LG Optimus G Pro Security Error/device not being recognized by windows
After attempting to flash the cyanogenmod rom to my LG Optimus G, I ended up with the "Security Error" screen whenever I attempt boot. I can enter download and hard reset modes, but not recovery mode.
I've done a significant amount of searching around and attempted a few stock recovery methods that don't seem to work. I am thinking that the problem lies in windows not recognizing my phone as an android device. So, it makes the mounted device sound, but when I am in device manager, I cannot find the device anywhere, and when using adb to detect devices, it does not come up, despite the most current drivers being loaded.
Help? I would like to get my phone back if possible. I apologize if this answer is somewhere, but like I said, everything I have tried seems to fail.

Hi all of you,
After rooting, unfortunately i uninstall some applications like play movie, play tv. Once the phone restarts, it loops in LG logo and do not go further. After searching internet a lot, trying many things, i install Team win recovery project(TWRP). in early the phone detected as normal LG device in download mode. I do not know what happened ( may be this is due to advanced wiping all), now when i connect phone in download mode, it appears in device manager in "other devices" category as "Full Jellybean on mako" and says no drivers installed. What is the problem even i installed LG united mobile drivers installed.I searched google but nothing. Why it is showing like this. Due to this i cannot install any KDZ by KDZ update method.
Second, if i want to install ROM through TWRP, it requires a zip file and i have only KDZ file. How i can install the operating system.
Kindly help me. Its 48 hours i am working on it but still no sucess. I buy this phone a month ago. Its valuable to me.
So I have 5 days in research and trying to fix my LG G2 LS980 at first.
I wanted to install CM11 on my LG G2 tried and used the autrec for the recovery. After rebooting my phone it started up in fastboot mode. I attempted to get past the fastboot mode by using the method to flashing img files into it. After I had done so, I restarted my phone and it made the issue even worse. My phone now did not show anything on screen it was turned on, but it was black. I followed this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142
When I installed ubuntu on a fresh HDD I was getting them 15 drives but when I typed in lsusb it did not return the drive for my phone but I was able to follow through that guide all the way up when I pushed the file for sbl1.img from the stock files of ls980-ZV8 here: http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G2/LS980/Stock_Firmware/zv8_partitions Once I did that, I lost connection to it with ubuntu. At this moment the screen does not even turn on, but I have been able to get some communication between my windows 8.1 and it only shows as " Unknown Device: Device Descriptor Request Failed"
That is all I have been able to get and I'm at a loss as I just recently bought this phone. Please if anyone has any suggestions or advice please, I have looked all over this forum and have not found anything related to this similar issue.
Apologizies if this has been in the forum, but I've spent 5 days on this site. Thought that it was time to post my issue.
Hi
LG G3 D855 OS Android 5 V21c-TWN-xx
I am trying to upgrade to MM via the subject Flash Tool but it gets as far as 15% and then a Window pops up telling me
that the Phone has been disconnected and to reconnect and retry.
The phone is still connected and showing as such in explorer. I re-installed the drivers and still the same problem.
Tried compatibility mode Win 8 and the same thing happens. Anyone have this problem in Win 10 or know of a way round it.
I also have a WIn 8.1 Laptop which I used to update to the current OS with Flash Tool 2014 but it is now stopping and giving an error
"This programme has stopped working MS is checking Blah Blah"
Stransky
Having the same issue here with D852

LG Up shows phone as "unknown" no matter what I do.
I also have a G Flex 2 and this shows up ok in LG Up.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I downgraded from MM to LP two days ago. I had the little window saying "unknown "
The problem was that windows wasn't seeing my phone. I unplug the cable and plug it back and it worked. As I wrote before I am using windows 7.
Hi
Managed to get LG Tool 2014 to work and D855 now on v30b (MM) global.xx. Problem was driver related. I downloaded Win 10 G3 specific driver from LG site and everything then worked.
good to know pal.
i have lg g2 mini
the keyboard dos not start and my phone has number password
what can i do to restor my phone?
it is not root
I have windows 10 pro and i get same problem, i have solved this with driver usb install (sorry for my poor english)
Found my old LG-VS450PP Optimus Exceed 2 for Verizon. It was working fine when put away.
Charged the battery on a working phone (same model) but this recently resurrected phone will not boot up. Same results using vol+ / power or just power button regardless of sequencing battery out/usb cord in or out.
Gives error "boot certification verify" and then shuts down. Back light remains lit.
I can get it to open into another screen (Vol- / power) that offers four options: continue reboot, factory data reset, wipe cache, safe mode boot. Selecting any of those options results in the unit shutting down.
Vol+ plus power do not open Download window.
While it fails to boot, I can still see two folders on my Win 7 PC: image and verinfo. Image contains numerous files . So the phone IS connected to the PC but there appears to be something else that fails to initiate "connection" as far as the LG Flash tool 2014 is concerned. Any suggestions welcome.
Thinking of last resorts, I read somewhere of shorting a test point on the board but can't find directions for this model.
This web site is goog and helpfull for me.

Hi all,
This is my first thread on this website and I am not that expert of rooting and installing custom ROM's. I am trying to find a solution on your website for 2 days but I couldn't solved although I tried everything.
I have an issue with my LG G Pad 8.3 (LG V500) tablet. It was installed 5.0.2 stock ROM (Korean version) and I decided to root the device and install custom ROM. I used King Root to unlock the device. Then I installed TWRP thing to my tablet and started flashing ROM process. While working the tablet restarted automatically and it was stuck at the startup with a LG icon on the screen.
I decided to make factory hard reset it in order to get rid of this but when I try to make factory reset with button combinations I get the following error;
* Confirmed *
Secure booting Error!
Cause : boot certification verify
Then I searched for the forums and first installed Android Studio, then by using SDK manager tools, I also installed USB drivers.
As the device can connect download mode, I installed adb thing and tried to fix it. But apparently laptop does not recognize the device. I run the command "adb devices" and there is no devices in the list.
I also tried to use twrp recovery tools but again it didn't recognize the device.
When I check the Device Manager when the tablet is connected to laptop on download mode, I can see LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port (COM4) thing installed. I also tried to install Android Device drivers (Android ADB Interface, Android Bootloader Interface, Android Composite ADB Interface) but they are not working properly and they have question mark on their left side.
So as you can understand I am drawning with the issues and don't know what to do next. Apparently laptop does not recognize the device but although I checked the xda forums and other forums for 2 days, I couldn't solve. I would really appreciate if you can help me.

I couldn't get the computer to recognize one of my LG devices using ADB until I used this...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
Tl;dr: DM-VERITY error after upgrading, SIM card not recognized. Can't get fastboot to work to try out a solution. Everything is going to ****.
So... this one's a doozy.
I tried to install the update by dropping it onto my phone and using TWRP to install it, which I ended up having to update. After I updated, I get a brief second popup screen when I reboot telling me that there is an invalid DM-VERITY (it only pops up for a second). When the phone loads, it doesn't recognize SIMs.
I did some research and it looks like the issue can be fixed by flashing the stock recovery. So I go to flash the stock recovery, which requires the usage of fastboot. Which I always have problems with.
Sure enough, adb recognizes my device but fastboot doesn't. I have all the drivers downloaded, so I go check on my device in device manager. For some reason, it's always listed under "Portable Devices" no matter what I do... no matter whether I enable/disable USB debugging, MTP/PTP/Charging, etc. I was under the impression that a device not being recognized by fastboot meant that you had to go find it under "other devices" and manually update the drivers. However, the only options here are ADB drivers, not bootloader ones.
So I did more research. Turns out that Windows 10 is ****ty and you have to disable secure boot to install unsigned drivers. So I went into my BIOS, disabled it, booted into safe mode, reinstalled the drivers, and... nothing.
So I'm basically where I started and for the first time in a while, I have no clue what to do. Nothing's working. I even tried to load an older version of OxygenOS and install it with TWRP (sideloading didn't work), which didn't work. I'm totally stuck and I have no idea what to do.
If you don't care about your data, just use the unbrick guide method 2. Don't know about the first one, I have never used that. That will get you to a like new phone. You could even get 4.0.3 version, using the newer unbrick toolkit.
Windows 10 x64 isn't that sh**y. I've never had issues with the drivers, and they all install automatically (fastboot, adb, unbrick tool). They all work with 4 phones without any issues: OP3, Nexus 5X, Nexus 5, Nexus 4.
True, I had just unbrick my op3 2 days back by method 2 .
Well this was wild
So I did try to unbrick and got the Sahara communication error.
But I ended up fixing my problem! Someone on Reddit correctly pointed out that the dm-verity screen often exists simply as a result of unlocking the bootloader. I was assuming that one symptom caused the other. They suggested just reflashing OnePlus's 4.1.3 full ROM. I did it exactly the same way as I had when I got the error (with TWRP) and... it worked!
I'm astounded. My phone wouldn't work with fastboot, wasn't recognized by the unbrick toolkit, and had a host of other issues. I did 7 hours of work on it and the solution ended up being that I just needed to reinstall the OS (again). My hypothesis is that there was some hidden issue that resulted in part of the firmware being incorrectly updated, and when I wiped my device as part of my troubleshooting process it was ready to be reflashed with the OS.
Thank you guys so much anyway!
