My SGH-i257M Rogers Canada is not set up to have the Mobile data ON/OFF icon available on the notification screen. When i select to edit the Quick Setting Buttons it is not in the set of choices. It was there until the phone was sent in for a repair last year; or perhaps after the KitKat 4.4.2 update?
I would like to get this back to the way it was. Any ideas?
TIA,
Mick

Hello everybody,
I'm currently running XenonHD (December 22, 2012 update) on a Galaxy Nexus. My problem is that as soon as my phone loses signal with Wind Home (n.b. my provider is Wind Mobile) and reconnects back to it when I get within range it displays the numbers 302490 instead of Wind Home. Now, although I know that to be Wind Home and everything works it's annoying to have to restart the device to get it to display Wind Home again (Note, toggling airplane mode on/off doesn't work). I can't simply set the phone to WCDMA only because I need to be able to receive SMS while roaming on Rogers (since receive SMS are free) and I also don't want to use the custom carrier label function that comes with the rom because I'm pretty sure it doesn't discriminate whether I'm roaming or not which defeats the purpose of having the phone telling me whether I'm on the network or roaming since I only want to receive SMS while roaming. Furthermore, when I try to manually select the network in the mobile networks options it also shows digits for wind and several providers (e.g. Rogers) in digits as well. Was wondering if anybody knows of a fix for this problem since I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem.

Is there a way to change the data indicator from "4G" (already changed from the normal AT&T LTE indicator) to say something like "LTE" or the Verizon or T-Mobile LTE indicators?

This thread may help if your still looking. I did notice when I tried this, it modified the appearance of my notification panel quick setting buttons as well.
I think k2ltetmo and d2ltetmo will get you the T-Mobile style.
I have done the USA unlock. It was working fine. Then I factory reset it. Now, the roaming indicator is off. And I'm unable to switch it back to gsm to use my carrier TMobile. I tried putting a sprint Sim and it doesn't go away.
The mobile network is greyed out. In the notification menu on the bottom it says roaming indicator off where it used to say T-Mobile.
Please help
I think I fixed it. Downloaded radio switcher and manually changed it. I'm going to restore phone and double check to see if it holds true
So I was issued a warranty claim to return my Note 4 for a replacement due to not being able to make and receive phone calls and text messages.
The AT&T store has replaced the SIM card with NO fix to my problem so I was advised to get a replacement. My issue is that the device will be a refurbish and I don't like this option when I purchased a brand NEW one.
My question, is there an LTE on/off option somewhere? This morning I'm connecting to AT&T but it's Edge network only.
It'd be nice to solve this problem and keep my 'NEW' device instead of dealing with a refurb that may have unforeseen problems.
Is there an option in the *#0011# service menu?
Update after going into the *#0011# menu, I went into HW TEST MENU and chose Option 7 to 'NV REBUILD ALL'.
After reboot I seem to have full network functionality, even 4G LTE. So we'll see how long this lasts.
Goto Dialer then type *#*#4636#*#* then device info. Change lte/GSM to wcdma
The above update worked and has since choosing the option 'NV REBUILD ALL'.
So anyone who screws up their settings can always choose this to fix it.

That works perfectly.
Follow up question: is there a way to make a shortcut to this menu on the home screen?

I'm thinking if you add that number as a contact then you can add a quick dial shortcut to your home screen ☺
You may have to use another launcher as I'm unsure if TouchWiz has that feature.
Nova is an awesome launcher.
I'm using nova. Doesn't seem to work doing it as a shortcut to a contact. And none of the play store apps work.
Oh well, not that big of a deal to just dial it manually.

I updated my g4 to marshmallow yesterday and I noticed in settings, when I select data roaming there are now three options, off, national only and all networks. Can someone explain what these options mean and which one I should be selecting if I go abroad. It used to just be an on/off option and I've never seen this before on any android phone I've had

OFF - Data disabled completely - same as hitting the toggle in the notification bar
National Only - You will have data only in your country. When abroad, you will have data marked as on but you won't have data
All networks - data will still work when you leave your country (with all the costs that might include)
Thanks! Not sure why they changed it when an on/off switch is fine.
