[Q] not original digitizer? lg g pro from aliexpress - LG Optimus G Pro

Hello , i just bought a lg g pro for my father from aliexpress
http://m.aliexpress.com/item/1424364948.html
He didnt say something about refurbished phone
First i saw tha the camera pics is very low quality ( i wll upload some pics)
Second touch is a little weird . it has an accuracy error and sometimes i can touch anything
Any thoughts? ?
ps: i cant find software update check . it has 4.1.2
thanks

Get a digitizer/screen from repairs universe. Clean the lenses. Flash stock firmware. That's what I'd do.
Original owner got a Chinese 240L screen I bet. They just don't work right.

Well. It seems we are victims from the same seller.
I bought from the very same seller in aliexpress my OGP and have the very same problems you mention: random touchscreen interruptions, terrible back camera photos and I now realize the phone never get recognized when connected to a PC via USB. Even when I complain to the seller about this issues, he only refunded $12 under the excuse the phone is refurbished.

Btw: I managed to fix the blurry/ over exposed taken with the back camera, by replacing the back camera lens. It costed me around USD$ 3 on eBay and solved completely that issue. Now I have to figure out the touchscreen freezing and the USB communication problem. Any suggestions?

Like the second post says, get a replacement digitizer glass from the repair universe and then flash the stock firmware.

[Q] Failed screen repair attempt and questions

I recently attempted to repair my cracked front glass (touch screen was completely working).
I didn't heat the glass using a dryer or glue gun because I have seen a person doing a video on YouTube recommending not to heat the glue as it dries fast and it actually makes the glue harder to remove. Half way through the repair, touch was still working. Every thing was. So I got excited and accidentally nicked the screen. Since it wasn't working anymore (first white screen while I was doing the repair, then went half white/black, then when I turned it off/on again everything was black -- I could still receive calls) I decide to remove it altogether. Didn't know there was a hard to remove residue under it, but anyway I succeeded removing it.
I tried turning it on with the screen removed (also removed the connector to the motherboard) and I got a boot loop (felt vibrations again and again). Is this normal? I assume it is because no screen was connected. This is the current state of my device:
https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/114981610862902277332/albums/5848428825750128241
If you notice in the third pic, I also nicked a small part of the black portion of the back, where the circuits of the screen are placed. Anyway I want to ask if I can still purchase a $130 digitizer+screen replacement and attach it again, and do I need some kind of adhesive similar to the one I removed? Or is my device gone for good?
I'm planning to give this to my father if it can still be fixed.

Impossible to get support for Galaxy Nexus here in my country. I could have asked technicians or more hardware-techie people to do the job, but I figured based on the amount of people who did it successfully, I could have probably done it myself. Half way I was still doing good but got too excited so I broke it :/
Thanks
Edit: It seems the site you linked to does not have a screen+digitizer part available.
I've found the following parts on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Full-LCD-di...909?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c288bc915
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Touch-D...846?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item564c51c966
Is this the correct part? I still have the front glass part I ordered for my repair attempt, if these do not come with it.

Camera glass cracked!

I picked up my M8 last Friday at my local T-Mobile store, and put it in a new OtterBox case as soon as I got in the car. During the past week it has never left its case and has been sitting on my desk or in my pocket. I have never dropped it, set it down too hard, or even looked at it the wrong way. This morning I turned it over and found the glass on the camera has cracked!
I see that this was an issue with the M7, and I'm hoping it is not starting over again with this one. I found this thread on Reddit with a similar situation: http://www.reddit.com/r/htcone/comments/22z4dk/m8_rear_camera_glass_cracked_already/
Anybody else have this issue or any suggestions on what I can do to fix/get it fixed/get it replaced?
Somebody on Reddit also had this issue. I'm kind of worried about getting mine if this happens.
http://www.reddit.com/r/htcone/comments/22z4dk/m8_rear_camera_glass_cracked_already/
That sucks.. It was an issue with the m7 as well. And the lens didn't really change.
My release day m7 still doesn't have a single mark on it. But a couple co-workers fell victim to the broken lens.
As a side note, not sure if it will help or not. But the Nillkin tempered glass screen protector on amazon, comes with glass protectors for the lenses on the back.
Edit: also.. if they hassle you to hard on making you pay for replacements.. You can actually buy the entire rear housing for 49 bucks. Which has the camera lenses on it. I'm assuming they're just using a 3m double sided tape to hold them on, so you could probably push them out from behind on the housing. And dig and pop out your cracked one, and just restick.
http://www.etradesupply.com/htc-one-rear-housing-back-cover-22030.html
I wonder if I just pop out the glass entirely. Why need lens at all? All it does is protect the camera no?
T-Mobile Chat
I just finished a chat with a T-Mobile support rep and they told me to bring my phone in to a store so they can inspect it and determine my options.
According to the rep "There seems to be an issue with the camera and it makes a popping or crackling sound, this could cause your camera to crack." One of the first things they asked me was if I could hear any sounds when trying to take a picture.
I haven't read anything about these sounds elsewhere, but it sounds like something either HTC is aware of or at least just T-Mobile. I have been praising this phone to everyone I know, but am kind of unsure about the build quality now.
Yeah, looks like you must have looked at it the wrong way.

LOL... I expected the front-facing camera to break from me looking at it - not the rear one!
It is ridiculous that I can bash my screen right now and they will replace it for free. This tiny piece of glass that cracked on its own...too bad. HTC Advantage! :highfive:
Figured I"d mention that this just happened to me also.
I noticed that the pictures I was snapping this weekend were blurry and when I checked out the screen, crack
I keep the phone in an Otterbox too.
We'll see what HTC says
Hi Yakayu,
Was wondering if you managed to fix your problem?
I'm in a similar boat and looking to get the whole rear housing replaced as well and hoping they can fix my camera issues there too
as well as a cracked screen the right side of the camera wont focus and is blurry :/

Case Cracking - Hairline Fractures

Someone sent me a link to a thread where users are reporting cracks on their G3s. Most seem to be around the headphone or USB jacks.
http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-g3-cracked-casing-514460/
I don't have any there, but after reading the thread I started looking at my phone closely and found one right under the IR blaster at the top. It goes from the blaster to the end of the chrome bezel.
I've never dropped my phone, so this seems to have happened with normal use.
Anyone else notice any cracks?
No cracks so far thankfully..but every time I remove the battery cover I can feel the phone chassis flex and it makes me nervous.

Cracks here. Same exact one as all the pictures. Through the mic on bottom of phone. Also one through infrared sensor on top of phone. Got this phone a month ago. Never dropped. Never gotten banged around or dinged on anything.
Should this be under warranty with it being a known issue and LG knowing about it?

Just happened to mine as well. I'm using the ATT version of the phone. I will try to see if they replace the phone.

I just called LG and they told me it was physical damage and not covered under warranty. I emailed them as well and received the same response.

No crack yet, but i had the hardest time getting the USB in the phone to get it rooted. I thought I was going to break something. If it is warrantied just take a hammer to it and call it in to the insurance company? Just Kidding ...
Mine has developed the Crack where the ir blaster is. The USB has been hard to plug in since day 1. Has to be at just the right angle. I'm calling T-Mobile too

Nice! Do you have insurance or Jump!?
I have jump, but it doesn't factor into the exchange. They're chalking up as a faulty device.

Yes they said it is warranty fix
No issues here, thankfully.
I wonder how wide spread this issue is.
Is the thinking that these devices came this way unnoticed or that this happens spontaneously?

Broke Nexus 5x screen :(

Yesterday I dropped my phone while on call from the ear to floor(~6 ft). I think it hit a stone at top right corner near front camera. The screen is shattered and crack propagated from the corner to the entire screen. The frame is also damaged a bit. Even though everything works fine fortunately, using the phone is uncomfortable as I have to strain myself to read.
I wanted to change the display manually and saw some videos. It looks like 'can be done'. But I cant find original LG screen online anywhere. I contacted the service centre and they replied it would cost 7200/- INR (109 US$). I personally opt original screen because of the screen calibration.
What to do? Can you guys suggest something?
Thanks.
I use these guys.

Lenovo p2 replacement screen

Hi I'm wondering where I could source a replacement screen for this device as none of my local phone repair shops seem to be able to source one
http://s.aliexpress.com/BRzQZBBV
Here you go and good luck with the replacement
P.S.

Bump
Has anybody got a reliable source? There seems to be a global shortage of these bloody screens and besides the official Lenovo replacement costing 90% of the price of the phone, there are no other options available anywhere. Nothing on AliExpress, BangGood, Alibaba, eBay and anywhere else in my coutry.

+1. Cracked my screen last week, still fully functional but crack pattern is expanding and I don't trust it to be usable for a long time to come.
Been searching for replacement screen assembly but found nothing. Going to try contacting Lenovo technical support in my country now...
Lenovo tech support pointed me to a repair firm.
Repair firm asks to send the phone in, after which they provide a quote. If I don't agree to get it fixed, I have to pay a few tens for problem analysis. Like wtf, it's a cracked screen, you change it, it's a standard job with a standard cost that you can give me before I send it in!
Called another repair firm. They can't get the screen.
Apparently these screens are just not available.
They are on Aliexpress right HERE.
Expensive as hell though, considering you can get a new P2 for 180 euro's or a new screen for 160.

Thanks, that one is gone again though. And yeah at that price it's ridiculous.
But I've just found this: https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/For-...lgo_pvid=b8eb5b04-c098-4a2b-a5ea-f9e34e6da00f
$113, which amounts to €94, with free shipping. This seems acceptable.

Seems like nowhere.
The order I made on aliexpress was subsequently cancelled because of it being "out of stock".
Options at this point seem limited to:
1. get it fixed for stupid money (not even sure whether any fixing service can get their hands on it)
2. try to locate a damaged second-hand phone with working screen you can buy for less
3. if your LCD and touch input still work fine like mine, just put up with it and wait for some months until people start upgrading and the asking prices for second-hand models start to drop
4. meanwhile, search on aliexpress or ebay every single day and hope a screen gets available for an acceptable price
I dropped my phone yesterday and the screen shattered from end to the other but the phone is working fine. I have just ordered the replacement front glass off of ebay for £19.99 from HK but seems a bit too cheap to me but worth a gamble at that price. Only problem is I have no idea how to take the phone apart and separate the glass from the digitizer! Are there instructions about I could follow or is my best bet taking it to a mobile phone repair shop to get it done?
I can post the ebay number if anyone is interested.

You tube. Check the entire display removal tutorial. Then check glass replacement tutorial for galaxy s8.
After taking off display, you have to chip off the glass from display after heating it with a hot air gun. Then remove the residual UV glue from panel. Then after making sure panel is clean, apply new UV glue on center, then place glass on top and then press from center gently to spread the glue evenly and that's it.

Thank you but i'm never going to manage to do that myself, I don't own a hot air gun for a start. Looks like i've wasted £20 plus the postage as I doubt i'll find a mobile phone repair shop to do it for me, i'd happily pay someone to do it if I could find someone!
