[Q] Stupid Question! But need help - Zooper Widget General

Hope I don't get yelled at for this one, but I'm super new to Android (former iPhone user for way to long) and Zooper is the best freakin thing I ever found! My problem is I love it too much, I download A LOT .. Icon packs, templates, 300 something fonts. I have the Galaxy S5 which to me is a beast compared to my old iPhone but I don't know if I'm killing my phone ad storage! I cleaned up the AutoSave folder which had 40 something templates saved most of which were junk and after that Zooper no longer saved any widget I was working on! An un and re-installed fixed it but then 2 days later Im back up to 15 AutoSaves I don't need. Is there anyway to create widgets, have access to your fonts and templates on a desktop computer?! Thanks!

If you want to do everything on your computer then this is probably your best bet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/themer/zooper/tutorial-using-bluestacks-to-make-t2931568
If you want to store existing stuff from your phone then take fonts/tempolates from the relevant folders in your ZooperWidget folder and transfer them over. Like you I have amassed a massive collection of widgets, for me the easiest thing is just to move them to a separate folder outside of Zoopers folder with a file manager and move them back when I want to use them.
Hope this helps.

What are the best ways to back-up the data on my phone?

I'm going to start flashing my phone whenever any new NRG ROM's come out, but I don't know how to back-up all the data on my phone so I don't have to start all over again.
What programs are best to use? And how do I use them?
Cheers.
define data.
contacts, notes, tasks, calendar?
try outlook. or myphone.
though. there are others.
names escape my mind though.
ya men, plenty out there. depends on what your needs are.
some just care about messages, some wants to have all back.
maybe configuration of apps.
-
I am using an small easy script I wrote in mscr, you can give it a try.
no good for messages but doing all the rest.
it works the way that ONCE you have to copy files holding configuration to SD card to dedicated folder, then it's doing it itself on scheduled time.
once you reflash rom, it will restore them all back. registry as well.
just back up your contacts to your sim and use Microsoft My Phone. Backs up all the basics, simply, quietly and not a problem to restore the info. It even holds your douments too. Should already be on your phone (the best part). I now never hesitate to hard reset if I want to do something
Cheers guys.
But stuff I'd like to save are the likes of all the settings. All my contacts etc. are all on my account on Microsoft's exchange server, it's just all the individual settings which i wish i could keep instead of flashing then spending half an hour doing them all over again!

that's what this script is doing, if you are familiar with creating reg files. and you are able to point out files responsible for settings in whichever app, give it a try. it's launging somewhere around on xda-dev, but i would update it if you like.
e.g. skype:
you copy application data\skype to SD\backup\application data\skype
and it will every 2 weeks copy them, again and again. It's done in background and very slowly, not slowing other processes, you can't notice. then there is simple restore which through config.txt herds them back.
for registry e.g facebook, create facebook.reg and put in SD\backup
just adding pim.vol will take care of contacts and calendar.
there is an option to add a file: "backup.all" which would mean that the whole folder is going there.
it's simple but what more I need?
hi guys
....... and sorry wich is the best way to back-up all he sms?

http://www.dotfred.net/default.htm
it's simple, small, free and the guy who wrote it looks smart, he did the fdc task manager too, there is no concurrence in that one.
I've been using something payed and fancy and big before and it messed my messaging.
thank you very much i downloaded it and as soon as possible i'll try it.from the web site it seems very good!

A neat trick to keep your wallpaper fresh

Randomly poking around If This Then That (ifttt.com) I came across this neat little recipe. Basically, every day National Geographic puts out a pic of the day. This recipe automatically snags the picture (via RFF notification) and puts a copy in dropbox for me. When I remember, I goto my dropbox and move the pics over to my wallpaper directory on the phone. Now, I use an app called multipicture live wallpaper, which cycles my wallpapers from any directory I choose.
So, as long as I remember to copy the pics, I have new pictures for my background daily.
Enjoy!

Thats awesome!
except since i'm new to ifttt - do you trust giving them full access to your dropbox account? I'm thinking of recreating this with my useless Box account...

I am not sure what you are putting in your drop box, but I use it for pictures, a few work files, and some videos. So I guess I trust them, but I don't put anything there that's crazy or very close hold.

View By in Gallery

When starting the Gallery to view photos, I noticed it seems to collect images from every folder in the main memory (scripts, silver, tables, icons, moz, english, float, border... etc.). I only want to view my images and videos which I can do via Menu, View by, Content in device. I wish there was a way to save that as the default because I don't really care to see all the other crap.
Dude! I was also having this problem this weekend! What made me mad about this, is that I bought a brand new micro 64 GB SDXC, and I loaded all my photos on there. I I organized them into directories ( using the tree branch method) so that I can navigate them well, but when I go into the stock gallery app I see all the folders on there instead of being separated the way I have it organized, I have to scroll through thousands of folders being displayed at once .
What I had to do then with download a different app from the App Store. I downloaded Quickpic, and it gets the job done decently.
The good thing about this app, is that it actually allows you to decide on which folders to show, and which ones to hide. I'm now able to view my pictures and navigate my folders with ease, instead of seeing everything all at the same time. This can be quite frustrating when I have to scroll through hundreds of folders to find the one I'm looking for.
If you find a solution of this, please do let me know. I'm going to subscribe to this thread in the hopes that someone finds an answer.

[Q] Set up my new ONE X, Introduce me.

New android One X owner. Had an iphone before and I'm a bit confused over certain things. I have done my homework.
I haven't found any appealing reasons to root the phone... But there's certain things I'd like to know to set up this phone!
One thing I am having trouble getting used to is that the space between the icons on droid is too big. Can it be fixed with or without root?
Is it possible to sort apps manually or into categories, i just find the A-Z/time sort choices.
Essential Apps, the best one for each own thing? Swiftkey 3 for keyboard, airdroid over ESfileexplorer, Avast for antivirus security(necessary?) Dropbox for cloud..
What softwares do you use to sync music, videos and other content. HTC Sync Manager or is there better?
Is there a page like idownloadblog that keeps you easily up to date, posts guides, apps, tweaks from both sides of the river. Official and pirate stuff.
MOD EDIT : As explained , we do not like warez on XDA
Asking a lot so help me with whatever you'd like I'll look aroound meanwhile Thanks,
u can find everything in here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps
Welcome to the Android world mate!
1. Try a custom launcher: for example Nova Launcher from play store. The problem might also be that you are used to the tiiiiny screen of your former i-device.
2. Launcher settings, don't know if it's possible on stock Sense launcher.
3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1938854
4. No knowledge on that area.
5. www.xda-developers.com (forget about the pirate stuff though)
6. No. At least you won't get any help here @XDA to find such site.
We have absolute zero tolerance on warez and other questionable content. You might get banned for requesting such things. If you have money to buy a 500€ piece of hardware, you must be able to afford a 1€ app. Right?
loved the nova launcher
i'm having a though luck finding a quick compose sms widget
gopro and handcent sucked, the things is , that i'd like is something like chomps sms (bitesms) quick compose but not in notification, on the home screen as a widget.
do you know any such widgets+
android is awesome, do not understand why appstore and cydia is so much more developed. cant even find a simple note taking app like writeroom..

Try Apex too.

Apex or Nova

It was all depends on your preferences.
What softwares do you use to sync music, videos and other content. HTC Sync Manager or is there better?
Since you come from iOS, try AirSync + Doubletwist player to sync your itunes playlist.

up to date, guides, tweaks, mods just look here in XDA. if you cant find them, you're not reading them enough. hehe.

How to auto move folders with tasker.

Hi I need a little help if possible, I'm trying to find an app that will let me automove files and folders, I've found an app called "auto-move" that will move my files for me automatically but it doesn't move folders at all. So I need an app that can move folders to another location by the file(folder)name. I found the app called "tasker" and it seems like it might be able to do what I want but not sure as it's a bit of a headache for me to use, so is anyone experienced enough with "tasker" to help me?
Please keep in mind I have looked through a lot of guides but they all involve moving files and not folders.
I basically want to monitor a folder, and if that folder has other folders In it, it will move them to a certain location depending on folder name.
you can use other apps for this purpose, sync type apps like Synchronize Ultimate can sync folders and files to local and cloud network, create sync profiles but also has option to "delete from source after sync" and has plugin for tasker. So you may want to check those kind of apps.
I also found tasker difficult to handle and gave Automate a try, no complaints.

Thank you for the quick reply, yeah I figured it out now, I scrapped using tasker. I'm using auto-move to move the files to destination folder and using redirect pro to move files out of folders to the parent directory so auto-move can do its thing. I'm gonna check your suggestion as I'd prefer one app to do the job and by the sounds of it your will do the job
