooking into a variable, which the tutorial doesn't seem to go into. Can someone ELI5 on how to do this?
Thanks.
