Ok so my phones brick state isnt normal and doesnt fit either of the recovery threads
This is what happened
2 months ago i ordered a xperia ion display since mine was broken
so i had disassmebled the phone and kept the parts apart
now after 2 months i got my display and i reassembled my phone
But now the phone wont boot up
or Respond to power+vol up,power+vol down
so i charged for 16 hours and got red led and then it disappered
Then i used rubber band trick and tried flashtool for 6 hours but still no flashmode
Red led comes and goes
Even on wall charger
What can be the problem
Btw this is not my first itme nor am i a noob
Had recovered soft brick by rubber band trick 2-3 times
But this time no bootloop, just a red led and even that disappears

Oh mann!! You hard bricked your phone.
I was waiting for your builds but couldnt coz you bricked it. Its not usaul to search in Q&A.
I think you will have to wait till the the phone charges fully and you green led light. After this you can connect with flashboot (green led) and flash the stock firmware. Don't go for fastboot (blue led)
This is what I do when I hard brick my phone. You have to charge it fully till green led lights up. It may take 36 to 50 hrs. Just keep it in charge.
Hope you recover this fast. We want to enjoy custom ROMs from you.
And if u want to ask something then pm me. Its difficult to find and reply to in q&a thread.

Oh ok. Seems you have tried your best. But I don't know how much hrs you have kept it but it takes a very very long time, that's my personal experience.
Then too I am writing this if you haven't yet considered this.
Actually the phone will get green LEDs when it charges above 90%(you know) And since its hard bricked the charging a damn damn slow. You have to wait till its turns green if you want to connect in flashmode. Otherwise it won't.
You will just end up getting red led and it will go away.
Mine always takes around 40hrs minimum to get that green led. You just have to charge it continuously. Just plug in on charges and forget it.

Are you kidding me?! How does this story end? Did you resolve this? How?
This thread comes up on searches, yet NO resolution! Seriously?!
I think I have the same problem here. I already searched everywhere and I'm loosing my hopes. I'm trying to revive a Xperia Ion and this is what I get:
When I plug the phone in the wall charger the red led turns on for some minutes and then turns off, no green leds, my phone was in charger for months, changed charger and cable.
The same happens when I plug on PC, when the led turns off it is detected as "Somc flash device" in windows device manager and this shows in flashtool:
INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off
INFO - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
Nothing changes if I plug in pc with volume + or - pressed, it don't goes into fastboot or flashmode.
I hope you could help me. Thanks

Hi guys, this is sort of a last resort thing and I've read the thread with "Xperia Ion bricked. Any fix?".
Basically, I was doing the battery callibration (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1760207&highlight=battery) and so did the power + volume up button. I did this around 3 times as it went from 95% to 98% then I was expecting it to go up but it stayed at 98% so I decided to do it once more. However, instead of usually vibrating, the screen just instantly went off. Tried to power up but it didn't work. Took it off from the charger and tried all button combinations (power + volume up/down) and still to no avail.
Then I put it in the wall charger again and the LED seems to have a faint orange light coming when charging so I know it's actually charging... Then I thought it may be possible that for some reason, the battery is drained and followed the "Xperia Ion bricked. Any fix?" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771106. After around 15 minutes, the faint orange LED vanished and so I took it off the charger, did the button combinations again and didn't do anything. I put it back in the charger and see the faint orange LED...
Now it's just charging and I don't know what to do Is my beloved Ion bricked? I just got it a month ago :crying: what should I do with it?
Tried plugging it in the computer and PC Companion didn't see my device
Also I live in the UK and I got the phone from Indonesia... It still has a years guarantee but I can't go spend £500 for a ticket just to fix my phone
I'm extremely desperate, please help!
Hold power + volume up wait for one vibrate, keep holding both you should then get three vibrates in a row now turn it on normally, mine kinda did the same thing and I did this

At worst you will need to follow the Soft Brick Steps thread instructions.

Is the phone on? Meaning it's using power in some way (led on, screen is black but on, button lights stay on)? If so you may need to drain the battery, if the reset trick isn't working. Once the battery is dead (this can take up to 24 hours) and it shuts off, try charging it. Do not turn it on till it's charged more than halfway.

Thanks for replying uchiha but I've put the phone on charge overnight which was like 8 hours and the light just goes. I'm still having this problem. I wish I could go to the sony store but I can't cause the Ion doesn't and will not come out in the UK and they have no parts for it. The ion battery CAN'T be remove no matter what...and to TS,if your phone still can't be turn on,try to let the battery completely drain, and leave it like that for 1 hour, and after that try to charge back...
I afraid your phone thought it was 'on' but the screen is 'off' like my old x10 Mini Pro which when I turn on,it vibrate and on (yep, alive) but the screen is black BUT I can feel the touch and the vibration of the phone. To fix the problem,I remove my phone battery for 10 minutes and turn it on again, after that it works perfectly...

Hello,
My Xperia S which I bought in August 2012 doesn't boot anymore. A few weeks after I bought it, I unlocked the Bootlader and installed custom Kernels and ROMs and it worked fine all the time. I was on KA 22.1 SSpeed and Advanced Stock 17 and wanted to try something else, so I installed XZXperience 2 and the Elite V2-Kernel.
Well, after that, the phone worked fine but I noticed some heavy battery drain. Charging took waaay longer than usual (full charge about 4 hours with the plug) and the drain was immense. BetterBatteryStats showed me a Deep Sleep of 98 % while I lost about 15 % of battery life in ONE hour, that can't be somehow. The phone however worked still fine.
So I decided to flash the Advanced Stock Kernel again but the drain didn't stop, it was as before. I thought that the Battery Stats are maybe corrupted, so I let the phone discharge itself completely (didn't take long) and wanted to charge it fully. When I plugged in the charging cable, the first unusual thing was, that the red light appeared instantly upon connecting. Normally it would take a second or so. The second thing is, there was no logo, no battery symbol, just nothing but the red light when I plugged the cable in.
I slept a night and after I woke up, I disconnected the cable and wanted to start the phone, but nothing happened. Still, the only thing the phone does, is lighting red, when it's plugged in. Fastboot or Flash-Mode don't work, the computer doesn't recognize anything.
So...what to do? it appeared after I flashed the new ROM and Kernel, but I don't think it has something to do with them...the drain was also there with the Advanced Stock Kernel. Although I must say, that I often had flashing errors, often the device said something like:
format_volume make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk1p2
To me, it looks like the battery has a deep discharge and is dead, but I don't know, what could I probably do before sending it in? If the battery is dead the warranty should still be there, even with the unlocked bootlader, am I right?
Best regards
when you power on your phone what happen?

You could open the phone and disconnect the battery, or let the phone sit long enough for it the battery to die.
This will reset the phone.
Only problem is how long to let the battery die, as there is no way to tell.
Once the phone resets make flashtool ready to flash just the kernel, and use a rubber band to hold the volume down button in.
With flashtool waiting and button pressed plug in to PC.
It should give red led for about 10 minutes then flash.
You can read more tips & tricks in the RECOVERY thread in my signature.

Well, the incident happened a few weeks ago and after I charged it over night and it didn't work, I left it there for nearly two weeks and nothing has changed so far. In your post, you said, that you had to wait for 51 hours until your battery died but two weeks is quite long I think...
What do you suggest? I think, I'll send it in, if the battery is broken, the warranty should cover it.

Simple fix I think. This has worked for Xperia S and Xperia U. Both phone i brought as "DAMAGED". LOL. Battery is toooooo dead for the phone to detect it..... Use a wall charger to charge the battery up . I used a charger off ebay ($2 including post) that was for a Galaxy I9000 battery (old phone) and used wires and taped them to the battery..... Didn't even need to fully charge it! just like a jump start sort of thing...
Came up with the idea as at work we have to "jumpstart" car batteries to trick the charger into charging them
If you have a DC power source that puts out 4.2v at 350mA +/- 50mA then TRY IT and please let me know.
Stifilz
Well, I have a lithium charger for round-type-batteries, but we're talking about lithium here and if the battery is really damaged, it could be quite dangerous to charge it. The output of the charger is 1A, too, quite a bit higher.
I tried a last thing and took the battery out but it still only shows a red light while charging, so I'm going to try to send it in.
R: Xperia S dead?
IT happened The same for Me...
I was very worried..
I plugged to charge for 21h... Unplugged but Nothing!!
So i replugged iT and watched for 1H.. Suddenly IT Booted(But opened only logo Sony And Crashed!) So i Tried to unplugg and power on the phone but nothing.. No booted!!
So after 25m iT rebooted and like a furet i dropped my phone from The table and like a crazy tried to go in recovery.. So it Gone in Recovery i've Wiped ALL And Reinstalled Fw-Kernel.
So now i'm using The Xperia S

Thank u sooooo much buddy..
i got enough knowledge by this link, but i tried different tweak method to get my phone back with help of this link which you suggested..
Hi, I have a One X which discharged to nothing on Saturday night/Sunday morning as I was in hospital and my wife was using it to call people.
I had a similar problem in June, once dead it won't take any charge, it won't power up normally and it won't boot up either with the volume down being pressed at the same time.
Nothing lights or flashes.
In June I sent it to O2 and it came back fixed, but I've had a conversation today to say the warranty is voided as I've rooted it.
They are saying that it needs a new main board as it is rooted. I kept explaining that I don't need a new board, just some charge to be put into the battery.
I do think that I've tried everything this time, and last, to get the phone started again without sending it away, but I'd appreciate advice on getting it up and running and how best to deal with O2, what arguments to use etc.
Many thanks

Just Plug it in With Official HTC Cable In A New PC which has USB 2 or greater port. Eventually after sometime you will c blinking red light. Once you get blinking red light pull out and plug it back in again after some time red led will become stable. at this point turn on the phone.
Once the OS loads again repeat Plug out Plug In USB Cable. It should now charge. If it stops charging repeat Plug out Plug again. Hope this helps.
I am doing this now and i have reached 12%. Hope this helps you

Any idea how long before this might show a red light?
Also, is this any different to leaving it plugged into a power lead?

Actually it should show the blinking red light after 20 appx minutes after charging. Then after few minutes it should get stable, and then you can powerup the device.

Ok, having taken it to a repairer I was told there was nothing wrong with the battery, charging unit etc, it was a complicated matter that they couldn't sort out.
Does anybody know of a reputable repairer who may be able to take a look please?
Many thanks.
Hello everyone,
So my friend borrowed my phone to take a selfie and returned it shortly afterwards(im giving this info because i cant say if it shut down while my friend was using it or while it was in ny pocket). I just put it in my pocket and after about 20 minutes i wanted to see the time and it wouldnt turn on.
I tried pressing only the power button and nothing, i tried power + vol+ it didnt work, waited to get home to recharge, put it on my charger and no led no nothing.
I am just wondering what could be the problem and is there a way to fix it? Is it the battery? Im asking to see if it is worth to spend money to repair it as i bought a new phone.
Also the water damage indicator on the back is pink but i have never exposed it to water. (That has been pink for over a month before it died).

Thanks for the reply I understand everything i have to do. Its just that this is my first time dealing with a hard brick and didnt know whether i could fix this myself or i should take it to repairs.
I have tried this method about a week ago and the led wouldnt glow and the phone wouldnt turn on. I have read now that i should charge it for 16+ hours and then try again.(first red LED then try)
Currently my laptop is in repairs, as soon as i get it back ill try the charging for 16+h method and the rubber band method.
I have root and unlocked bootloader so i dont have anything to worry about right?
I have been charging it for 44 hours and still no red LED. its still charging...

We you able to fix it?
Hello guys,
Wondering if you know what this issue could be. Basically, I had not used my xperia play for a few years and I wanted to try a few emulators on it now, so I tried to start it up and it worked twice, I could see the Sony logo and then it went onto a white screen (this is why I changed it on the 1st place and I think it'll need a Flex cable).
The problem is that after those 2 times, the mobile was vibrating when I tried to turn it on but nothing on the screen at all (not even the previous Sony logo I saw). I managed to plug the charger, get a static red light, which then turned orange and after like 10h that I checked again it was green.
I trid to start it up again, but still nothing. What's happening now is that as soon as I disconnected the charger when it was with the green light, when I connect the charger again it has a blinking red light that doesn't disappear (I've left it charging for hours but same light still there).
I tried to connect it to the computer, but I get a message of USB device not recognized, tried to udpate drivers for Xperia Play or someone mentioned some Zeus drivers, but still the computer cannot see it.
I was wondering if it'd be worth buying a new battery as well to see if this fixes the problem? What do you think? As mentioned, before the problem, I just saw it booting up correctly a couple of times and I didn't do anything afterwards...
Cheers
I could be wrong, but if the phone wasn't used for a few years, I would suspect your battery is part of the problem. I remember that I had an orange light and the phone wouldn't boot for me either when my battery was bad. I bought Hyperion batteries and the phone has worked great since.
As far as the phone not being recognized... I'm not sure. I would probably try uninstalling all Sony related drivers, then reboot the computer and reinstall them. Maybe see if you can get Flashtool to recognize the phone in Flashmode or FastBoot as well.
Do you think the computer should recognized the phone (xperia play in this case) even with a battery problem? for example, if the phone is switched off and the battery removed? (or does it need to be turned on?)
The phone definitely needs to be turned on to be recognized... either booted up normally or on fastboot mode, Flashmode, etc.... I can't remember if it will work in Flashmode or fastboot without the battery inserted... but I'm thinking it won't. I'm at work, but if I get some time to try it out tonight, I will report back.
If you could have a quick look at some point (no rush), out of curiosity, to see what happens if you try to connect it to the PC without the battery? I was thinking that it might be recognizable (as there's power coming in from the USB cable), however in my case I keep on getting the red blinking light when I plug it to the PC without the battery as well and I get the message saying that the device has not been recognized.
I've ordered a new battery anyway to see how it goes. I will learn something from the experience whether it finally ends up working or not...
Cheers!

Ok. I did some testing and you definitely need to have the battery inserted for fastboot mode or Flashmode to work. There is no response from the phone or the computer when only plugged in with the usb cable (and no battery) while holding back button or search button.
If your battery is bad (like we suspect after not using the phone for a few years)....then hopefully you'll be able to get into Flashmode/FastBoot again once you get your new battery.
As far as the screen turning white... it sounds like you're probably correct with thinking something could be wrong with your slider /flex cable.... but that's hard to know for sure. When my friend's flex cable was bad, it started out with lines through the screen and eventually had a strange textured grey/white appearance when the cable finally went completely out.
Just quick update for future reference in case someone faces a similar problem.
The red blinking light when trying to charge the mobile with an old battery was caused by the battery being faulty after a long period without use. I ordered a new one and as soon as I plugged it in to the charger, the light became orange (rather than red) and a little while later green.
Even with the battery charged, I had the problem that I couldn't see anything at all on the screen. The mobile vibrated when being switched on but then just a black screen. It turned out to be the 'flex cable'. It was totally knackered. Replaced with a new one and all working as well now.
Cheers!!
