[Q] [t0lte / Note 2 LTE / 7105 ) TouchWiz based roms... - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Which one would you recommend? Which one is still updated?
(I have tried to use the CM/AOSP mods, but they all suffer from low volume issues.
A kind user informed that none of the workaround methods work to raise the volume and that there is no fix for the situation. (while I really loved the CM and L based roms.))
Thank you.

I did try to install SlimWiz Colors now, but it says "Insert sim card."

[Q] Ace II ROMs -> Ace II x compatibility?

Hi there!
Do anyone know if ROMs cooked for Ace II would work on Ace IIx (GT-s7560M) and, in consequence, on Galaxy Trend (GT-s7560)?
I'm asking because due to the low popularity od Trend, I can choose from stock TouchWiz ICS and this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292696, which is also ICS and that doesn't satisfy me. As I can see, there are lots of JB ROMs for Ace II, hence the question.
Thank you for your answers
No. I see cm10.1(or 10.2, whatever) for ace 2x, thats android 4.2(jb) why not use that
Sent from my GT-I8160 using Tapatalk
Unfortunately, it's not that easy. You could attempt to port a ROM from the Ace 2, but it wouldn't be bugfree. Getting it booted would be a feat. Like the previous commentor said, there is a CM10.2 and CM11 (JB and KK ROMs) ROM for the Ace II X, though it isn't completely bug free. You could also try my Mod Pack (link in my sig) for the stock ICS ROM. The next update will include some AOSP ICS themed visuals, so it'll make stock ROM feel more AOSP and less Samsung-y.
Well, I haven't noticed at first, there's even 4.3 ROM cooked for Ace IIx ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2518416&highlight=ace+iix ), thanks for hints.
I'll try to set it up and running later today and confirm if it does the trick on Trend.

AFAIK, YoshiShaPow's Slimbean doesn't work. Bootloops. If you want a good ROM (and pretty much the only real custom ROM), try SeannyM's CM builds. There's 10.2 and 11 (Android 4.3 Jellybean and 4.4 Kitkat). All the source built ROMs for the Ace II X are currently buggy. There in his signature here. They'll definitely work with the Trend, but I'm not sure about RIL compatibility with the Trend. If it doesn't work, you can try flashing the Ace II X 'MG2 firmware from Sammobile with Odin, then installing CM.
For future seekers:
Well, after hours of flashing, wiping and testing, it's CM 10.2 ported by SeannyM which appears the best ROM for Galaxy Trend (originally meant for Ace IIx), CM11 has less features, ART doesn't work like it should and it's too buggy tu use so far. 10.2 has a couple of bugs but it's definitely usable as a daily driver. The most gear-grinding bugs are:
WiFi (either you have it turned on all the time or after turning it off you have to turn it on back again and reboot your device, otherwise it won't connect to any network saying 'authentication problem occurred'. That can also be a RIL issue with my device, as you've stated above),
Bluetooth, which simply doesn't work yet
Camera - you can just download any other camera app from play or whatever.
Some may also consider message which shows up after entering PIN ("a SIM card has been detected; reboot your device to install it" or something like that) a problem. You just bypass it by pressing 'back' button and everything's fine.
I use it with JB gapps and 1208MHz kernel, both also got to work by SeannyM, he has links to download all of them goodies in his signature.
Thanks for all the hints
I recently bought an Ace IIx, I quickly found out that it is different from the Ace II and there are less custom rom available. I would flash CM10.2 but I need bluetooth in my car, so I can't use CM10.2 until bluetooth is fixed.
For now, I'm running Daver's MG2 deodexed stock rom and I added a few tweaks (patched services.jar, installed busybox and enabled init.d support). Now, I would like to know if there are some init.d scripts available to improve performance?
Hello.
I have a Galaxy trend s7560
Root is working and cwm 5.x
Also. I flashed cm11 Android 4.4
On it from the Ace 2x.
This is working fine.

[Q] CM11 ROM question

I have a TMobile Note 3 with 4.3 rooted using RDLV with KNOX 0x0. I am tired of the stock ROM and I want to switch to CM11. Here are my questions:
1) What's the difference between hlte and htletmo versions?
2) Can I use the htle version since it is being updated more often?
2) I came to Note 3 from an S3. It looks like there were more CM stable versions for S3 and Note 3 only ever has had night-lies..why is that?
3) With reference to the question above, How will that affect development of future versions of CM?
4) Will T Mobile's wifi calling work with CM11?
5) If not, which ROM would it work with and is it safe to use that ROM?
6) Which is the most maintained/updated/used ROM for Note 3 apart from CM11?
Thanks
PS: I have gone through the forums to the best of my abilities to find answers. Please forgive me if I missed one and don't forget to point me to the thread with the answer

I've been pouring through various forums concerning the hlte and hltexx, etc stuff. and have found no definitive answers either..
I'm new to the note as well coming from a string of other devices, honestly this stuff is kind of a headache.
I still haven't found anything very useful.. but what i've gathered is that hltexx seems to be the most common thing across ROMs that should work on our tmo variant..
but if you read this: http://www.cyanogenmod.org/blog/unified-builds you'll see that we will have to flash hlte versions, at least for CM.
Seeing as you want to flash CM, you'll probably be okay flashing the hlte version.
I have no idea if that's a CM specific thing or if it's being adopted across the board by various devs..
it seems that no matter what you do, it might require editing out the device check line from the updater-script,
just like from some ROMs for the S3 (haven't used that phone in a long time, though, so don't think that's a current issue, anymore.)
aside from that, I can't answer any of your other questions, as I haven't flashed any custom ROMs for this device, yet.
but, if this phone is like any other tmo phone, you'll lose wi-fi calling if you switch to any ROM that is NOT based on the stock ROM that was shipped with the device.
i.e. no AOSP or CM based ROM will have wi-fi calling. there are always alternatives to wi-fi calling though.
Thanks for the answer.

1) HLTETMO are the old non-unified builds. HLTE builds are "unified," and will work across networks, as far as I understand it. What this does is get more developers on the project for everybody since these devices--aside from very minor differences (I'd imagine the RIL, but I could be wrong) between Note3 devices.
2) Yes. Use the HLTE version. I'm pretty sure HLTETMO is dead...and that's a good thing. Things were a little buggier at first for the unified builds, but, they have gotten much better much faster and are currently better than the last TMO builds.
2) See above
3) See above...I can only speculate but I imagine that will concentrate the developer pool that works on devices. Instead of 4 (or more) disparate HLTE (or whatever device) teams of devs they will now all work together. That can only help things along. Again, only speculation. Time will tell.
4) I, personally, don't care about that feature but I do recall seeing some HOWTOs on WiFi calling on CM. But I highly doubt that will ever become a part of the build. That's not a concern of CM. They have enough things to worry about.
5) I'm an AOSP only kinda guy so I don't actually know, but, I'd imagine any TW based ROM will work fine with WiFi calling.
6) See #5. I wish I could help you out on this one, but, I can't. I'm an AOSP only kinda guy. The first thing I did when I got my $700+ phone home was invalidate the warranty. Knox? Pffft, whatever. Right now I can assure you that CM11 is in a highly developed form. It is daily driver status, IMHO. All the major stuff works and works well...and performance is top notch...especially with the ART (Android Run Time....screw Dalvik). Battery life isn't as good as TW roms, but, it isn't far off. The only thing missing is S-Pen features, but, there is another thread around here that gives you step-by-step instructions on how to recreate the utility of the stock S-Pen features.

Hmmm, what (customized) Rom version are you using? I still have two DI2 - retired from CDMA duties but running GSM on Sense-based GB ROM and they are working nicely for our needs. One is on T-Mo USA network and the other is on AT&T network.
Have you tried a different GSM ROM at all? Some of the newer 4.x ROM are nice & cool but not ready as a daily, IMO.

Actually i'm using Pac-Rom 4.2.2 from chilly, the thread says that 4.2.2 are suitable for daily use, the phone is working nice but i dont have signal bars (i can recieve and make calls, send and recieve messeges) i tried some patch and other GSM tweaks, using the Stock (or any Stock Based Rom) is working completely fine but i cant stand Sense even the 4.0.4 leaked Rom works fine i haven´t tried another ICS Rom.
another detail using the *#*#4636#*#* menu the radio turns on and off if i try to set the APN.
thread of the Rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2049902
Both VZW and HTC dropped the balls in supporting the Incredible 2, leaving it behind the times in GingerBread land, and some of the most active & best XDA-developers have since moved onto other devices for their primary daily use.
We are no longer on VZW or CDMA and switched to Nexus 5's running latest KitKat - but, since we still got two DI2 in relatively near new conditions, I continue to play around with them with GSM carriers.
There are a few stable & solid 4.x custom/ported rom that run nicely on DI2 and they are a good match for GSM services - the newest ones released recently/this month are in alpha/beta stages and not solid/stable enough. If you are having issues with yours, I suggest switching to & trying a different one instead - there's nothing wrong with Sense Rom and if it works, that's all that matter for me.
Try this one, works for me - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291476

Not that I know of & I certainly don't recall discussions about it, way ahead of its time or arrival then in 2011-2012. Maybe the Jelly Bean ones could - to play with Xposed, I run back to our Nexus 5 and they are great for customization on our custom Rom.

[Q] Looking for the right 4.3 and/or 4.4 ROM

Hi, a nearly noob question.
I have Galaxy S33 T999L with SlimKat, android 4.4.4, baseband AMB7, but I believe it doesn't have Wifi calling. I use Teamwin v2.8.4.0 recovery.
I am looking for any good stable ROMs that are:
1. Android 4.3 or 4.4 with 4.4 preferred
2. Wifi calling build-in
3. App Ops provided, OPTIONAL, (for permission control on apps)
4. As lean as possible, but useful features are welcome
Some of the threads are over 3 pages here I did jump thru a few, still kind of lost since these threads started in 2012.
This is my back up phone returning from a loan to a friend. I am not using it now (no SIM inside), just trying to UP this phone before I can reuse it again (Been using Avant for a few months now).
I would appreciate anyone can post a link, or share some advice on which ROMs you would recommend. Many thanks,

For wifi calling to work you will need to stick to stock based ROMs so eliminate all others and then try out a couple of those to see if they have what you are looking for.

[Q] What ROM to use?

Hi! I just recently got a Galaxy S3 t999 to replace my old phone. It came with Jellybean 4.3 so I had some problems unlocking the SIM. Anyways, I want to install another ROM since I don't really like the one it came with (for some reason some apps keep crashing). I've been checking on the ROMs on this forum and there are many, so many in fact idk what to pick. I just want three things from my ROM:
1. To keep the "screen mirroring" function.
2. To avoid locking my SIM again (I don't really know if flashing a ROM can affect that, which is why I am asking).
3. A somewhat stable release. I don't really plan on getting experimental with my phone, I just want it working properly.
Which one would you recommend based on those points? I hope someone can answer my question and thank you for your time!
