There is no such thing as "best rom", It's subjective and just own opinion. To find your answer try some and find out what is "best" for you.
Alternatively use common sense, Do you think you're the only person to have ever asked this question? Use search and read topics that already exist, no need for another.
Every ROM is the BEST! Ask anyone currently using any ROM...they have found it is the BEST for THEM. Battery life is dependent on kernel, kernel settings, syncs that YOU set up, signal strength, brightness,..and many other non-ROM settings which YOU set up. Air Command features you will find listed in the OP of the ROM if they are working or not.
Happy flashing!

Hi All
I know I'm prob not the first to think of this but I'm like to know who's using what roms and which is the most popular at the momement. Maybe after a week or so, I'll do an update with a tally of the most popular Roms long with the overview of why.
For me I'm using DJ Droid 1.5. Its seems to be nice and stable I've not hit any major bugs apart from the weather module which will not allow me to save the option to update automatically.
I.
Reverved for me
I choose AuraxTSense v7.8.1 as my first ROM.
Reasons: seems stable, has camera, nice complete package, no weird langauge issues to be expected.
MIUI looks nice too, that's gonna be my next one to give a try.
Moved to Q&A as not development.
These threads are pointless as ROM choice is completely subjective. Just because I used an HD ROM doesn't mean everyone else wants to use it
You just have to try different ROMs and see what works for you
What I am trying to do is get an overview what what's the most popular and why. Like the rest of us we all have been trying different ones for different reasons. I'm just trying to get a overall picture of what and why. Maybe there is one out there I've missed and I'd like to have a go at.

Hello everyone, I just move from my my X inspire from at&t, now I just get a Galaxy s3, so I'm really new is threaded so I want to know is somebody in this community can help me with some simples answer; we know the sg3 is really fast, smooth and beautiful for default, but I want to know:
1. How can I root this phone Galaxy S3?
2. What benefits I get when I rooted the Galaxy S3?
3. What kind of rom is available AOSP, AOKP, MIUI, AND TOUCHWIZZ? Or is another different available?
4. What is the most stables roms for this device? MIUI, AOSP, AOKP, TOUCHWIZZ, somebody can please give a recommendation of each one?
Thanks in advise

How to root: Dev section, I recommend the "root from recovery" zip by Team [Name here that i forgot]
What benefits: themes, apps (wifi tether), more customization all around, removing bloatware, just more control over your phone (equivalent to becoming an admin on your desktop when you were a normal user before)
Roms available: All of those are available, check the dev section. The only type that isnt out there yet is Sense, but check often because there are many trying to port that to the S3
Stable roms: not an acceptable question, mods close threads that ask this as its up to you to determine what you will like and what features and option you consider a rom needs in order to be stable.
Thank you so much for take some of your time to answer all my questions, so now Mod can you please close this thread, and again thanks

Hey everybody! I did a search before posting this and couldn't find an answer so here is my question...
I was thinking of switching over to a TW rom but I don't really know what the main difference is in terms of features and bugs. Also, what is everything I need to do to switch over?
I am running Beanstalk which I believe is CM10.1 based.
Thanks for the help!
features are basically what the new rom includes and bugs are small problems that may be being worked on.

Thanks for the reply but I'm trying to compare the features of those types of roms with what I have
well of course some(awesome) features included in cm10.1 will not be able in tw, preferably cm10.1 has many more features than any tw rom, the themeing ability and the new privacy guard.

I would read through the rom op and decide which one appeals to you. As for asking about the differences. Nobody can answer that man because they are all different...they are after all custom roms..But just look around and when you find one you like...Follow the op.I would think you would benefit from reading through the stickies and some guides also. There is a great amount of knowledge to be had in this forum...Good Luck. and use that search button..
are there any TW roms that give us the quick reply like in CM for messaging?
Im only partially familiar with roms and flashing(used to flash optimus V until I upgraded to a phone with no devs working on it XD ), I was fairly familiar with a cyanogenmod port for my op-V and liked that.
Anyways more specifically im not familiar with any of the devs or their products and was wondering which rom will give me the most preformace and lowest battery drain?
or is it too soon in the nexus 7's life to determine this kinda thing?
should I just stick with stock for now?
also if you have any words of advice or such so a new nexus 7, I'd love to here em.
just flash every rom out there and decide which ever is the "best" for you then stay with it .
What exactly do you find wrong with the stock rom? My thoughts on custom roms have always been if it isn't broke don't fix it.

Options and features.... for example Cyanogenmod has a ton of features that the original ROM doesn't have. Also speed sometimes dictates switching roms. Alot of custom roms are striped down and are faster also.

Not about fixing, but improving
Paranoid Android is fast becoming a personal favorite. Tablet UI is how things ought to be. It's very easy to make a backup image, backup apps, and just start flashing. Now's a good time to start, too, as it's early and the selection is fairly limited. It will only grow from here..

if you like stock and want the ability to choose what you want, cleanrom is great

Very true what you guys say, stock ROM is great and all but I love to see all the cool features people put out in their custom Roms.

I flashed every ROM that was available, that after I backed-up my original stock ROM. It's the only way you'll find which one you like the most. My 2 best options are ParanoidAndroid 3 and CyanogenMod Kangs, but I love the stability and speed of latter. It's all about preferences, just read a lot of comments of what users say and that also can help you.
Update: I love too much the custom ROMS, the customizing and the utilities they add are just fantastic. That's why I never stay with a stock ROM.
CleanROM if you just want a basic ROM like stock without all the bloatware.
ParanoidAndroid if you want a ton of features to play around with. Some are buggy at the moment and performance won't be as good as it would be with CleanROM but I think it's worth it for the features.
Hello,
I am looking for a custom ROM that is based on the stock builds but, debloated, rooted, and fast. I have always found these for Captivate, and S2. I can't seem to find one for the S3.
The open source ROMs are super slick and cool, but, I actually prefer the way stock Samsung handles the dialer, contacts, email, and messaging. As this is 90% of my usage, it is 90% of my enjoyment.
I do like the speed and options available in a custom ROM though. I need a daily driver with options
Any recommendations?
Thanks...DCF

I concur.
XDA is a development site not a support site. As such members are expected to do the research, read through the development threads and decide what is BEST for them. The only results that would be posted here are what each member has found to be BEST for them by experimentation based on their phone/usage/setup/apps/signal strength. Please take the time to read through those development threads to learn all about the software you are about to drastically alter your very expensive device with.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.
