Hi,
I've just bought a drone with a 5,8 Ghz Wifi camera in order to do Back control video.
The problem is that my oppo Find 7 can't detect this Wifi signal. Why?
It seem's to be an Android limitation because it appears that Iphones do not have any problems.
Do you think it is possible to bypass this with a custom Kernel?
Regards
Steph.

Today morning I got a mail from developerATbadaDOTcom(i can't post e-mail address due to low post count ) for bada 2.0.0 b1 sdk release. Ya I got the access to the sdk , many others also might have got the mail. In that they had mentioned new features of the sdk followed by notes. One thing which they had mentioned in the notes was a bit questionable. It said : You cannot use NFC and Wi-Fi direct features in previously released bada devices due to hardware limitations. Upcoming devices with full support are required.
Does this mean users of S8500, S8530 and other WAVE models won't have Wi-Fi direct or does it seems to be a mistake from their side to mention it like that?
Sorry to post in this section, I couldn't post in Bada Software Development, again due to lack of posts.
no
Wifi-direct is not the same as NFC
Wave I & II doesn't have NFC chip so they can't use NFC apps
it is so normal to get this
Best Regards
I know that working of NFC requires some hardware. Just wanted to know the same about Wi-Fi direct.
wifi direct will not be available on all 'old' wave models, wifi-direct technology needs different hardware (like 802.11N do not work on old 802.11G chip..)
I was under impression that it can be supported through software if the device is Wi-Fi capable. Thanks for clarifying it.

As I know, Wifi direct donĀ“t need new hardware because is only a protocol over Wifi.
802.11N vs 802.11G is different, because it operates in different frequences, so it needs different hardware.
The galaxy S has wifi direct feature(as mentioned in wikipedia).... So probably the wave and wave 2 has it too... I think the devices that support wifi hotspot feature can use wifi direct.....
Wifi Direct & Bluetooth 3.0:
1.Transfer speed : almost similar to Bluetooth 3.0(7.28 mb in 27 sec @ 2.15mbps video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7UhqLu4hKg from 1:00)
2.Other possibilities: In gaming wifi direct could make multiplayer connection, etc......
Anyways most of us use Bluetooth & wifi direct mostly for file transfer, we would not be losing any great feature from our waves but those who need wifi direct for other purposes which is not available in Bluetooth 3.0 would be a bit unhappy in-case we don't get Wifi direct.
wave s8500 and s8530
both have 802.11 b/g/n
that means it can operate wifi direct
but not NFC because it needs extra hardware
I correct myself, wifi-direct needs particoular hardware but probably wave s8500/8530 have it. (wikipedia says galaxy S is certified for wifi-direct and the hardware is probably the same)

I read at various places that Wi-Fi direct can achieve max speed of the standard the device supports, means a 802.11n compatible device can achieve a speed of 300Mbps (theoretical) when connected via WiFi direct. So it might be a plus over Bluetooth 3.0.

Oops.. Sorry for a misguiding video... here is the one which shows the real capability of Wifi direct:http://thehandheldblog.com/2011/06/20/wifi-direct-galaxy-s2/
Theoretically Wave should have wifi direct because:
1. Galaxy s is wifi direct certified device
2. Wave & Galaxy s have same wifi chip Broadcomm bmc4329.

Hoping for wifi direct on wave........
I asked @samsungbada on twitter regarding this. Now awaiting their reply. In the meanwhile can anyone who has upgraded to leaked bada 2.0 confirm that Wi-Fi direct is there or not?
I can confirm that it is not there
wave supports wifi direct
read its data sheet!
the firmware has wifi direct named as all share!!!!!!...........lol
It is not the same
look at this video to understand what we mean

It's just like quick setup or PBS feature. The speeds are nothing special. Standard Wan Speeds. Should be possible on Wave.
Are you sure about Wave don't supporting NFC? I read somewhere that Wave has this chip. What about gold pins next to case opening button?
NFC is definitely not there, still unclear about Wi-Fi direct.
does our xperia play will get a bluetooth tethering in its new official update of android 4?
I tested the rom by doomlord, it has bluetooth tethering option in settings, but it didn't worked. Anyone knows, where we are going to get that?
Bluetooth tethering? Lol. Bluetooth tethering is not even needed nowadays as most of the gadgets in today's times already come with Bluetooth preloaded.

Chances are "No" for getting BT tether or DUN via BT in the official ICS release. BT is remarkably slow for most devices, even with EDR BT 2.x+ , Really need to be using BT 3 or BT 4 to see any kind of decent PAN speeds.
Still, I've seen a few apps that do tethering that support bluetooth. I think "Barnacle" supports it, if it likes your chipset. Although they may have removed it in more recent versions.
It is possible to do if you have root (or the right ROM), but is unlikely to be very supported. Most people prefer WiFi tethering.

Not sure anyone will be able to help with this appreciate its a long shot, i've bought a Garmin Vivosmart fitness tracker and it connects to the phone via Bluetooth, now it all works mint except if i go out of range with the bluetooth the phone and garmin are supposed to reconnect automatically but it doesn't i have to unpair and then repair which isn't the end of the world but is a pain in the backside, looking on the garmin forums lots of people with M8's saying the same so there seems to be an issue with the way HTC - Garmin bluetooth works, some phones seem to work perfect (as in other android phones) so it doesn't seem a generic android-garmin issue, just wondering if anyone has had the same issue with any other bluetooth equipment and managed to find a cure ?
also if anyone know if custom roms mess about with bluetooth and the way it works, tempted to try an AOSP rom or CM to see if the bluetooth works properly but i do like sense so would prefer to stick with what i got, using Insertcoins Sense 7 rom, might go back to official sense 6 and see if that works also...
thanks for any suggestions...

It worked fine for me with KitKat.
Friday evening I upgraded to LolliPop. (Did a clean install, no data restore from backup)
Since then I have the same problem. Once you lose your Bluetooth connection it won't reconnect anymore.
You have to unpair and the repair in order to be connected again. A real pain in the ass, as I use it only for the notifications on the bracelet.
I have had a Vivosmart since the week they came out. I had a lot of the BT issues the first few months (mainly due to their software being released before it was really production ready) but has been fine since. I'm rooted and have ran a few different roms without an issue. Currently I'm using SkyDragon's Sense 7 rom. I haven't had to pair to my phone due to disconnects for at least a couple months. Are you pairing from with-in the Connect app? At one time the pairing was done via the regular android BT devices but they got rid of that and now pair from the app only. So technically your Vivosmart shouldn't ever show up on the list of installed/connected BT devices because it's only paired from the Connect app. I'm sure you've been on the garmin forum but if you haven't or someone else reading this hasn't it's here https://forums.garmin.com/forumdisplay.php?478-vivosmart. I've seen posts over there about m8 users having problems but don't remember reading if anyone was able to get the problem fixed and what they did. It doesn't make sense that it works for some (like me).
Hello,
I have same problem with Garmin Fenix 3. Apparently there is some bug in HTC ONE M8 Android 5.0.1
I am able to connect and connection is quite stable but watch wont reconnect automatically.
Usually it will reconnect once you reset BT on phone and than on watch. But its quite annoying so I am also looking for solutions. Any idea? Ive tried to add watch to trusted device under smart lock but its not working either. I know most Garmin devices worked on previous version of android on HTC ONE M8 but with Lollipop its bugged..

G'day wakers,
I have had exactly the same problem with my m8. I also have only used insertcoin rom which may be part of the problem as I have an identical m8 with stock lollipop (never unlocked or rooted) and it has no problems with the vivosmart or Garmin Fenix BLE connection.
I have since sold my m8 and traded up to an m9, which is still stock, but I'm reluctant to flash custom Rom as the Bluetooth works perfectly... On the other hand, stock roms drive me mental with bloatware and ads.
If you try another Rom I'd be very interested to hear how you go...as it may give me some confidence to unlock my brand new m9.
Cheers.

I'm experiencing an even worst problem with no pairing at all with my fenix 3 and Garmin Connect with Cyanogenmod 12.1 .
I've done the test with a Samsung SII, Oneplus X and Oneplus One. All pairing fail and all with Cyanogenmod 12.1
It's working well with a Samsung Galaxy S5 ! So if one Cyanogenmod developper is reading this, can you please let us know if this bug is known, or if you can log it, and i can help some troubleshooting as well.

Solution found on my side by realizing that one dialog box is not scaled in Garmin Connect and so the "yes" button is not visible in material design. I've understood this by rolling back to Cyanogenmod 11 and see the process.
Workaround is to use a language with shorter words like english. My initial set was in French. So if it can help somebody else with Garmin Connect, use it
Hello all,
Is there a possibility to enable MirrorLink on our precious P2's? As far as I know, Lenovo/Motorolo do not support MirrorLink. Don't know if this is software enabled (the phone should support USB OTG, so the P2 has this) or a hardware restriction.
Should be nice to get MirrorLink working on the device
Thanks in advance
I'm interested too
Anybody managed to use mirrorlink on P2 ?
Anybody got connected P2 with car like VW/Audi/Skoda/Seat Infotainment ?
No chance?
A year later, sure looks like no chance
Mirrorlink android auto
Dear Friend.
I have used the VIBE P2 for a long time.
you got to be rooted to use ANDRIOD AUTO it perfectly works with any custom ROM.
Im using the RR ROM which fits best to my requirements including one of the priorities ANDROID AUTO.
I had a SEAT LEON EXCELLENCE (2018) connected perfectly. Now Im driving a SKODA KAROQ (2019) also perfect connection.
If you want to go further than just mirroring your phone, you can use the extra AA UNLOCK app which gives you the possibility to mirror your device screen on the CARS SCREEN. Only problem with the AA unlock is that the device has to be always on screen unlocked.
I hope this answer your questions and it helps you.

Hi, i'm trying to solve an interferance problem of a huawei p20 lite ane-LX3 with some wireless earbuds.
Long story short, the phone doesn't have 5ghz natively, and i was wondering if this was due to software.
Question is, if i were to install Lineage, would i be able to connect to a 5ghz wi/fi and avoid the interference issue?
Thx

No. LineageOS uses the hardware drdivers from stock ROM. Sometimes you get less functionality due to undocumented interfaces. Never heard of a improved hardware support.
