I've just been killing myself trying to do a bootanimation (using yours as a template)...FAIL!!!
Then, just now, I saw the PM you sent me.
I think I did everything you prescribed, but still....FAIL!!!
I've attached the file and wonder if you could take a look at it and maybe see where I've gone wrong.

link fixed, sorry just a typo error.
I use Animation Shop to convert them to gif and GIFFrame to extract the individual frames

downloading your file, I will have a look in a bit, whats wrong with it?
edit : I extracted the files, all look fine. repacked your zip file with compression method "STORE" and it all works fine, plays a little slow but works just play with the value in desc.txt to get the speed you want

However, I thought I did pack it as "STORE". ???
Using 7zip, in "Add to archive" I chose ZIP then STORE.
What app do you use to create the zip file?
And one last question ...
Do you have any tips on image/frame selection and/or tweaking the desc.text to help it play smoothly?

Works on every phone, every android version and everywhere

Strange can't seem to work on kang's 4.0.3. I was on the optimised nexus boot animation, it reverted back to kang's default animation after I replaced the optimised boot with this one

ok, solved... realize pushing it through via ADB is better than using file explorer, copying pasting >.< thought it's supposed to be the same, but somehow ADB just gives me less problems

Really? I've been trying for two days, thinking it's a temp glitch.
It must be being blocked by one of my antivirus proggys.
Anyways, I got it now. Thanks!
I ran the generic bios boot screen on my Captivate. It's good to see a device specific bios boot animation for the Gnex!

Run Only Once
This might be a noob question, so bear with me. Is it possible to make boot animations run only once? It doesn't make sense to me for a BIOS bootscreen to loop XD
EDIT: NVM! Did a quick google search and found that you can adjust the speed, pause times, and loop count by editing the desc.txt file.

Thanks bro. Tested the bootanimation and really love it. I used it on ARHD 13.4 so it's working on that one too.
I only noticed the average quality on your bootanimation. Is there a way you can push the quality a bit higher?
Also, if you can find a matching bootsound, then this one could be the best.

My first attempt to make a theme, so it might not be "perfect", but it's "good enough" and it works fine.

Thanks to @nathajoz for the base-ui.zip
Rename to "ui.zip" put it in /sdcard/TWRP/theme.
If you don't have a "theme"-folder in there, just create one.
Reboot to recovery and it loads automaticly.
Works on all devices with 480X800 running twrp 2.6.XX-2.6.3.0.

I've had a close look on the holo theme and it's not that easy to port as I wished it was. With me, having three kids and all, that project would go on forever. Haha.

I reuploaded the ZIP. Sony messed up the bootanimation.zip.
Funny, they put the same bootanimation.zip inside the main bootanimation.zip. That's why the size was about 16MB, now it's half of that.

Huh? First of all, it's not "mine".
Second, this is merely the modern Xperia boot animation but with a black background instead of the usual white one.
I believe that a white background on a dark-colored phone looks ridiculous and very Apple-esque.

So I extracted the bootanimation.zip and replaced it manually in system/media....
But still the 4n boots up with the default bootanimation. Am I missing something

Thanks man, now I won't be blinded anymore when rebooting my phone at night.

Try deleting bootanimation.zip in oem/media.
