Google+ Running When Unlock Phone? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Lately (last week or so) sometimes when I unlock my phone Google+ is running with just a black screen and I have to hit the home button to close out. I wake phone to see a Google+ at the top of an otherwise black screen. I never even open G+ so this has been frustrating. Anyone else seeing this? I don't want to uninstall because I use it for photo editing

Are you rooted? I'm having the same problem and it's driving me nuts. I'm running a log right now in case it does it again to see exactly what's going on

Are you running in battery save mode at all? also what rom are you on? aosp or stock based?
ive noticed some apps have strange artifacts on battery save mode for aosp > i.e. lollipop L launcher. panels disappear from the app drawer (due to an animation im guessing)

I'm running battery save mode at 30%. Rooted since day 1 but stock ROM

The same thing has been happening to me but only after I charge it, and every time I charge it. I started noticing it about 2 or 3 weeks ago. The first, or one of the first, times it happened it froze the phone and I could not do a soft or hard reboot, had to remove the battery.
I have a T-Mobile G3 (D851) not rooted, stock Tmobile Kitkat 4.4.2, no battery saver.
My phone is tied to my gmail account so I'm guessing this behavior might be related to some type of auto-backup/sync. Still trying to figure out what service though.

same issue
I have the same problem. I was rooted at one point but unrooted before i updated to lollipop so now i am only on stock. I also have battery saver one, 15% i think. I know if i just charge it for a bit it doesn't happen so it has something to do with it charging for a while

I used CR ota update to keep Root, but wife been using it for 2 days(just got the phone) and havent notice any problems or flukes on it.. if you can describe it or try maybe can help with it or something
ok heres the problems im having right now:
homescreen locks during calls and wont come back on unless i slide the phone open.
orientation doesnt change
also showing a headset is connected and there isnt one.
its not rooted or anything
firmware 2.1-update1
baseband 47.41.35.1OU_7.09.35.10
kernel 2.6.29-293AB809
build 1.35.531.1CL216830 release-keys
software 1.35.531.1
browser webkit 3.1
not really sure why its doing this but before the update, it was completely fine!
What you can try to do is , go into recovery and do a wipe factory reset, see if that will help, we our self jus encounter a problem.. but im rooted,
but try that and that could possible fix some problems
Ya the wifi mms isn't working on my end on receiving pics, the faves icon isn't working either when I get something from one of them, umm radio is better so far, let's see that's about it so far idk about anything else

Well, I'm having problems, too. I am rooted, running CR's stock ROM with the update and before now, my battery life was bearable but now, I was just on the phone for like, five minutes and my battery jumped about 20 percent... Before I have never had this problem. And apparently, it's supposed to IMPROVE battery life, but my phone shows otherwise. I got up at 7 this morning, with my phone fully charged. By noon, I was at 40%. Odd? Usually, I could get to like, 10 PM before it even hit 40%. My brightness is down, syncing is off when not needed, not using it much because I have classes, so I don't know what's happening...
Anyone else have this problem, or is it just me?
As far as all of your problems, I haven't experienced those... Yet. Haha.
well my wife got her first problem she got a FC from a wake up, and another was odd self rotation it would do on its own, jus recalibrated it and seems to work. the FC on HTC sense, seems the whole lock and Launcher FC but after that nothing else she gets MMS and sends MMS, Battery life is good on normal use, with extended use she does lot of browsing and facebok and browsing her phone lastes about 4/5 hours (this is constant browsing)

[Q] Epic 2.3 - Random daily lockups and very hot.

I have a Epic that I did the FroYo update to months ago. Now it seems that at least 3 times a day I notice my leg burning, letting me know that my phone is locked.
I know it's most likely some 3rd party application on the phone but can anyone let me know how I can debug the problem rather then reset the device to factory? I also want to be able to let whatever developer of whatever app know whats up.
I also get the other random lockups where nothing will work but the bottom buttons will light up. both will happen on or off the charger.

Personally, I would start over. Wipe everything and reflash the rom. I reflashed the rom twice. The first time I had a few issues, the second time made the phone smoother. Also the second flash was with no wipe.

Since you are on Froyo (didn't say if you were rooted or not) you can run some apps like Spare Parts, OS Monitor or CPUSpy to see what is running. You can also go to Settings>applications>running services to see what is running and actually stop applications there. So if you check running services and see a third party app running that you are not using, stop it and see if the phone runs OK. Another thing you could try is to set all syncs to manual such as Facebook, Twitter, Google talk or +, email...applications trying to sync in a low signal area may cause excessive heat and the heat itself will cause FCs, freezes and reboots as the phone has a battery temp safety in it.

Camera Error - Cannot connect to camera.

Anyone else getting this error? After reading the two main errors seem to be faulty camera hardware and bar code scanning apps. I uninstalled my bar code scanner and the problem persists. There is a small dent next to my flash under the camera but this came with the phone and my camera worked for a while. Taking the battery out and putting it back in fixes the problem about half of the time, but only is good for one to two uses. I'm thinking of sending this in, but I'm waiting until the SGSII HD is out in case they offer to replace it with any phone. Wishful thinking, I know.
And here's the error:
Are you on the stock rom? I got that yesterday but a reboot fixed it.

Try doing a factory reset. Sometimes an app installed on the phone might screw up with a hardware's function. For example, I've always use Screebl Pro on my phone to let it control how my screen turns off. I decided to try their new Beta version. A few days later, I cannot seem to manually turn off my screen by pressing the power button. Every time I press the power button, the screen will come back on on its own. I can try up to 4-5 times before it eventually goes off. I though my phone finally broke as I tried uninstalling and reinstalling apps, changing settings here and there to no luck. I finally realized about the beta Screebl I had installed, and decided to disable it. The moment I did that, the phone was back to normal, no weird things happening to it.
So try doing a factory reset first before sending it back.
Strangely enough uninstalling Reconage has seemed to fix this. Can anyone else confirm it breaks your camera? The comments don't say it does so it must be something with the Nitro.
I get it too on cm7 all the damn time. I can record 1 video then after I stop, it messes up and I have to reboot to record again.
Any more definitive answer on this issue? My wife's Nitro HD has started giving this error in the last few days and no amount of rebooting seems to be fixing it. She is stock plus a few apps. I uninstalled nearly everything that uses the camera, reboot the phone, and still have the problem.
Alternatively, is there a way to see what apps were installed/updated by date? The last photo she took was on 6/13, so if we can figure out what apps have been updated since then that might help us get to the bottom of the issue.

HTC One X Messaging Issues

Hi guys, this problem just started to occur. I heard a notification sound from my phone which should have been the email tone but I was busy so i didn't check it. I noticed the sound was a little cut off at the end though. Then almost immediately afterwards, I got the sound for a new SMS. Then I checked my phone but I couldn't see any emails from before although there was a new SMS. When I tried to open the message, it would go into the Messaging app but then it would get stuck on a loading screen when I try to actually enter the message. When I go back to the main messaging screen, I can still see all my past messages, but each time I try to go into one, it'd get stuck on the loading screen. Eventually after maybe 3 minutes it finally went into the newest message i got, but when i tried to send a reply it would act like nothing's happened. The message i typed just disappeared. When I went back to the main messaging screen, I was able to see my message in the previews, but when i go back into that conversation, it would be stuck on the loading screen and now nothing is loading. This is really annoying. I haven't really used my phone in the last 6 hours and before that everything worked perfectly.
On another note, I'm noticing that during the night, my phone uses up about 30% of the battery just on idle. I have wi-fi turned on but is this normal? I only slept for 6 hours...by the way, the battery charging all seemed normal before but now I just plugged in my phone about 1.5 hours ago and it's only increased by about 3 percent...
My phone is not rooted and has been updated recently to the latest version. I also have Lookout Security installed. Any help would really be appreciated!
Update: I just noticed that my phone was blinking red and green one after another. After checking it seems to indicated that it's because it is overheating so i've now disconnected the charger and turned it off. But i can't think why it would be overheating. It's placed on a wooden table away from sunlight and any heat sources and like i mentioned earlier, I haven't really touched it in the last 6 hours so I was definitely not using anything intensive.
Did restarting fix the messaging problem ?
What apps have the highest % for battery use ?
Well, your phone probably was doing something intensive.
Maybe your antivirus was upset by the email or message.
@PhoenixFx: Yeah i did restart the phone which didn't help. I even turned the phone off for 30 minutes which cooled it down but as soon as i turned it back on, it started to get hot again. Whilst it was turned off i had it charging and then when it came back on i noticed the battery percentage increased much more so the battery was definitely fine. The process which used the most power was Viber which was at 9%, there were a couple of other processes but they were all under 5%. I even uninstalled Viber which didn't help. Looking at all the processes that were running, I couldn't see anything that was abnormal.

That could be but I don't see why it would. The message was just a regular text message.
Anyways, I have now done a factory reset and it seems to be fine again. But if anyone has ever come across this or know the solution, please let us know so if it happens again, I'll know what to do and it would also help others who experiences the same thing. By the way, how much SHOULD the battery drain overnight with the wifi turned on?
You may have gotten a virus. I got a gmail virus that wiped a lot of my emails and wouldnt let me receive. I know this is about messaging but they are made by google so it is a possibility. I suggest a full restore and to run a virus scan with one of the play store's antiviruses.

I had the same problem with the messages. They wouldn't open or they would take a lifetime to load and open. Resetting and **** wouldnt work so I did a re-install of my ROM, wouldnt work, so I did factory wipe and started fresh. So far so good.

Yeah I'm not having any issues so far. Of course, it could've been a virus but I scanned my phone regularly with Lookout and also when it happened. Very weird. Anyways, if it happens again, I'll post back. Certainly hope not, this was the second time in a month I had to do a factory reset (last time was when I updated to Sense 4.1 and for some reason it wiped my phone and didn't even do the update. I had to make it download the update again for it to install...)
Ok, it's just happened again. First i heard the notification sound for an email, but then when i turned on the screen, i couldn't see any notifications. Now when i go into my SMS, they take forever (literally) to load. This is really getting pathetic. The amount of problems i've had with this phone, not to mention the constant "loading" screen when i press the home key. FFS, i never had this many problems with my old iPhone 3GS.
Update: I've just done a scan with AVG and Lookout and both turned up nothing. Most likely that this is not a virus related issue then.
this is happening on the stock 2.17 firmware also
no notifications, if you look in the messaging app, new messages are there
i cant understand how htc cant fix this? its been present from 1.28 fw

a gmail virus? care to explain a bit more, like the name of it etc? i did have some problems where it wouldn't sync with the latest version but is now working ok..
If you text a hell of a lot like I do then the problem is the phone is trying to load all of the message threads as fast as possible. Which uses a **** ton of your RAM, hence the 3 minute wait. I current have the HTC one x+ but the phones are basically the same. Here's what i did for the same exact issues.
For constant overheating:
1.Let your phone die.
2.Put your phone in your freezer and let it sit for a few minutes until its pretty cold.
3.Fully charge your phone
4.If you havnt already done so, download the latest update for your phone
5.Turn on and keep the battery saver option on. You do not have to keep the brightness low though
For messaging issues:
Go in your messages and delete all of your old threads to people whom you no longer converse with.

Phone randomly reboots

I've been having issues with random reboots going all the way back to when the T-Mobile variant for the G3 received Lollipop. The day I upgraded to Lollipop I started having the text for the app icon/folder at the top right corner of the screen stretch to the bottom and that side of the screen was useless. A few hours later my phone started to randomly reboot. Battery life has also taken a big hit. I'm not sure if it's because Juice Defender is no longer working for me or not. Not long ago I got the demigod error on that phone. I sent it for the warranty and the replacement has been doing the same other than the issue with the text for the app icon/folder. I get random reboots and the battery life is bad enough that I have to have a power block with me everywhere I go.
I've looked online and it seems like it's the battery, but I'm on my 2nd battery with the same phone and it's still doing it. So it's 2 phones and 2 batteries. Unless I just happened to have 2 batteries that are bad I don't think that's the issue. I've read to change the runtime to Dalvik, but I can't find this in Developer options. I've also uninstalled the updates for Android System Webview after reading that, that could be the issue.
I've read that it's because of the Lollipop memory leak. I'm on version 5.0.1 so if that's the issue is there a way to fix it without root?
Does anyone know of anything else that can be done to fix the issue? The phone is not rooted and as long as I have had it has not been rooted.
