[Q] [APP REQUEST] Appli. which can restrict another application's permissions/rights - Galaxy Note 3 Neo Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have been looking for an application which can restrict or can allow to control permissions of another application.
I want to disable internet connectivity permission of some applications. Is this possible as this can result into convenient use as well it can help in saving the battery life.
If anyone is aware about the same, please let me know.
Model - Samsung Note 3 Neo
I dont prefer to root the model as of now.
Thanks

If you are still in jelly bean, you can use app ops.
Though, it doesnt have capability to disable internet connection.
It can, however, disable permission such as contacts, location request, etc.

[Q] Interest in a security / privacy focused ROM?

Hello and good day,
I haven't found any approach in this and ask this to everybody here around. Is there any interest in a security / privacy focused ROM that has the following features:
internet traffic through TOR
GPG / PGP KeyChain with Apps that support GPG / PGP
no apps that are calling home in any way
no facebook integration (but still possible to use facebook chat with OTR encryption)
without google play (add on possible) and focused on free software
possibillity to encrypt the whole phone OR specific folders
possibility to encrypt SMS text messages
Skype / WhatsApp / ICQ..... alternatives with encrypted OTR chat possibilities
video calling alternative based on XMPP or SIP (instead of skype and general video calls)
The apps for this are all there as free software. I just would compile everything in one CWM-flashable ROM that's ready to use.
Interest anyone?
In the first thoughts the following software would apply:
Based on stripped down (because ram matters in terms of fc and huge games) CyanogenMod 9

k9 mail: https://code.google.com/p/k9mail/

I am interested in this! Even if there isn't much interest and you end up not making the rom, please post the names of the apps that it would contain for those interested

I wish this idea would kick into high gear. After reading "No Place To Hide", I think it's time for a ROM with enough encryption and privacy options to make all of us safe.

the thing is you would be forced to use other services than that you are used to and that are common. you would have to say goodbye facebook, google, instagram and i dont know what most people use nowadays to give away their rights. as you can see in terms of replys - there are nearly none. no one with this device seem to be interested about that issue.
you would need to use services like jabber/xmpp instead of skype for example and tell your friends about the opportunity. it would be in interest for everyone but the effort for most people is too big.
and what you say about a safe phone - it's not even marginal possible. you can just encrypt your data so nobody can listen what you do. as you use a phone you can still be tracked by your phone number, other services you use with your browser, by blind sms messages used by feds...
edit: just check the first post. there are some alternatives. you can modify your phone like delete everything with the name google, facebook ......... in it and services / apps that require authentication and are calling home. there are several apps you can use to delete system applications and services. then install some new apps via f-droid that respect your privacy like some i mentioned in the first post

[Q] [REQUEST] AnyDash Pro functions but requires root

Hey guys,
This is my first post so I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong section.
I wanted to see if any devs were up to it to create an application like AnyDash Pro that would be specifically for rooted phones.
I've noticed many times that while using AnyDash, I don't always get notifications for my applications, whereas, using the WhatsApp Extension (requires root) I always get a notification.
I presume this is to do with how the WhatsApp extension is getting access to notifications of other applications. I'm not a developer but I suppose having SuperUser permissions would result in an overall improvement of an application like AnyDash Pro?
Would it be possible to make one please?
Thanks for reading!

[Q] Email digital signature and encryption

I have a couple Email Digital Certificates (.p12) that I use to sign and encrypt emails from my desktop. I would like to start using them on my phone, but cannot seem to find any options in the native HTC Email app. I got them installed in the security settings on the phone, but just cannot find an option to use them in my emails. I have also tried using K-9, but cannot find an option within that app either.
So, is there any way to digitally sign and/or encrypt emails within the native email app?
If not, are there any reputable, trustworthy 3rd party apps in the app store that have this capability?
Oh and not sure if it actually matters, but I have the VZW variant One M8....
Thanks in advance,
Kratos

I think I finally figured this out. Android (for some very strange reason) doesn't actually support digital signatures or encryption with email natively. Therefore, one MUST use a third party app to process encrypted or digitally signed emails.
I have checked out R2Mail2 as a possible solution and am thus far liking it. There were a couple other options (but only a couple I could find) and they either had very low reviews or were requesting permissions that just didn't make sense. In fact one of them actually tried to explain why they needed permissions to view call logs, but weren't convincing enough for me so I skipped over it.
I also have a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and it supposedly supports certificates natively (something Samsung added themselves), but I guess it doesn't support S/MIME with the .p12 extension as it continues to tell me that there are no files found on my device.
If anyone has any other solutions that are better than having to use (and pay for) a 3rd party app, please do tell.
Thanks Kratos

No one has any ideas about native S/MIME support?
Kratos
I've been looking into this for a while... and I think you already found the best solution. R2Mail2 handles both S/MIME and PGP. I haven't seen any other good options for S/MIME. K9 + APG can give you PGP. There used to be a simple native mail app that would do PGP, but it looks like thats been pulled by Google.

[Q] permissions manager vs ApOps

I am currently using the app called "Permission Manager". I got it since I'm rather frustrated by all the permissions that the apps claim. Why on earth would the Power app - I guess that's the system app controlling the battery - need to know my location? It certainly does not need it to work - I know that since I have all possible location-related settings on my phone switched off. And that's just one example. Every other app wants to read my contacts. And what's up with the "phone identity"? Does a task list really need that? I can scribble a to-do list on a piece of paper and it won't ask for my pen's identity, right?
Anyways, the Permission Manager integrates itself into Settings->Apps. If I click on any app, it would say "App ops" on top of the screen. I have read however, that App Ops have been disabled. Now, this manager is only able to change some of the permissions, not all of them. And it misses the most important one - net access. Perhaps there is a logical reason for the flashlight app to need net access and location information, but I'm not seeing it. That's why I'd like to have an app that will have a white list of things that are allowed to use the network.
So, is there anything more advanced than the Permission Manager? Mind you, my phone is completely stock, not rooted, locked bootloader, etc.

Question Issue Connecting Samsung Health Monitor on Google Pixel 6 Pro

Hello
This is my first venture on this forum!
I have been following the XDA post about how to install Samsung Health Monitor on a Samsung Watch 5 and get it working on my Google Pixel 6 Pro. So far I managed to install the modified app on my phone, and also get the modified app on my watch but when I go into the ECG or Blood Pressure Monitor on my watch and try to connect to my phone I get a pop up on the phone that asks me to confirm my google account, and then when I select the account I get a message saying 'Document Lookup Failed'
Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve this?
Many thanks in advance!
I have a pixel watch, and am very interested in anything health related on modern technology
I'd recommend asking in the general q&a subforum though. I hope you get it working
Have you also installed health connect? You should check it out
