Q: Android multi task button - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Any way to get the multi task button to replace the settings button to get more of the stock android feel? Hopefully without rooting... thanks!

It's possible, but only with root. You need to install xposed and g2 xposed module.

[A] Mods without hacking APKs or custom rom (multiwindow any app)

Install and run Exploit apk to get root:
Install XposedInstaller-ICS_JB-rc2.apk, follow instructions on post.
Install XposedMultiWindow.apk.
Open the Xposed Installer app (installed in step 2). Click 'Modules', then check 'xMulti Window Mod', and reboot. (activates the run-time patch allowing all apps to be multiwindow compatible).
BTW, there are more cool Xposed modules (like call recording, per-app dpi, and no 100% battery notification) you can download here. Xposedframework eliminates the need for stock rom chefs imho.
Amazing

So if I installed the new stock deodexed rooted Rom from teshxx (which has the new Tmo multi window update) I can still use the above method to add multiple apps to multiwindow?

How do I know if the multi-window works? I followed all these steps, but what I got is exactly the same as before. Where is the multi-window and how to call it out? Tried long press the return button but nothing happened. Or it does not work for T-mobile device?
I have completed the installation and have to admit that this made my night. Huge props to the person who developed this. Installing on my partners note 2 as well. Looking forward to seeing what else xposed comesbup with

Did you do the T-mobile update from yesterday? If so toggle multi window on in Settings--->Display. If you've done that then hold down your back button for a couple seconds the multi window should pop up at the left. You can hold back to hide it again.

Updated the subject. As the post above states, you need to be running the newest update.
This situation is an excellent example of why the xposed framework is such a great way to mod.
Had this been a standard flash patch, you would likely have force closes, or worse a soft brick.
With xposed, those problems are a thing of the past. If it can't hook the mod in, nothing happens (just as you are seeing). Hopefully in a future release there will be some indicator if a mod cant be hooked in.
Nevermind... got it working. F'n awesome, thank you!
Thank you for posting this mod. This made my day - I like keeping my phones with stock rom for as long as I can for stability sakes, and this mod is just what I needed.
Are there any draw backs to this mod? I was reading the original Exploit apk post and some are talking about a green camera screen.

If you just root through the app you'll be fine. The green camera screen happens when you check the boxes to actually disable the exploit.

Can someone please answer this? I don't want to get this mod and have every single app of mine show up on the multi window list, I just want a certain selection of apps
edit: nevermind, I installed it and you get to choose the apps to add to the list if anyone is wondering. They don't all just show up on the bar, you get a list of yours app and you edit the bar to choose what you want to add
Maybe you misunderstood him? All apps will only show when you click on edit. From that edit screen, you can then drag specific apps over to the multiview bar. After you're done editing, only apps you dragged over will show on the bar.
So two different things here: edit screen and the bar itself.
Hello everyone.
One question on this root process, can we install and use overclock applications such as SetCPU and TunerPro?
And if we had to, can the process be reversed and go back to stock unroot Note II?
Thank you.

1. Yes, once you're rooted, you can use apps that request root like SetCPU, Titanium Backup, AdAway, etc.
2. Yes, if you're on stock rom and recovery, you just go to SuperSu > Settings > Full Unroot.
Wow thanks that's the fastest root i have done. ALSO easy to be on Stock rom and have multi Window with every single app. Much thanks

Remember to uncheck the disable exploit boxes before unrooting, or you won't be able to re-root using the exploit.

xposed has a module called "gravity box" probably for most versions of android that might can do it. root required as is xposed framework.
just search for xposed or xposed modules if you decide to try.

Double tap on lockscreen to lock (switch off screen)

Hi Folks -
Does anyone know a way to double tap the "lockscreen" to have the phone lock (or switch off screen display).
This is a very popular/common option in Custom ROMs. But I haven't been able to locate this independently.
I've tried Nova launcher for double tap to screen off, but that doesn't work on lockscreen. None of the apps on the playstore seem to work on the lockscreen.
This is a useful feature where in one can check the notifications on the lockscreen and switch off the screen without unlocking the phone.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much for the reply.
Could you please provide instruction steps to install Xposed and status bar sleep module? I always get confused on whether Xposed needs to be installed through magdisk or not?
Thanks in advance.

Before you jump into the deep end, ask yourself if your need to pass safety net out weighs your desire to double tap. If you use android pay, probably not...

"The Flash" has an awesome guide on how to get your phone set up. It's right here on XDA under our device. After you get magisk installed, look for the systemless Xposed module under downloads in the magisk app. Click on it and there will be a link for the Xposed apk that goes with the systemless version. Just make sure you have a backup, or factory image, or a way to recover your phone in case of a booboo. Hope this could help; there is some really nice tools & guides here on XDA under our phone's forum.

Thanks for responding.
I was thinking of setting up a dual partition with one slot rooted and the other non-rooted. So when I need to access android pay (or any other safety net app), I can just reboot and switch to the non-rooted slot. So after flashing factory img on both slots, flash magdisk+kernel of one slot and let the other not have magdisk.
Anyway, I think I would use the double tap lockscreen feature way more than I use Android pay. It also saves a lot of battery life. I'll search here for guide to install Xposed Modules? Is there anything specific for the Pixel 2 XL?

there is a magisk version of xposed that you can switch off with a reboot. just an FYI since using it is probably easier than trying to dual boot

Thank you. I already have Kernel, Magdisk etc installed. I was looking for instructions for the Xposed Module specifically and did not find a guide for that.
So basically after installing the Xposed Module from within magdisk, just installed Status bar to sleep? Is it as simple as that?
And for next month, while dirty flashing to the new factory images, can this module be uninstalled so that one is close to stock before flashing away? Thanks in advance.

the magisk module is in the mgisk manager repo. flash it, then install this xposed apk https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4337506&d=1511193653
info from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-systemless-xposed-t3388268
Or use the Nova Launcher which has an option for double tap to sleep.

I was able to uncheck the module in Xposed installer and did reboot. But this does not help with Safety net. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
I Installed XposedInstaller_3.1.4_Magisk.apk. From Magisk Manager modules installed Xposed Framework SDK 27.
Could not install StatusBarSleep from XposedInstalled since it force closed when I tried to install. So installed the module through the Xposed repository on the internet.
However if I uncheck the module in Xposed installer and uncheck Xposed framework in Magisk - and reboot. After doing this, still don't pass Safety net check.
Could you please tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thank you.

I use the Nova Launcher and double tap to sleep. But I really wanted double tap on lockscreen. This does NOT work in Nova Launcher. The double tap action only works in the launcher..
did u ever get this working or did you have to goto a custom rom?

Is there a way to turn the "Advanced Power Menu" in MIUI (P)?

Hello,
I was wondering if there was a way to enable the Advanced Power Menu in MIUI 11 on Android P allowing you to quickly reboot to bootloader, fastboot, recovery for instance.
I know I can do that from MIUI update screen or if rooted from Magisk Manager module page, however that option is very handy to quickly reboot to what we want.
That option used to be in the developer options, but it is not there anymore. Maybe it is hidden somewhere?
Or would you know any other way to enable it?
Thanks in advance,
Regards.

No built-in solution AFAIK. You still need a root for that.
There is a magisk module out there that do that thing, but I forget that module.
Or mod your systemui, but that will take some time.
Another alternative is use Reboot Xtream, small apps that do its job. But still, it requires root.
