the xml files for the stock kitkat versions put the phone in bootloop. is there a way to edit camera quality?
i'm on cloudy g3 2.1.

Just pull it out of any non MIUI or CM ROM. Anything stock/ TW based will have the stock camera.
Actually let me say it SHOULD be the stock one, I'm not entirely sure what each ROM has.
Hello all! I've tried searching/posting in other forums, especially the MIUI forums, but I can't seem to get the help that I need. I am on an MIUI v5 3.8.29 ROM and the camera that came with the ROM does not have the quality and settings that the Touchwiz camera has. I would like to somehow install the touchwiz camera, is that possible? I have gotten different answers from different people. Some saying it is possible because MIUI has touchwiz framework and some saying that it isn't possible because MIUI doesn't have touchwiz framework. Well, which is it?
I have already tried downloading a stock deodex touchwiz ROM to try to transfer the camera over, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. There are a couple .apk's in the stock ROM that might pertain to the camera/gallery and those files are: SamsungCamera.apk and SecGallery2_Galaxy.apk. This is the part where I am stuck. The file in MIUI is named Gallery2.apk and there is no other file that looks like it could be the gallery and/or camera. I've tried deleting the Gallery2.apk in the MIUI ROM and replacing it with the SecGallery2_Galaxy.apk, but it will not install to my device. It keeps telling me that install is unsuccessful. Same goes for the SamsungCamera.apk. Has anyone ever done this before or could possibly guide me along? It is very important that I have a good camera for work and this stock MIUI/CM camera just isn't cutting it.
Nevermind. I guess this doesn't work because I am running MIUI with CM base not official, which is TW based.

Is it okay to use the 4.1/4.2 camera apks on Android 4.4. I'm currently running the KitKat ROM on AT&T I747 and everytime the camera freezes/video messaging has exceeded size. I never had a problem when I had stock FW. With all the crap about no downgrading and hard-bricking(I hard bricked before trying to use Xposed settings) , would it be safe to use the 4.1/4.2 camera on version 4.4?
I've tried several of the KitKat Roms posted here but they all seem to have the same problem; the camcorder takes somewhat choppy videos, like it's skipping frames. Is there any way I could install the Touchwiz camera from a 4.3 Touchwiz rom on one of these KitKat 4.4 roms that seem based on the GPE, AOSP or Cyanogenmod? First, would this even work? Second, how would I do it? I'm thinking maybe I make a backup of the camera using ES File Explorer when I'm running a Touchwiz rom, then I flash the new KitKat rom and restore my camera backup there. Would that work?

Simply put, no. MAYBE on the GE ROMs. But definately not on AOSP or Cyanogen. Frameworks are way different.

Same issue here D855. In Fulmics and stock works perfect, but i can't access rear camera running any AOSP based ROM.

Hmm are you using the stock built in camera app on CyanogenMod? If you flash open Gapps it replaces it with Google camera... That might be the issue... If it won't work on the stock rom camera then I got no idea
