Hi to everyone at this great website
I rooted my phone and everything has been working fine until yesterday i was trying to take pictures and was not able to take any at all and was getting an error that the evo was not able to access the sd card then I tried connecting it to my computer to see if there was anyway to access it through it and was unsuccessfull.
Please help without the files in the sd card I don't know if I can restore the phone back to factory settings if I need to return the phone
Please any one who can help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
I know this is like not helpful at this point, but I would recommend when u get this taken care of that you make a complete backup of you SD card with the nandroid backups and original restoration on a computer in case.this ever happens again. I did this and was saved when my SD card died on me. Good luck.
I bet there's a stock image out there somewhere.

Thanks for your comments, I hope other people can post other ideas as to how to recover from this problem.
Please help
Any one has any other recommendations? My problem is it doesn't detect the card at all. By the way I did made a copy of all the files the were in the SD card, but the problem is I can't copy to the SD card because it doesn't detect the card. I have even tried formating the card and that still didn't work.
Have you installed the OTA update? It was supposed to take care of this issue. Have you tried another SD card?
I just tried another card and it works then I tried the evo SD card im my blackberry and it doesn't work there either, so my conclusion is that the evo card is corrupted I can't even format it.
By the way once you root your phone I can't update unless it was the SD card problem not sure.
Thanks for your response
If you haven't installed the OTA update then I would just in case it is the problem. There is a rooted version here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=697636.

Even if you are a noob, you should give more information. I asked you to check a option in the preferences, you didn't.
Tell us exactly what you've done BEFORE the sd card stoped working. The more information you'll give, the more answers you'll probably become.
o sorry ok i flashed the froyo rom that was for 2.51 everything loaded fine and when it comes on it says preparing sd card then it says sd card safe to remove i go to sd card and storage settings and click mount sd card and it does the prepare then safe to remove thing again
is this a new SD Card, or the default?
the default 2gb
I would try to format the SD card. This can only be done when it is unmounted. If this all doesn't work, I would try to access the SD card on a USB Cardreader, to see if its broken...
thanks well i went back to my old rom and it works now so no froyo for me just yet guess ill just wait till after to work tommorow to see again gotta sleep wayyy past my bedtime lolo thank you so much for your help
Glad to hear you worked it out...
good night
Hey all,
Today I've finally unlocked my bootloader and installed DoomKernel. So far it's amazing.
I do have a question though, it's about the SD Card. There's so much junk on my SD Card, I just want to clean it up but what would be the best way to do so?
Is it really as simple as My Computer > Right click Phone's SD Card > Format?
Or are there some system apps I should be wary of?
I've tried some quick searches with no luck..
Thanks in advance!
I suggest use SD Formatter 3.1
You will feel the change !
Nevermind, solved.

What are you using on your PC to format your SD? I always use this, and have never had any problems with it. It is free, so you might as well give it a try.

Is there a "Read/Write" switch on the SD Card? Check on the side of the card, maybe it's placed into Read-only which prevents you from formatting/writing to it
That is "IF" it has one that is...

I can't say anything about the RAMDUMP never did that so I don't know what it's supposed to do or what it does to SD Card.
Maybe try to see if you can get it formatted on a Linux system? But even downloading a live disk is still a lot of trouble to go through just to format a card
I thought maybe it could just have been write protection on the adapter that came with the SD Card. The small card itself won't have it but the adapter that you get with the card has the switch.
