Cases scratching chrome bezel - ONE Accessories

Hi guys anyone noticing how easy the chrome frame scratchs I came to realise it was my case trapping the dirt hence scratching the frame anyone else having the same issue ?

I bought another 1+1 because I don't like Scratch's lol

why have you too?

Same problem here man, my chrome bezel particularly at the top is covered in scratches. There's also a chip where i think a piece of grit or something must've got trapped in there and took a chunk out of the bezel. Shame really.

I have the Diztronic case and no scratches... :good:

You could carefully use a bit of sandpaper or something to brush down the entire chrome frame.. Then, it would look professional (Like it was supposed to be like that) and you wouldn't have to worry about new scratches appearing..

Oh, i didn't know that.. Perhaps look around on the internet for some paint similar to that already on the device, and paint over the scratches?
---------- Post added at 10:31 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:26 AM ----------
Either that, or see if there are replacement parts for the One, and simply replace the frame whenever it is scratched..? Personally, i'm not too fussed about the scratches.

is it black plastic underneath? if so, i'm thinking about using a sharp razor and scratching the cheap looking chrome off it to get that all black look.

Hi all!
Thread cleaned of nonsense. If you have nothing constructive to add, don't click reply.
Good?

Scratched my Desire

Actually it was my mom who dropped it and the Desire got it TO THE FACE!!!
I have now 3 pretty big scratches on the aluminium plate, near the power button...
Any idea how to fix that? This is the first time I dropped (actually it wasn't me) my Desire... right into concrete! Ooo how I hate my mom now...
Can't post pics, coz I don't have all my other phones with me... on holyday right now.
I've done the same thing, got a case that covers the scratch but I'm still gutted

The best way to remove sratches is with " Brasso " its for cleaning copper and metal but it is a light abrasive that buffs scratches out or plastic and metal really well.
Just be careful when using as it can get a bit messy, only us a tiny bit.
Good Luck
R
Thanks for the reply!
Will try Brasso when I get home... I hope it will fix it, but I doubt it will remove the scratches, coz they are pretty bad
I think it's plastic not aluminium
When I dropped mine the top corner of the faceplate dented inwards so I'm pretty sure it's metal... as for buffing out the scratched with Brasso, if they're on the faceplate by the buttons as you said I dont thing Brasso (or any other rubbing polish / compund) will help as all this will do is REMOVE the paint / covering. You need to be adding back not taking away - see if you can find a modeling shop they might have some similar coloured pain that you could cover the scratchs with...
Just a thought without seeing the marks...
I did the same as snear and got a plastic cover from Amazon - they were £4 for 3 (DEAL!) and will take most of the abuse in a drop situation - I hope!
If it is metal, try the wax compounds that car accessory shops sell to fill in scratches
Try some super resin polish sold by autoglym, this will fill in the scratch but it wont remove it.
Thanks for all the answers!
I will try some metal filling compound and report back as soon as I finish it
That sucks bigtime buddy... that's why i keep mine in a gel case with a screen protector applied. I would be so annoyed if my phone had marks/scratches on it, especially when the time comes to sell it

Scratched camera window

Hi All,
Does anyone know of a fix for a scratched camera window? Can it be replaced with out changing battery covers? Maybe a DIY? I'm considering the polishing attachments on my rotary tool at the moment.
Chris.

Just ditch the camera window or get creative. watch in sequence:

I had the same issue, and in the end i replaced the back cover because it was pissing me off. Not a cheap solution (25€) but worth it imho. Together with that i ordered a martin fields protector, which includes a small protector (much more resistant than default plastic) for that window, it helps a lot. Being that thing made of cheap plastic it's all you can do about it i'm afraid...it's a shame htc didn't use some more glass for a high end device tho...
I saw a thread somewhere about people replacing the standard plastic lens cover with a sapphire glass one - clear image and no degradation in quality over time
yeah hope to fin something better then that cover in last vid
Just got a set of martin fields protectors, excellent but a little pricey compared to most, easiest fix is just remove the back cover when taking photos and then snap back on after.
Toothpaste
Toothpaste as done the trick for me, i will be going to a watchmakers for some sapphire glass.

indeed, I've popped mine out currently, quality is amazing now!
in theory you don't need a replacement window (the magic never had one to begin with) but I have dirty pockets so I'm going for a sapphire replacement glass as well.

I have my HTC Desire for about 8 months. After first 3 months that plastic was BADLY scratched. After a few months the plastic was cristal clear again , the only thing i did was to rub it every day with a very soft glasses cleaner cloth in order to remove the smudge, the result was unexpected, because i didn't had in mind to remove the scratches that way.
yes post is very bad, i cant find it any where, on thw interweb if u find a better i,e cheaper please post here.

[Q] Cleaning the gap?

Hi,
My phone has a gap along the right side and bottom of the phone. After seeing all of the news about the gap, I wasn't surprised about having it. All three Note 4s that have crossed come through my house have had it, and all in the same place. If shine a light down in the gap and look carefully, I can see what looks like silver mesh of some kind.
Is there anything that I can use to clean the gap out? I have a case on the phone, and the lip of the case covers it, but crap still gets in there. The gap itself does not really bother me. I had one on my S3 as well, and forgot it it was there. But that gap was different in that it did not appear to actually go all the way down in to the phone. I think that the gap on the N4 does. I'd like to keep it clean, so that dust and stuff doesn't actually get in to the phone.
Thanks

Sounds like a job for compressed air
You can get a air compress can that used to clean computer which can be purchase at any computer store like Bestbuy etc.. To further protect from the dirt, you could get a case with build in screen protector like this one http://www.amazon.com/Ghostek-Bulle...ds=note+4+case+with+built+in+screen+protector

is the screen protector built into the case? or do you put the screen protector on separately ?
i use compressed air because my stupid pants pockets have lint and like dust all inside them somehow, and it gets caught up under my TPU case lip when i wipe the screen with my cloth to clean it up. so i just blow in the gap if i'm out, or take compressed air to it if i'm home. every phone i've had has a gap, so idk why they made such a big deal out of the N4. my rezound had one bad, the G2 even had one.
I have a case and it seems the lip goes over the gap. not sure how big your gap is but I am sure a case would help.

Oh well. I put up with it on my S3. I guess it's not that big a deal here.

It comes with screen protector, large enough so that the case will cover all the edges. If you zoom in you should see no gap.

Ok, my Incipio isn't as good as I thought. It doesn't really cover the gap along the bottom of the phone. I'm thinking of trying a commuter. It looks like it has a bigger lip on it. What kind of case do you have?

Painting the htc 10??

Hi all,
Have had my 10 since release day have had it in a case and screen protector since day one, both expensive ones too, tempered and a tech 21, now the tech 21 allowed a little bit of grit to get underneath the case and through pressure from my pocket or handling, the grit has etched a small scratch from the gun metal paint on the back at the top of the phone. I've now got a phantomskinz skin on it so it's covered but I wondered if anyone has ever matched the paint colour and type and attempted to either spray or touch up a mark?
There is no dents, literally just a chip from the paint, really annoyed me, tech 21 have been superb for me in the past.
I also have a friend who has dropped his literally the day he thought he didn't need a case and has a few scratches on the back, it was actually him who suggested painting it, at first I thought no way but thought I'd ask on here just in case anyone has ever committed to trying to paint their phone, htc 10 or not and how did you get along?
I'm sure we're not alone in having the odd scratch or two on our shiney htc 10s.
Any thoughts? Places who may do the job or what the colour or paint type is specifically? Is it treated? With what?,
Cheers [emoji106]

Aye, they'd look a lot better if we could just touch them up when they took a knock.
You could theoretically paint these all-metal phones pretty easily. You would, however, need to completely disassemble the phone to get just the back shell (in this case specifically) so that you could begin prep work on it for paint/powder coating.
You would first use a high grit sanding on it to rough the surface up for adhesion. Then you either:
a)apply paint
b)begin process of powder coat
Too much effort, in all honesty, for this device though. I've watched a fair number of tear down videos, and the 10 looks to be as bad, if not worse, than the M8/M9 to take apart. I have to replace my screen on my M8, to keep it for my new burner device, so I may take it entirely apart and paint it electric blue by hand. Either that, or do a high polish on it, and get it shiny.

I wouldn't take the device apart to be honest. I think if the paint was matched a small brush could cover the scratches.

That's what I mean, it's the tiny blemishes that are the easiest to cover up but still annoying, if you get a scratch on your car you can get it resprayed or touched up same with paint on walls at home or pretty much anything I'm surprised that a service like this doesn't already exist.

The OP mentioned using one already. Skins are basically stickers that'll fade and peel over time and the corners will start to lift in cases where you don't apply perfectly, like a screen protector.
To the OP, may sound silly but some car paint shops have machines that match a materials color down to the H/S/V and can supply touchup paint. Have you looked into that?

I haven't mate, but I have to say I agree, ultimately something on a smaller scale would be ideal.
Have been quite busy these last few days but will be actively looking into it next week and may even price up some paint if I can match up the colour and type, I have a friend who does custom jobs (cars) so he may know more. Will let you guys know if I find anything worth mentioning.
Cheers for the idea.

I have a phantom skinz skin, which is solid and really stuck on there, looks great but defeats the object when you know there are blemishes or scratches underneath, if you were to resell the phone, a few scratches could really impact the price.

v20 dbrand thread

Mine's a mix of carbon fiber, leather, and hyperblack titanium. What's yours?
Hyperblack titanium all around. I tried some "titanium" but it was just a gaudy silver that looked pretty bad mixed with black, so I went all black. I was a little disappointed that the skin for the V20 doesn't fit as perfect as it did on the Note 7, but I doubt anyone would notice unless they have a keen eye for detail. The important thing is the phone is protected from scratches and it's got some grip now.
Have either of you noticed that using the camera skin in the rear wide angle lens "dirties up" the frame? Making it look like vignetting on the right of the camera. I think they need to make the holes a little bigger.
Still waiting for mine... In the mail...
I was contemplating whether to buy dbrand or buy case. Does removable back cause any issues with dbrand?

I got the exact same configuration, I'm glad now to know how sweet it looks. Also, can you please let us know what theme is that?
Yep same thing happened to me. Thought I messed it up and used another with the same result. I ended up cutting it to make the hole square instead of circular and it was enough. Also emailed dbrand to let them know.

I thought the holes looked a bit small but none of my pictures have looked like yours. Maybe your alignment is just a fraction of a hair off? Or maybe you accidentally put it on backwards? I noticed it's barely asymmetrical (the larger hole goes over the flash).

I couldn't get mine to fit absolutely perfect, so it hangs off the edge slightly, however it doesn't stop you being able to get the back off. Some of the corners on the case are rounded whereas the dbrand is more square. I highly doubt anyone would notice it except someone really looking for flaws.

YES!!! Now that you mentioned it I took a look . . . and you are correct. All four corners are darkened out. Can't have that!!
I saw a comment over on AC that some complaints have been send to dbrand about the issue.
They send out two lens covers. I think I make try modifying the second one and reinstalling.
Thanks.

Yes. Can cover everything except the buttons.
PS. Guys if you have problems with edges just try to worm it up with hairdryer.
Its much easier to to make perfect shape as you can even stretch the vinyl a bit by pulling it gently.
This is mine. Done in the middle of march. I have to say the vinyl is very durable.
Nice, I decided to take advantage of a sale and try Slickwraps again. Plus they have customizing options now.
