Hey guys, so i have been all over the internet for like the last 3 days now trying my best to root this Tablet that was given to me by sprint when i opened a contract with them. i have seen a bunch of videos of people using towelroot, MasterRoot all kinds of "one click root" options. i gave up on those and tried a youtube tutorial i will post it down below. followed his steps, got super user but when i ran it, it said "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!" did another hour of browsing only to find out i have to "unroot" it? and i have no idea how to do that any and all help would be greatly appreciated. i will leave my tablet specs below just in case.

Hello Everyone,
Never had a problem rooting my phones, but something is weird with my S4. I have followed all the instructions I can find online. I used Odin 3-v1.85 everything was cool and passed..... I have installed the SuperUser v-0.99 recovery as stated, but when it get to the end it says root permission appears to be lost. It asks for me to swipe to fix it and looks like it's all good, but SuperUser won't show up and when I run root checker it says I'm unrooted????? Anyone else having this issue? Any help would be very appreciated.

I used this method a few hours ago to root my Galaxy S4 on Jelly Bean 4.3 ..(I can't post links because I'm a new user but go to google and copy and paste this How to Root Galaxy S4 (T-Mobile) SGH-M919 on Android 4.3 Jelly then click on the link from honai-android and there is a step by step.
Use Auto Root and Odin3 v3.07 -- Then I went ahead and flashed the latest Clockwork Recovery Mod and just flashed the Gummy ROM on Android KitKat 4.4 and it is awesome! No wi-fi calling though so keep that in mind.
I would like to root my SPH-L520 so I can flash it to Boost Mobile as a replacement for my long-in-the-tooth TP2. To do this, I followed a guide I found on andromods.com entitled "How to root Sprint Galaxy S4 mini (SPH-L520) running latest software version from OTA" (sorry, I don't have the permissions needed to post the link). My first step was to establish a USB connection between my SPH-L520 and my PC (Windows 7). You use Kies for that, right? Well, Kies would recognize that there was a SPH-L520 connected, but it wouldn't actually connect to it. It just kept saying “connecting” for half an hour. So I shot-off a support request to Samsung asking for the appropriate drivers for my phone (none are listed on the webpage for the device) and Samsung said there aren't any drivers for the SPH-L520. Kies does connect my SPH-L520 and my PC via WiFi, though, so I thought I’d try to go ahead and run the Kingo rooting program. So I enabled Developer Mode (by tapping on “Build Number” several times) and enabled USB Debugging and ran Kingo. Kingo connected but saw my Samsung device as being in “Normal Mode” (I’m guessing it should have said “Developer Mode”?). I went ahead and clicked on the "ROOT" button and my phone failed to root. I tried it several times and it failed every time. Phone stats are below. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Model number: SPH-L520
Android version: 4.2.2

I have the s4 mini lte for sprint and rooted the phone with Kingo and didn't have any problems at all. However, I can't find ANY custom roms that are compatible with it due to the phone being fairly new. So yea, I've been impatiently waiting for a custom rom to download. If anyone knows where I can find one that doesn't have a ton of bugs, please let me know. Thanks

How did you connect your phone to your computer so you could run Kingo? Did you use Kies or another program? For me, the Kingo program may work fine, but I won't know until I can get Kies to connect.

It finally rooted on the umpteenth try. I believe I disconnected/closed Kies and then ran Kingo and it worked. Now to find a good, easy way to flash it to Boost. Any advice on that would be appreciated.

I'd also be really interested in this as well. Well flashing it too anything. I've been searching for HOURS. and have tried to get the MSL with no luck in any shape or form.
Hey guys, new to rooting and having a little bit of an issue. I recently rooted my phone successfully by using Kingo to root, CWM to backup, and installed CyanogenMod using their installer which worked like a charm. Then I attempted to root my wife's AT&T Galaxy SIII JUST using CM. Installed just fine, but didn't root her phone. I get the message "No SU binary installed" when I attempt to open SuperSU and have found that her phone is indeed not rooted. Why?
Well I did some research and found that some people had this same problem and just went to Dev options and activated root access from there, only problem is, I don't have that "root access" option in the Developer settings. (I have opened Dev options and looked through them 1000 times looking for anything related to root access. No luck.) So at this point I attempt to root the phone using Kingo as I did with my phone. This results in a perpetual "Downloading... Do not turn off target !!" message on the phone and Kingo "waiting for device..." on the Kingo app on the computer.
I've also been told that Super user access could be denied by KNOX but I have had no luck in removing KNOX by using all methods found online.
So... my question is, how do I successfully root her phone from here. I have looked everywhere on the internet for a solution to this problem, but can't seem to find an answer. For those of you who may be able to help:
Samsung ATT Galaxy S3
Ver. 4.4.2
CyanogenMod 11.0 d2att
Thanks for the support and I hope I can get this resolved soon.
EDIT: I resolved this issue by using the towelroot method
Hi guys. I'm new at forum. In case i may repeat some thread, i'm deeply sorry but i'm very desperate, 'cause i really not understanding.
Root is new for me. However in the last 3 weeks i keep learning about all of it, mainly observing this forum. I even could root another phones, purchased recently. The problem is that my Samsung is not accepting any kind of root , being programs of "one-click" or even flash recover process. I have already watched a billion tutorials but i can manage to make it work. For your information:
- One-click Programs using PC (used: Kingo Root, Root Genius, SRS and etc....)
Process starts nicelly and countdown of percentages are slow, but work. However, in some point, with all this programs, the phone reboots itself, not as the way that should be, breaking the process. So the root's not succeed.
- ODIN/CWM/Supersu
I managed to place a custom Rom using Odin and install super su using flash recovery following the same procedures as everyone. But, when phone reboots, not only the root is not available but the supersu is having that "binary error" thing. I know that this is not a problem of the program, but something odd about the rooting process.
I got all samsung drivers updated. Does someone can help me out with this blast phone? I never thought that trying to root a samsung phone would be so dificult. Never again a Samsung Phone, since i cannot be master of my own phone.
Phone model: Samsung S3 Grand duos GT i9082l
Android ver.: 4.2.2
Rooting will be very difficult at first.I also faced many problems when I first rooted my device. At last after using many apps I successfully rooted my phone using Root Genius
★ try to use non samsung usb
★ use different ports
★ make sure that you enabled usb debugging
★ try on different pc/laptop
............but later I learned how to root using odin..
But my favourite method is one click root app named kingroot mobile apk(try 3 times atleast)..

@NeoLogY I think he is telling about SGG i9082l......S3 and grand are 2 different classes...Only similarity is in its design....
This is a method to obtain working root & Super Su by chainfire with up-to-date binaries for the
AT&T Variant of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (SM-T217A) on 4.4.2
Let me make very clear, I did not develop these apps!
This is just a method I found after searching & some trial and error.
I thought it may be helpful if it were available here on the forums.
I spent too long looking for a method that still worked on an OTA up-to-date device etc.
Nobody bothers for an old device with a locked bootloader. :crying:
I'm sure everyone that has had or currently has this model knows that Kingo Root works (at least for partial root), and a big thanks to them for their effort & hard work.
But if you're like me, you want the freedom to use Super Su or any of the other available options out there for managing permissions.
Either way, thanks to Kingo for a temporary solution.
And thanks to gatesjunior you can have your freedom of choice back.
(Although I highly recommend that you use the version found at the bottom of the post, because the newer version I tried stalled at the 1st stage.)
If this method ends up working for you I think it would be worth the $3.99 to support the developer by purchasing his app!
(If you feel adventurous you can attempt using the google play store release, but I had no such luck.)
I had originally tried to use Super Sume version 6.5 with Kingo Root but, it just ended up losing my root access and I had to re-root my device.
Yesterday I attempted to run Super Sume v. 9.2.6 I believe, but for some reason it didn't recognize it Kingo, or Kingroot as being installed on my device.
So I ended up uninstalling it and trying an older version I had read worked, and it succeeded!
Instructions for obtaining Root & Migrating over to Super Su are as follows.
If you are currently rooted using Kingo Root, un-root from within the Kingo app 'Superuser' and proceed to uninstall the rest of their apps..
Install & run Kingroot 4.5; When this is finished, restart your phone and run an app to verify you have root. (I use the free version of Root Checker.)
This may not be necessary but at this point I re-installed Busybox.
Install & run Super Sume v6.7
Restart & Verify Root!
:fingers-crossed: Success! :highfive:
If for some reason your device failed to achieve root using Kingroot after removal of Kingoroot; you may have better luck leaving your device rooted with all the Kingo Root apps installed until after you install Kingroot.
(Although I'm sure most people would advise against it, I actually skipped the un-root/un-installation procedure until after I had installed Kingroot 4.5 because I my battery was at 9%)
Honestly it shouldn't really matter though Super Sume is supposed to remove everything like that anyways
Required APK's can be found below.

Kingroot 4.5.apk
Super Sume 6.7.apk

Glad to hear it!
I figured it would probably work on all the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 variants but I only have the AT&T model.
If you don't want to flash your system(or can't in my case) this is probably the next best thing.
Worked for me on my AT&T SM-T217A on 4.4.2 T217AUCUCNI1 & T217AUCUCNI2
Thank you!

Let me know if updated link works, otherwise... I will update OP when I get home.
I know this thread is quite old but it helped me get back on track thanks to r4e_hafintosh and his great instructions. I am working with a Galaxy 3 7.0 SM-T217A (AT&T) version. Wasn't working right so I did a full reset. Tried to get TWRP installed and things went to hell quickly. Biggest problem then was finding a stock 4.2.2 and/or 4.4.2. I finally located both here: https://androidfilehost.com/?w=search&s=T217A so I was able to use the repair files and get back to stock 4.4.2. Then I followed instructions from r4e_hafintosh to get KingRoot installed along with BusyBox. I'm currently waiting for SuperSUMe to install and it appears I'm back on track. Thanks to r4e_hafintosh, the unknown person who posted the repair files and everyone who has posted at XDA and other Android sites that allowed me to finally hunt down what I needed. Probably a small victory for those much more well versed in customizing ROMs but I big win for me. Hopefully the next person trying to find stock files for the AT&T SM-T217A will find this post as well. Thanks all!
How can we unlock bootloader for it
