[Q] Kodi Home Button Keymap Possible? - Fire TV Themes and Apps

I have Kodi as my launcher with an alternate keymap setup, if I am in another app the Home button on the remote takes me to the Kodi Home screen. Is it possible make the Home button on the remote take me to the home screen of Kodi from anywhere?
Example: I am folders deep into a TV show (TV/Show/Season/Epsiodes) and want to use a single Home press to get me back to the Kodi home screen without pressing back multiple times.

Try to long press the Back button on the AFTV remote as it should take you to the home screen within Kodi. Alternatively, the Escape key on a keyboard would do it with one key press.

Ouya Dead Trigger HowTo Setup 2

There are lots of install instructions for Dead Trigger such as:
http://ouyaforum.com/showthread.php?4069-Dead-Trigger-on-OUYA-(How-to-install)
And more detailed:
http://ouyaforum.com/showthread.php?4107-Sideloading-Dead-Trigger-A-tutorial/
But they miss a couple of important points that took me almost an hour to figure out.
First, the game jumps right into the tutorial mission one and never gives you a chance to configure the game controller. I found two ways to pause the game and open the configuration menu for the game pad.
One, simply plug in a USB keyboard into your Ouya and press the Esc key. I also saw notes that a PS3 remote would do the job but I don't own one of these.
Two, while the game is running put the Ouya into sleep mode by pressing the power button on top of the Ouya once (*not* a long press.) When you wake your Ouya Dead Trigger will be at the pause menu and you can select setup with the touch pad.
The next problem was assigning buttons in the configure game pad screen. This took me forever to figure out. When assigning buttons, hold down the button you want to assign, move the mouse pointer over the assignment square and click (tap the touchpad.) Hold down the button you want the entire time. Don't forget to make use of the two axis buttons on the two joysticks.

Yes I'm late to the party but your explanation of button mapping saved me pulling out my hair!
Will the app save your place and settings without being able to connect to the server? Mine will not connect

How to map long press for Kodi?

Long story short I have an add-on that you have to long press the select button to bring up alternate sources and it doesn't work for me using a kodi remote. I have to use Yatste on my cell phone and hold the middle select button for 3 secs which is annoying to have to grab my phone everytime i want to bring up alternate sources.
What is the command to map long press the select button?
Thanks

Stream running in background / sleep mode

I have set up some fire tv sticks (stock, non-root) with the latest kodi + llama and IP TV. Works pretty well so far. But there is a big problem: often the streams keep running if accidentally the home button is pressed and the fire tv stick got back to homescreen. Even if you put the stick manually in "sleep mode" the stream keeps running in the background (you can her the audio on the tv speaker). How can I fix this?
You could try to set up a Llama rule: when KODI is running and HOME button is pressed then kill KODI.
Well, how to set it up in llama to detect home button press?
Try the following (LLama starts in german on my devices so my translation may not be exact but the meaning should be clear ):
1.) create a new Llama rule
2.) set a new condition for "KODI" but change the default value "is started or in foreground" to "is quit or in background"
3.) kill application "KODI"
What should happen here: as long as KODI runs regulary nothing because it is still in foreground but when the HOME button is pressed KODI should go to the background and here the Llama condition 2.) should be triggered and Llama has to 3.) kill KODI.
thanks for sharing your idea. I set up llama according to your suggestion but unfortunately it not work. The stream is still running in the background, even when you put the fire tv stick manually in sleep mode you can still hear the audio.
If you hold down the home button long enough from the amazon home screen, you'll get option to go to settings>applications>manage applications>kodi>force stop.

Well that works but pretty complicated and I am sure my kids won't do that always before they shut off tv.
I observed that on a Fire TV that problem not arises. But on the FTV stick it does. Something must be different with the sleep mode.
In firestarter go to settings and under "home button single click application" select "no action". It worked for me on a stick and fire tv. Ususally its set to FireTV home. I was able to replicate your issue on a stick and fire tv and setting the home button single click application to no action in the firestarter setting worked for me. But keep in mind that kodi will still be running in the background as its only paused. So if you double click home button from the amazon home screen you'll just go back to kodi on a paused screen. Kodi should always be turned off using it's power button or force closed from amazon app settings.

How to scroll down page in ES Explorer on fire tv stick without a mouse....

I'm using Es Explorer on fire tv stick and after I click analyze, the results page appears and it will not let me scroll down the page. Anyone know how to do this without a mouse/keyboard?
I am having the same problem, I can't scroll down. I have tried to leave a comment on the android website but I don't think it has worked. I have pressed every button on the controller but nothing has worked.
You can link a BT mouse. You can link a Logitech K400 or K600 keyboard. You can install a phone TouchPad that will let you scroll, tap, and click.
Try mouse toggle for fire TV app...... I've installed this and it gives you freedom to use the fire TV remote as a mouse......
Double click the play/ pause button brings up a round cursor you move around screen using the d-pad and select by clicking center of d-pad.
You can scroll up and down by holding center of d-pad and press either up or down of the d-pad.

set up fire tv stick without a remote

I have been using Fire TV Stick with remote on my android phone. I reset the stick to factory default as I felt it was running a bit slow. After the reset, it is asking me to press Home button on the remote. I have not used the actual remote in a long time as I always use the app to control. Now, it is not responding to remote even after I changed 3 different sets of new remote batteries. On the app, it can not find the Fire TV Stick.
Any ideas, please?
SOLVED:
needed to reset the remote by holding Menu (three lines)+ Back (the one to the left of home button) + left arrow (on navigation circle) for 10 seconds. Then disconnect the power from Fire TV stick for 30 seconds and then restart.
