[Q] Stuck in ODIN Mode, Please Help! Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hey guys! I'm new to this forum, so bare with me if this thread is in the incorrect category and my limited knowledge of all things Samsung.
My sister had hooked up her Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 to my laptop so that she could print out text messages for court. After a while, she said "something popped up on the screen to download stuff." While whatever this was downloading on my laptop, my (2 y/o demon) nephew pulled her phone off of the cord. When she went to turn it on, the screen said "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." In the upper left-hand corner, it says "ODIN MODE" (in red) with a bunch of information about the phone underneath it. Ughhh, headache an a half so far.
So, I downloaded the Kies program to my laptop and tried doing what the phone (yelled at) asked me to do. However, when I put the IMEI number in like it requested, it said that either that or the model number was wrong and to try again (model number was right). Then I tried the serial number. Then I tried all the other numbers on the frigging box. No luck. -_-
Now, my frustration level is at an all-time high because I can't figure this out. So, I called none other than the Samsung Tech Support. For over an hour, me an STS Jared couldn't figure out how the hell to get this out of ODIN Mode. Now, before you all start spouting ideas and calling me out for stupidity that may be clear to you but completely unclear to me, I have tried the following: removing the battery & powering on, powering down then powering on, & powering down then pressing the volume down button and the power button then selecting the volume down button to not go to the custom OS thing.
Guys, I'm at a loss. Please, what do I do?! I don't want to have to send this to get repaired if I can do it myself.

Flashed to Metro PCS. Need Help getting 3G Data Working for Web

Got tired of google searches giving me the run around.
I have an Galaxy s2 that was previously Flashed and switched to Metro PCS by someone else. The previous owner of the phone (my mother) decided to get the S3 (which Metro actually carries) and gave me the S2 and it's problems, including the dreaded "High Voltage" glitch and all. It's was running on ICS, and after failing the fix the glitch several times, I concluded it was a problem with ICS compatibility and flashed to phone back to stock using this guide: I can't post the link I used to to being a brand new user. I went back to 2.3.6 however. the guide said 2.3.6 el29, not sure if that makes a difference or not.
I got my number transferred to the phone, and while I no longer have the High Voltage problem, I have 2 additional problems. 1 is manageable, 1 is a must-fix for me.
1, the managable: My phone will not turn on properly after I turn it off. When off, the battery icon appears on the screen repeatedly as if it is trying to charge. Holding the power button does not working. Pressing it repeatedly do not work. In order to turn the phone on, I have to boot it in recovery mode by holding the volume up, home, and power buttons, and then selecting "reboot now".
2, the must-fix: No 3G. I am playing 47 dollars a month now, and that price includes internet, but the phone acts as if 3G doesn't even exist on it (no icons appear at the top of the screen indicating it's on/off/trying to turn on etc. Yes I ticked the 3G data box to turn it on). I refuse to pay for internet I am not using and I need this fixed as soon as possible. If I need to reflash, so be it.
Any fixes for any of these 2 issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
I found a guide to solve my most important problem. Ran into snags because the guide was made for the HTC Incredible, but I skipped a set a wasn't able to complete, moved on, and got my desired results anyways. Now I only need help with the first problem.

[Q] Samsung Ace II will not turn on

Hello, new here and I know nothing about rooting nor have I rooted my phone but after looking all over the net I have come here in hopes of finding some tech wizards that can help me.
The Problem:
Turned phone off and a few hours later I tried turning it back on but it only shows the screen with model number and Samsung under it. It shows for a few seconds then the screen goes black and keeps looping like this. I have not rooted or anything. Not dropped in water ( water square is pink though). Phone shows no water damage or corrosion after opening.
What have I done?
I tried booting in recovery and download mode but i have never done it before and I was not successful at getting any other screen besides the model number Samsung screen.
I have tried a different battery after spending some time at the mall (no on carries it any more as it is no longer made) different battery did nothing. Repair guys suggested it may be the button sticking and said hey could clean it for $25. Instead I went home searched the web and disassembled my phone. I cleaned the button areas on the inside of the case and the contact on the inside attached to the circuit board. I have reassembled and it still does the same thing.
After more research I found a video saying to actually remove the internal button from the circuit board to stop the loop (which will leave me with no power button) I have not tried this as I am not that bold (yet).
I am wondering if it is a software problem that can be fixed by using Odin and installing the stock firmware but I just have not found a proper guide that makes enough sense for me to actually try. I don't want to waste my time with something I have never done and make things worse.
I have downloaded Odin and firmware from sammobile but that is about as far as I can go without some hand holding....
Thanks for reading my story any help would be much appreciated.

Try this - Press and hold Volume up + Home + Power buttons together a few seconds, you should get recovery mode. And then find factory reset.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried this many times and tried again after reading your reply. This should work fairly fast from what I understand right?
My phone is a virgin mobile phone (Canada) is it possible they have locked out recovery / download modes?
When I try to start in recovery nothing happens at all. Screen does not light, phone does not vibrate. Again I have never tried this until now so I don't know if the phone ever booted into these special modes when it was working.

It's weird. I found something on page hard-reset.com. I cannot post link here now. I put "samsung ace2 recovery" into google and it was on first page. It's hard reset key combination. Try it.
When you plug the phone into the charger, do you get the battery charging status screen?

Samsung Note II (Sprint) - Hard Brick Phone?

Hey guys, I am brand new on this site, and not a tech person in the least, to my detriment. Ok, here is my story: yesterday after work, I was on my Note II talking to my wife. When I hung up, I went in to my local Sprint store because I noticed that my 3-year old phone was having some issues, including (1) an error message popping up whenever I clicked on google that said "unfortunately google search has stopped - that had occurred for a couple days before yesterday; (2) a message that would pop up whenever I re-booted my phone that said something like "UID Partitions Inconsistent" with a message underneath of "I'm feeling lucky," which I had to click on as it was the only way to get to my home screen - that had occurred over the weekend; and (3) the 90 some voice mails I had in my voice mail all disappeared yesterday morning, replaced by 3 or 4 "welcome to Voicemail" voice mails, as if I had just bought the phone.
So, I go in to the Sprint store, I click the side button so I can get to the shut down or restart screen, and I hit restart. From that moment forward, my phone has gone completely dark and dead. The Sprint techs couldn't get it to turn on, they tried every combination of pressing buttons, and they tried turning it on with the USB cable - there was and is absolutely no activity on my phone. The battery had been newly charged, so it has about 90% juice. I have done some google research and it looks like a hard bricked phone? The thing is, I never rooted my phone (quite frankly, I don't even know what that means), I didn't "flash" ROM on it (whatever that means too - I am only now familiar with those terms based on my brief research), or do anything else differently with it than I have for the past three years. I am stressed out because I had about 400 pics on there that were not backed up. I just want to get it restored, if only temporarily, to get my pics back, or even just a portion of them.
Is there any remedy whatsoever, or am I screwed?? Please help! Thanks!

Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition not booting up/ firmware issue

i have this awesome tablet for a good time. it's the wifi edition with 16gb black. this week i noticed when the tablet goes on rest mode, the screen turns dark (as usual) but when i want to us the tablet, the screen remains dark. i could hear the notification. i had to restart the device and quickly start using the tablet before the screen goes dark again. i noticed the message on the screen stating "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in kies and try again." i connected my tablet to my laptop and no success. i called samsung and they told me to press the vol+, power button & home key for 40 secs and nothing happened.
i am turning to the great forum to ask for help. all my stuffed are on the tablet memory. at this point i don't care about it as long as someone can help me bring my awesome tablet back to life. i never rooted it at all.
please, help me.
I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to this kind of thing, but I do know that on the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition booting into recovery is slightly different than it is on most other Samsung devices. Where most Samsung's are power button + volume up + home key (like Samsung rep said), with the Note 10.1 2014 edition it's just the first two, power + volume up. Here is a link that will describe step by step how to do it as getting the timing right can be a little bit tricky if you have not done it before. http://mobileaddons.blogspot.com/2014/05/how-to-hard-reset-factory-reset-samsung_9205.html There is probably the same instructions here on xda somewhere if you do a search... I just googled it and that is what it gave me. If you need end up having to boot it in download mode, thats the power and volume down keys, just push and hold both (if I remember correctly). It sounds like it may have attempted to update to lollipop but the update failed for whatever reason, but I could be wrong. What exactly did the Samsung rep tell you to do? a hard reset/factory reset (which will wipe all your stuff), or did they say to attempt the update via kies? Just curious
hi thebadwrench, i followed and tried the instructions you shared and my tablet does not respond at all it stays dark and does not even respond when i plug the charger in. there are no feedback or sounds at all. i do not know what else to do.
Hmmmm. You may have a hardware failure if it is not responding to anything at all. I know others have experienced problems with the screen flickering and/or quit working as result of a loose or disconnected electrical connection internally. It might be worth removing the rear cover of your tablet to look for something like that. I don't know how comfortable you'd be with that, but it's actually pretty easy to do. I recently replaced both the battery and charging port on mine and posted some pictures in this thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10-2014/help/q-instructions-tips-replacing-usb-t3345093 I'd just disconnect both ribbon cables and reconnect them. While your in there (and this has worked for some people) simply unplugging the battery for a few minutes then reconnect it. Kinda resets the tablet (you shouldnt lose anything saved on tablet, assuming your able to revive it). If your not comfortable with digging into your tablet, take it to a phone/electronics repair place and for a fee they could do it for you, or better yet they may be able to diagnose the problem definitively. Other than that, I'm out of ideas. Sorry to hear that your having issues, let us know what happens
I followed the steps and my screen is back on but it is stuck in recovery mode. It shows the green Android guy and says downloading but nothing for the last 10 minutes. What do I do?
Good to hear you got your screen back on. As for it being stuck in recovery mode... just to clarify, what exactly did you do to get it to the screen its on now (i. e. did you just attempt to power it on, or pwr + vol. up buttons, etc). It might be best to just send me a personal message...
How do I send you a personal message?
Just click on my username, then click "send message"

Weird bricked GT-I9195 stuck on black screen after Samsung logo

So, unluckily today i find myself here lookin' for help with my phone. I had already took a look on other brick threads, but i can't find an appropriate answer to my problem.
I'm (i was) running lineage-14.1-20170602-nightly, i had ne0zone75's TWRP 3.1.0.0-0, and that's how the brick came in a strange way; i was simply on XDA Labs app browsing the forum, when i received a call. I've answered, and when i shut off the call the phone shut off immediately after. I thought it was a reboot, but keeping pressed the power button didn't switched on the phone anymore. So i've tried to remove the battery and re insert it after some minutes, but the only thing i can get is the screen with the samsung logo that goes all black after 5 seconds. I already had other bricks due some errors of mine in the past, but this time it's really difficult.
1: I can't access recovery mode. Ow, how i wish i could.
2: I can access download mode, but after that i reach the ODIN MODE screen with the details of product binary, KNOX, ecc. the phone shuts off again.
3: If i keep the power button pressed, the phone doesn't starts. It only starts if i replug the battery in, but after some seconds it shuts off again.
4: How could a call as another mess up the whole phone?
5: I didn't installed nothing new from at least a week... yesterday an automatic update of the Play Store took place, but except that nothing has been changed. Nothing of nothing! No settings, no apps...
What could i do? Installing Kies with Samsung drivers could help me flashing a stock rom for example? Because at the moment, there isn't too much that i can do with the phone in this state... I hope this little jewel won't have to become a stone to be thrown away. Any help would be great, and really appreciated. Thanks in advance...
Things has got worse. Now my device doesn't starts at all; no vibrations, no signs of life, nothing. I've tried even to put it for 6 hours in my refrigerator, because i've read that the cold temperature could be helpful to fix some broken contacts on some component, but i'm losing hope 'bout it. I supposed that at this point is something hardware-based and not software, because it's just impossible that a call like an other one could be the cause of this hard brick... The only thing is that if connected to my PC, it is being showed as QHSUSB_LOAD. I'll try some methods that i've seen in other forums, like softwares that tries to fix this, but i think that i'll be forced to buy a new device. Neither an usb-jig could help me to force the download mode if the phone is dead in every aspect... the only thing that i still didn't understood, is if a debrick.img on my SD card (sadly i've read that a microSD class 10 with at least 16 GB is required, and i don't have one) could help somehow on a situation like this one of not. Still no one could advice me with some tip, guys
Edit - feel free to close this thread, I have another phone now
