[Q] Screen dead after battery replacement - Huawei Ascend P6, Mate

Hi,
I have a Huawei Ascend P6 that had battery issues, battery was not holding charge and was even inflating at the point that lifted back cover so I decided to replace it. I bought the replacement and follow a guide on Ifixit for battery replacement.
After I replace it I powered the phone and started up (sounds and vibration) but screen was dead. I can also hear notifications and receive phone calls (obviously I canĀ“t answer). Has anyone had an issue like this before?

Did you check the clipped cables?
You can hear them "click in"..
Changed a battery myself after a water damage..
Took me some time so pry it out gently cause off the adhesive its glued with..
Damage could be done at this point, when forcing it too much..
But check the clipped cables first..When i remember correctly, the LCD cable is the big one at bottom left..

[Q] Desire HD very sick - need repair help

Hiya,
my Desire HD got wet in the front pocket of my fleece, not drowned just some droplets of water that got inside the Otterbox case and into the phone. I did try and turn it on before I realised it had got wet, it wouldn't power up.
I removed the phone from the Otterbox and dried everything and tried to turn it on again as there was only very slight traces of moisture apparent. There was condensation and a couple of little drops of water inside. I discovered there must have been enough moisture to short out the battery as there was a little residue mark above the contacts on the inside of the casing. I then noticed the liquid indicators had turned red.
I removed the battery cover and dried the phone gently using an electric room heater for hours, I also put the phone in a bag of rice for a couple of days.
I tried to power it up again after a few days in the rice and it wouldn't start up. I measured across the battery contacts with a multi meter and found the battery was open circuit, so I know it must have shorted. Hoping that this was the only damage I bought a new replacement battery. When I fitted the new battery nearly a week later and switched on the phone, everything seemed to be fine but the display seemed to flash, and as I had a Leedroid rom installed I heard R2D2 chirping and could see the device start to boot up as normal on the screen. Then the display went dark and hasn't worked since. I stripped the phone and cleaned a couple of patches of residue, one of which was right in the lcd connector.
Now when I try and start the phone there is no display, the phone vibrates once when I hold in the power button. Approximately 40 or 50 seconds later I can hear R2D2 making his tweeting noises which always happens on boot up. I didn't think it took so long to hear R2D2 but maybe the phone is checking the file system or something now, and I just can't see it.
It may be that I just need a new screen & digitizer to repair the phone, but I can't tell what might be on the display - maybe it's the phone unlock screen asking for my pin number etc. I can't see any image on the screen, that you would normally see when the baclight is faulty, I have tried to view it with a desk lamp, but it's just black. The capacitive buttons at the bottom don't seem to have any effect, perhaps they are not enabled if it's sitting at the password screen, if it is at that screen.
The l.e.d's don't light up at the top when I turn it on or plug in the charger.
I might have also damaged the volume key switch/ribbon slightly.
What would you do with this phone, any advice on how I could proceed ?
Would it be working just with no display, as R2D2 is squeaking(Leedroid rom has this when the device boots and has an animation of a pc booting up with the post screen) ?
No l.e.d's is a bit worrying and it doesn't seem to know when on charge etc. but perhaps they only work once the phone has booted, I can't remember DOH!
I just thought I would ask, as there are a lot of knowledgeable people on here and it might be possible to save my droid.
Grateful for any help or advice
kind regards
Barry

[Q] Touchscreen sensitivity problem. Microphones problem.

Yesterday I accidentally dropped my phone in the basin and about 30% of the upper part of the phone submerged into the water. I quickly picked my phone up and the screen started to blink. The phone shut off not long later and the first thing I did was to remove the battery but it was non-removable. So I screwed out the nuts and remove the inner cover and pulled out the battery. Then I carefully took out all the components inside (panels, camera, speakers) and used hairdryer to dry them out. After all, I assembled back all the components and hoped it would work. Thankfully, the phone was alive again and everything seemed to be like normal but then, I realised my gestures couldn't be detected on the right side of the screen and my microphones weren't working. Any way to fix it and what is the price for the spare parts? Below is my touchscreen service test.

[Q] LG G3 display not working

Upon power up flashes green then blue, no LG logo or anything else. If i plug USB connection to the PC the PC recognizes the phone any suggestions? By the way this happened after the phone was dropped, no visible signs of the screen being cracked.
Try holding power button for like 30 seconds. Or pull battery
Was this ever resolved? My friends phone did the exact same thing the other night, you can still feel it vibrate across the unlock pads and it makes noise and everything when receiving texts, can even answer calls if you know exactly where to push accept call.
It's the strangest thing.
Looks like a broken mainboard from the drop. Or perhaps cracked screen near the connection to the mainboard.
Not Resolved

Replaced the bazel/Screen/LCD, still same issue.
As I said: broken mainboard....
Same friend I was talking about earlier, exact same issue, he had his old phone he was using and just recently we found the issue, it had mild water damage from snow getting in his pocket right around the display connector inside, so we cleaned it up with alcohol, made some colors at the bottom but then would go black again, we took the logic board out, reflowed it in stages on each side so everything was good, tried it again, exactly half the screen (right side) worked perfect, so finally, brought it in, they said the display was faulty and replaced the phone under warranty.
So, conclusion, we didn't touch the display, Bell said the display was broken and just replaced his phone.
We only touched the logicboard and we got it half working, if we knew a better method of reflowing a mobile logic board (chips on both sides so you can't reflow the same way as laptop motherboard) so it was a lot harder but we probably could have fixed it if we kept at it and knew more about what size of the logic board needed the reflow the most
We used a bunch of clay if anyone is wondering, worked it in out hands till it was very plyable, make a pile slightly bigger then logic board, push board flat I to clay so it holds the underside chips pressed and in place, reflow top, repeat once cooled, it got half the screen working from a phone that had physical water damage and corrosion on the display connector so, this will probably work for you.

Speaker, Mic and Vibration not working?

Hi Folks,
I recently dropped my phone in water. Put the phone in uncooked rice for 2 days, removed sim tray, put it under direct sunlight., tried everything I could possible to dry it. After 4 days, powered on the device, it turned on fine and most of the things working as normal. I did a hardware test with *#808# and most of the tests are passed.
But Speaker, Mic (also the headphone jack) and Vibration isn't working any more. I also noticed that it is charging fine but discharging very fast, even the battery stats shows 100 to 70% as a vertical line. So, I guess battery needs to be replaced. Other than that, on normal use it is heating up.
I did some google search and few forums says, the speaker and vibration connector goes under battery and connect to the top of motherboard. Considering battery is screwed up. I guess the connector is removed or damaged may be.
Has anyone faced the same problem before or anyone can advice something?

You can't dry a phone completely without opening it. So if you are upto it, open it up (provided you are out of warranty) and disconnect all the connectors and clean them with alcohol or other suitable liquid, leave it to dry and then reassemble.
It's hard to guess exactly what happened inside, but it seems there are two possibilities:
- it could be that your top (main) board is damaged, which causes malfunction of connected bottom board OR
- you may have damaged both parts of the phone...
Either case, repairs won't be cheap, motherboard is the most expensive part of the phone.
I would suggest disassembling the device and inspecting internals. Corrosion should be visible.
Check some teardown videos (recommend Jerry Rig Everything or iFixit) before doing anything if you haven't yet.

Thank you @Explorer23 and @tnsmani will do a tear down to check for visible damage part if any.
Took the phone to OP service centre, the repair guy opened it in-front of me for diagnosis. The phone was in dry condition but there were traces of water deposits. He checked few things and suggested that needs to replace mother board as there was no signal coming to speaker receiver and this will cost ~17k.
For me replacing motherboard for such a huge cost isn't of any worth.
Any suggestion if it can be repaired in someway or shall I start to think about selling/exchanging it online.

Help me rescue this Submerged G4

Hello,
Last week my mother came to me with the H818 G4 dripping wet. She dropped it into the toilet, then thoroughly washed it with tap water and soap (!.... yeah... ), then tried multiple times to power it on until finally giving it to me few hours later to "at least save the data from it".
I put it in 99,9% isopropyl alcohol and held it there for a few hours. Then left it for ~30h in a warm place for all moisture to evaporate. Fully charged it. It seemed like it came back to life, with the only problem of showing some bubbles under the display (the isopropyl alcohol must have eaten some of the glue that holds the digitizer). Barely managed to copy the contacts to the SD card when the screen started to show some artefacts, 15s later completely turning black and unresponsive.
Then I took it apart to find the golden felt strip covering the screen ribbon still damp. I left the motherboard in alcohol for a few hours (there were whiteish oxidation spots all over) and ordered a new complete and refurbished screen for the H818 from a reputable ebay seller, thinking that the screen data ribbon and/or controller got shorted and toast.
Now with the new screen, it still won't turn on. It makes the power on sounds, but nothing else. I did a hard reset holding the power button pressed for a while with the battery off, and then it showed a completely white screen before turning black again.
What do you think it is wrong with it? Did the motherboard get toast?
PS: just retested it and with a sim inside it is receiving calls. It's just that the screen is fully "dead"...
Your going to need to remove oxidization with brush then a qtip and alcohol propyl that is near 100 percent....no 90 is not good enough
Then your going to need a lamp....with heat to dry it off, or maybe a blow dryer on cold air setting and let it sit
After that you really need a magnifying glass....if there is any white oxidation left your are still short circuiting (the phone won't power on properly)
This takes time and patience not dumping it in iproply, not letting it dry, and hoping your oxidized mothrerboard will boot
Guess what 90 percent means 90 percent alcohol 10 percent water
Are you sure u didn't damage the cable connector to screen or bent it any other way?
Before you waste your time you might want to show me your motherboard before things get sloppy and u really ruin it, or it it is ruined. In this case the oxidation turns brown (corrosion)....or it is simply not worth it because a components is damaged
There are absolutely no signs of burnt circuits on the motherboard, and no (longer any) visible signs of oxidation.
I've found the service manual, and looking at the schematics, I'd bet that it's either the DW8768 dc/dc converter or one of the surrounding capacitors/resistors that shorted and died. Replacing such small components is beyond my expertise and tooling, so it seems like I'll have to take it to someone...

Are you sure all the solders are clean?
---------- Post added at 12:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:32 PM ----------
You might want to try one more time with a brush ....if things start flaking off...its not clean
You will then need a qtip again.
Something as small as a solder point will cause short circuits
The brush is key
I would tlit while your brushing it off into a dark surface so u can see where it is coming off and and clean area with qtip again
Last thing you can try is electrical contact cleaner.....clean all connectors with it. Automotive section has it. Ie. Screen cable
After that next step is throw it against the wall or bang it like tvs back in the day
No one is going to guranteee reflexing the board and solder points after a machine did it.....it would take some precise mouse hands .... no one has to play around and try and mimic what a robot did. Not worth it nor are parts available other than the power controller chip
Just came back from the shop, the guy said it's either (more likely) a filter that shorted from oxidation, or (less likely) the cpu got damaged from water ingress by the memory chip, as there are no signs of oxidation or burning.
He asked me to come back on Monday, as today is fully booked and he's not "comfortable with customers items sitting in the shop over the weekend". So I guess I'll find out on Monday...
