[Q] Possibly stupid NANDROID question... - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay, so I'm a Samsung Note 3 owner that's helping out a guy to unscrew his AT&T M8. We're trying to return to nandroid stock using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2701376, and I'm at the step where it says to flash the nandroid .zip file in TWRP. This is all fine and dandy, but even though it's located in the TWRP/backups folder, and apparently it's the correct nandroid version, it FAILS immediately. Maybe I got the wrong version??? I've googled around, but I can't seem to get the right info on this one!
Any and all help would be appreciated!!!:good:

Read that thread thoroughly ...
You don't flash the nandroid.zip
You extract the nandroid.zip and transfer the content to TWRP backup folder.
Anyway ... browse thru AT&T forum, you should be able to find the correct RUU
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-htc-one-m8/general

No RUU will flash!!!! No main version shown in RUU utility...

I have tried a few newer RUU's since I'm on 3.16 bootloader and S-ON. When I go to flash using the RUU utility, it doesn't show any installed rom...because there IS no installed ROM!
Therefore, it fails. As you can see below...there is nothing showing in version-main. Any idea on how to fix this??? The phone isn't bricked...there's just no rom installed. Should I use TWRP instead???

You have 4.4.2 firmware. The reason ViperOne caused you problems is because you need updated firmware.
You'll need to find an AT&T RUU. You'll also have to re-lock your bootloader before running it. It also will have to be a signed RUU. All three of these things are because you are S-On.
You could also download ViperOne 1.x.x (a 4.4.2 base), put that onto your extSD, and flash that as normal in recovery. It will get you back running, and is a compatible version of ViperOne for your phone.
You can download ViperOneM8 1.7.1 from this link.

I tried doing fastboot oem lock....no luck. Any ideas? Is CWS__001 the correct CID for AT&T M8?

It didn't work? That's weird. Does it show "unlocked" in your bootloader?
And yes it is the correct CID. I wondered why you asked, then saw saw your signature. I knew AT&T because of you being in the US and your CID.
Never mind. I figured it out on my own.

No OS. Stuck on Bootscreen VODAP001

Hi Guys,
I made a mistake of formatting my phone from TWRP. NowI am stuck on bootloop. I am S-ON.
I can get into TWRP or fastboot but I don't know what to do from there.
I read around that I could do a sideload but I don't know what file to use.
I could not find any RUU files for my CID.
Please help salvage my phone.
The dump of my getvar all is here:

Load ROM onto external SD card and insert. From TWRP mount extSD, then install ROM from there.

[Q] Flashing the latest SD 10.1 on an outdated M8

Hello
My friend's device has had the same ROM since she got the phone (Viperone M8 v1.8) which is really old! I was thinking of just flashing the latest TWRP recovery using fastboot and then installing SkyDragon v10.1, so would that be possible or do I have to flash the latest firmware as well? And if so, does the device HAVE to be S-OFF? When I was running a custom ROM and wanted to go S-OFF in the past, it was a huge hassle and it took me a lot of time to finally get it to work and I don't even remember the process or want to go through it again, unless there's an easier (non-paid) way nowadays.
Thanks guys!
I tried flashing the latest TWRP recovery but it didn't work:

Any ideas?
Return to stock rom + stock recovery, update the phone with official OTA and then flash custom roms. Written everywhere around and check the stickied threads in the general. Fairly easy.....you are around for a while to know how this forum works. And stop spamming the serial and imei around in your posts, delete them ! They don't belong on the www they are private !
And here are backups
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
Took me 1 minute......
Edit :
Ow to be clear, restore the 1.54 orang001 cid backup and check for ota. Download it but apply it later. Then take out the recovery from the ota zip and flash it. Then you have the stock recovery and are able to apply the actual ota's (yes there will be multiple)
Thank you for your reply. I've never really had a branded device before so that was the struggle. The device is my colleague's, therefore I'm trying to be as cautious as possible. The thread you linked me to apparently contains a zip backup of stock firmware for the same cid so that's pretty awesome, however I cannot find the appropriate recovery img from the ones listed. Any ideas where I can find one? I'm having a difficult time finding things for ORANG001 on the forum.

Read Post #3 of the previously linked thread, under "Questions & Answer" and read the 2nd to last Q/A.
Any 1.54.xx stock recovery will work.
Thank you so much for your help, I truly appreciate it and I cannot wait to try this. Have a great day!!

Softbrick HTC ONE M8s

Hi,
I was trying to flash my HTC ONE M8s but was unsuccessful. I wasn't aware that only a certain ROM could be used.
I am not exactly sure what I did but even the recovery partition is gone. Anytime I try to go into recovery or boot the phone it just goes to the htc logo screen. I have tried to flash a new recovery (TWRP) and (CWM). Fastboot tells me it has gone across ok but when I try to boot into recovery again I just get the htc logo screen.
I have tried to use ADB but it will not pick up my device. I don't think I enabled developer mode correctly before I started fooling around with the phone.
I unlocked the bootloader but still have S-ON. I have tried using RUU file for my model id but still nothing.
Is there any tools out there that I can use to totally wipe the phone clear and start fresh without having to send it back to HTC.
The reason I tried to flash it in the first place was that my camera stopped working after the update for Marshmallow came out. I asked HTC about it and they just wanted me to send it to them.
Their support is not very good!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also if this post is not in the right place feel free to move me on, this is my first time.

Correct bootloader state to install RUU would be locked or relocked (unless you have s-off, in which case any bootloader condition will work).
Since the RUU is stuck updating, I believe this usually means that security checks (bootloader locked, MID and CID check, etc.) are already passed. The RUU simply got stuck. If you haven't already done so, it should typically be okay to disconnect the phone, kill the process, etc. and start over again. A lot of times, simply trying the RUU again, will do that trick.
Otherwise, you may need to try another USB port on your PC, another cable, or even another PC. RUU can be quite finicky with the PC setup. It also must be a real PC (not emulated Mac, etc.).
If you also know how, please do fastboot getvar all, and post the output (delete IMEI and serial number before posting) so we can see the details on your phone. In some circumstances, how you determined the MID and CID may not actually be getting reported correctly (you didn't mention how you determined these, getvar all is the best and most accurate way).
Hello guys,
I have an HTC one m8 , I have been running a rooted device with custom rom which has been working terribly on my device...Now I want to return to stock rom, I have relocked bootloader and it's on s-on...I have tried out diverse RUU but all seems not working...I'm always getting this error in the process "rom update utility cannot update your andriod phone"" which i guess the ruu's have been using are not compatible with my phone...I would so much appreciate if anyone can get me the RUU executable file for my device that will be compatible with it........ Here is the fastboot getvar all details....Your prompt responses will be appreciated

Please don't post the same question to multiple threads. It won't get you help any faster, but will only confuse you and those trying to help you. I posted help in one of the other threads you posted in. Go figure out which one. Now you get it?
