[Q] Windows RT 8.1 Surface 2 No Network Drivers - Windows RT General

Hi,
So I have been having a problem with my Surface 2, for no reason out of the blue my internet kicked out and not says it cannot find any networks. When I troubleshoot the issue, it says that "Windows did not detect a properly installed network driver," and my network connections folder is empty, as well as nothing for network showing up with in device manager. I have tried resetting to factory settings and recovering, but when the tablet boots back up, the problem still persists. I have also tried looking for a manual download to the driver, but have found nothing.
Has anyone else had this issue or know a way to fix it?

You can download the Surface 2 Drivers here;

I also made a torrent for an up to date Surface 2 Image...all updates and drivers added in as of Jan 7th 2015, you can get that here;

USB to PC setting problems

It's been some days since I can't sync my dash using ActiveSync. It won't recognize the device.
I've been trying to change the advanced networking setting in the USB to PC menu, but I can't open it.
There is an error that says: "The settings could not be opened".
I want to avoid the hard-reset. Any ideas on how to access the connections menu to restore the syncing functionality?
Are you using windows xp or windows vista?
I've tried both of them, and none works. I've also read some reports that this has happened before, but didn't find a solution for it.
I'm hoping someone has a solution since a hard-reset is such a pain in the as*. I haven't upgraded rose roms just because the time invested in my current setup is way too much.
Simple fix just dont download Active Sync your missing something else that needs to install the Usb Drivers for your phone to??? You need to download the Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center.mspx This was the easiest way to solve my problems.

If that was the problem... but as I said I can't open the USP to PC settings page no matter what, and that's the first thing I'd like to get working.

Sounds like a hard-reset moment if you can't open USB to PC, then there could be other issues anyway... Bite the bullet hard-reset be up and running in no time and one step closer to working out what the issue is or it will be solved.

[Q] USB drivers, HTC Sync, data transfer - Can't access phone storage through Windows

Hey gang!
(I tried searching this forum for my issue, but the search form keeps giving me errors like "An error occurred while performing a Searchlight query:
connection to 10.0.100.17:9312 failed (errno=111, msg=Connection refused)." So, sorry if there's a thread about this already :S)
I'm trying to access my M8's storage through Windows Explorer via USB. Been using a OneX until now, which lets me do that just fine. But the M8 just gives me an MTP connection when I plug in the cable, which doesn't let me look at the data on it (the device shows up in Explorer, but when I open it, it just stays empty - no files or folders).
I've tried installing the latest USB drivers from this thread but the setup just won't start. It briefly pops up in task manager, but nothing happens. Turned off UAC, anti virus and what-have-you. When I try an older version of the drivers, Windows tells me they're already installed.
Then I just went with HTC Sync. Installed it, hooked up the phone, it starts fine. But I can only access the Home, Gallery and Music tabs. The Files tab is greyed out, which I think is curious.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks!
Did you entert your PIN on your Lockscreen before you checked the explorer, else the device is shown empty ?!

Yep, the phone is unlocked.

Zenfone 2 Z00AD (Japan) doesnt connect to PC

I'm on a Japanese new phone which was never rooted (but sent to repair twice for bad front speaker/earpiece and motherboard)
It currently on Android version 5.0
Japanese version 2.15.40.13
The Phone doesnt connect to the PC, I've tried normal connection with windows explorer, tried the Asus application.
The phone either appears as empty or appears and then suddenly disappears, on and off. I can't even view the contents let alone copy/move/delete. (from the computer that is)
Is there another option to move files to the computer beside dropbox? which takes up my bandwidth and is kinda slow.
I've seen on ASUS site that there are 3 official 2.20.xxx versions yet my phone doesnt recognize anything when I press the CHECK FOR UPDATE.
Is there a way to update it without rooting ? and without doing a factory reset ?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I've tried this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtQeVbKT6Zc
But I dont get the Update pop-up.
Also, Do I need to put the next available version, and update in order or just the newest/latest one ?
EDIT 2:
After a while I noticed that it didnt even copy the file to the phone.
When I connect the phone to my PC (windows 10) via USB 2.0 and/or 3.0 a folder called z00ad shows for a few sec. then disappeared.
I tried to several cables and ports.
sometimes it shows as an empty folder and sometimes I can see the folders inside but then it disappears and I get an error message.
I've got developer rights or access by tapping the kernel version.
I've enable the install by third parties option.
I've disabled the lock
disabled the screen off timer
Is it a Windows 10 thingy ? (I got the new Intel Driver for android)
EDIT 3:
Uploaded the file to Dropbox and downloaded on my phone, saved with ES File explorer to main directory, reset the phone, and now its updating. (UL-Z00A-JP-2.20.40.174-user)
When its done I will update for the next update (UL-Z00A-JP-2.20.40.183-user), and then the latest one (UL-Z00A-JP-2.20.40.185-user).
Hope Android 6 will arrive soon and that all of the problems are software related and not hardware...
Only trouble with this phone
EDIT 4:
Stuck on the INSTALLINg sYSTEM UPDATE... screen.
Its been like that for over 10 min. now, the blue progress line is stuck somewhere between the G and S (installinG System)
How long should I wait for it to finish? I saved the update file to the built-in memory, not the SD so speed shouldn't be an issue right ?
If its stuck what should I do ? Turn the phone off? Reset ? will I lose all of my files/photos?!
For this guy the problem solved itself after almost an hour...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/help/stuck-installing-update-t3151529
I will try to give it 2 and see how it goes
EDIT 5:
After almost 2 hours my phone was updated.
Yet still connection problems to the PC.
I'm trying the next Update, maybe it will fix this issue.
I've read online and I can't seem to find a solution.
I've tried different cables and connected to different USB slots but still, either I get no detection, or a detection with empty drive, or detection with external and internal memory but then it quickly disappears. The phone itself still keeps charging so it must be connected properly.
Has anyone else had this problem ? (I also had it while I was on Win 8.1, now win 10)
EDIT 6:
After doing the 3 available updates, manually... for around 6 hours ... I still cant connect the phone to the computer

Kind of surprised you're still running Windows 8.1. Windows 10 is free for you and better in just about every way, regardless of the UI changes. Just a recommendation, though I doubt it'd fix your issue.
There's an easy way to tackle this but it depends on how the driver is being installed. If you're connecting your phone to your computer and Windows is insisting on downloading and installing this "TP-Link" driver from Windows Update, there is a way to disable this in a few easy steps. If you're connecting your phone to your computer and Windows just assumes that it's a "TP-Link Android Phone" and applies the wrong pre-loaded driver (usually gives you a notification near the clock) then we're gonna have to get a bit crafty.
EDIT: Silly question. You don't have USB tethering or any wacky app that would be causing this issue, right?

No tether app or other apps no, thats why im lost as to why its started this BS , windows i know can be tricky WIN10 was not for me plus the free upgrade has past now (29July) anyway.

Would you mind doing something for me before performing the steps I'm going to list below? Go into Device Manager with the phone plugged in and installed as the stupid "TP-Link" BS and find it in the list of devices. Should probably be under Portable Devices or something. Right click it and click Properties, go to the Driver tab and click "Driver Details". All of the drivers should be located in the 'system32/DRIVERS' folder. Mind giving me the names of those drivers listed? Naming convention is typically driverName.sys.
Additionally, we're going to try a Group Policy change. Hit Windows Key + R and type 'gpedit.msc' and hit enter. A window labeled "Local Group Policy Editor" should come up. Then do the following:
Expand Computer Configuration (Left hand side, the navigation panel)
Expand Administrative Templates
Expand System
Expand Device Installation
Click Device Installation Restrictions
On the right hand side, now, there should be a list of restrictions. Somewhere in that list there should be an item "Prevent installation of devices not described by other policy settings". Double-click that and another window named the same thing should pop up. In the top left, set it to enabled and click Apply, then OK.
Unplug your phone and get rid of that ****ty driver if you haven't already and then restart and try connecting the phone again to see if the same incorrect driver install occurs.
@MKD73 You ever get this sorted out?
Sorry been away on holiday for the weekend , I'll be taking a look in the morning :victory:
Please give update
Have you resolved this issue? My laptop is acting the same. Device manager sees my phone as "TP-Link Android Phone" with sub category of "Android Bootloader Interface." I can't use ADB with it, not recognized.
I tried doing what Alcolawl said but nothing happens. When I right click the "TP Link--- it just says general properties, no 'drivers' etc. I saw the 'driver' option in the "Andoid bootloader Interface" . It says the driver is: winusb.sys, wdfCoInstaller01009.dll and WinUSBInstaller2.dll. When I tried to edit the group, it says "Windows can not find gpedit.msc
Hope you can help me. My phone is stuck in fastboost mode- LG D838

I did it. Execute :
Code:
rundll32.exe newdev.dll,DeviceInternetSettingUi 2
and prevent driver from being installed.
Help me please!
Did you guys manage to fix it? I tried everything you people said but it didn't work. I have a Blu Vivo Xi+ and my PC only recognizes it as TP-LINK Android Phone. I dumbly deleted it's OS and all it's data when trying to update it. I only have access to TWRP and fastboot, is there a way to fix it? I would love if someone could assist me ?.

Dex on Windows and Kaspersky

Hi all,
Today I tried to install the Dex on Windows software, directly downloaded from Samsung, on my Windows 10 laptop. The installation runs Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Windows. When I run the installer, the virus scanner pops up with:
Application: Samsung DeX
User: xxxxxxx (Active user)
Component: File Threat Protection
Result: Detected: Trojan-Ransom.Win32.Encoder.efg
Object: C:\Users\xxxxxxx\AppData\Local\Temp\{1283C5D4-19AD-488A-A5EC-145DE564E91E}\.ba\MSSetupAddinDll.dll
Reason: Automatic analysis
Database release date: 23-8-2019 06:57:00
Anyone else had this experience as well? I can't remove or disable the virus scanner as it is company policy.
Gerco
It's more than likely part of your companies EPO protection not to allow it. Ours don't allow USB connectivity for instance.
You might be able to request an exception to the policy if you're using it for work.
Dex on Windows 10 does not detect Note 10+
I have download the Windows Dex software and install on my laptop running Windows 10. Unfortunately the Dex software will not detect my Note 10+ when I connect it to my laptop. I have tried all the recommendation by reinstalling the driver and still not able to detect my Note 10+ even though I can see my phone listed under Windows File Explorer.
Anyone facing the same issue. I have search the web for the last 3 days and nothing come up solid that I can get my problem resolves. Please help if you have the same problem before and you managed to fix it.
Thanks a million.

I did exactly the same by using my Note 8 cable as well but it still cannot detect. I even went and buy a new cable but to no avail.

Hi, thank you for sharing the link. I tried it several times even restarting both my laptop and Note 10+. When I did the switch toTransferring Images, my computer will sound a chime and then when I switch back to transferring files, also another chime was heard but nothing happens.
I've even check the windows firewall and Samsung Dex is allowed with no restriction with public and local network settings.
:crying:
I found out that windows update have issues updating the driver.
There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help:
SAMSUNG Electronics Co., Ltd. - USB - 7/8/2019 12:00:00 AM - 2.16.9.0 -Error 0x800f0247
I try fixing Windows update and even though it did fixed some files, yet the error above still persist.

EDIT:
I tried it with my Mac and that works perfectly fine. Whenever i try it with Windows it fails.
