Put in a different simcard instead of VZW sim card and you will be able to.
That is what I did in Europe on my old Galaxy S4.

[Search] Registry values for APN

Hi Gurus.
Iam searching a way to change with an application of mine the APN on my phone.
Did anyone find this already?
Thanks for help.
interested in one. i know its hidden somewhere in the registry.
Which APN are you referring to? The GPS APN or the Carrier APN setting?
If its carrier APN, its stored on the Phone Modem if my memory serves right.
I can write a small App for both, if you want (using the AT command). Unfortunately, it will be only for Dell Venue Pro.

Just curious, can't you do that under the 'Add APN' option under the Settings->Cellular ?

Yes, that's what I do now.
But, I use Simple Mobile (a sub-lease of T-Mobile) and when I need anything that uses data, it takes a long time to connect, once it connects it goes fast. I tried using a T-Mobile sim and everything was fast, I have used my sim on a HD2 with WM6.5, android and WP7 and it was also fast, which made me think that since the T-Mobile APN settings are coded in the phone (because it is a locked phone) it tries to connect to T-Mobile first every time and only after that it uses my APN and it is driving me crazy.
I hope you can help.
Thanks.

Kitkat update on net10 att issues no mms

I have an LG opitmus G pro e980 on net10 att sim card.
Since the kitkat update android version 4.4.2, I have lost all mms.
I have noticed that you cannot set the APN type, which is greyed out and set at default.
Is there anyway around this issue or would I have to root.
If I would have to root could someone show me where to find the root for my phone with the current update. Minding that I am not to tech savvy when it comes to phones, if it could be like a rooting for dumbies, that would be fantastic,
Thanks for any replies and or assistance.

I have Net10 ATT simcard as well. After upgrading to KK I did add new apn and it worked fine. Never had any mms or data problem
Don't try to edit existing apn instead add new one.
I'm on the same page but with straight talk from at&t, when I create new APN the apn type at the very bottom is greyed out. Please help xda community

So you are saying you cannot add a new APN? I have TMobile and I didn't have any APN so I had to go to Menu and add APN and then save it.
New APN can be added

No, you can add a new APN. As I stated originally, everything else works well and fine as it always did. It is just the mms. From my research, this has happened to a lot of contract customers as well, but on the LG G2. I havent found anything on the GPro with contract people.
You are able to adjust all propterties in the network settings except APN Type, It is greyed out and you cannot change it. It currently says default.
I had the same issue after i updated to 4.2.2 on my phone. I am using Net10 with an at&t sim in it. I had to root and follow some instructions i had found on how to get the apn type frm being greyed out. As soon as i find it i will post a link.
heres the link i used and found, just follow the directions and it will work...

Compatible Data Carriers in Canada

So I just got the phone yesterday, and I noticed that data on it didn't work, but calling and texting did. My data plan is under Rogers, so I went to a Rogers Wireless store, and they couldn't make data work, as it apparently couldn't connect to their APN. I was wondering if this was a software issue, where it wouldn't accept an APN from any service provider, or if the phone just doesn't work with Roger's data specifically?
Also, if anyone in BC has gotten the data working on their Red Magic 5G, how did you do that, and what's your service provider?
Try again. Im on Videotron in Quebec, took me several tries to finally to get to save the apn. Roaming data for Videotron is on Rogers network. Tested and working in Ontario.
Although, carriers in BC might use other lte bands. ?
Working without any hassle or need to setup the APN configuration with Public Mobile on their LTE network.
There were some mentioning the APN setup page isn't clear, especially is you're using dark mode.
Rogers APN settings should be readily available so you can edit/input yourself.

You need to use an app called MyNewAPN to add the APN settings. For whatever reason you can't do it through the APN menu.

MyNewAPN? I can't find an app of that exact name in the google play store. Could you link me to a page where I can download it?

Question APN Settings?

Hey,
I've successfully added an unsupported eSIM to my Pixel Watch.
My issue is that my carrier requires custom APN settings, so currently I can only make phone calls, but have no data..
When I go to the mobile data settings on my PW, I can see an entry for APN, but it's just an empty menu.
Any way of customizing those settings?
Could you

Ordered an eSIM from Vodafone Germany online. After adding the eSIM I was able to add a plan to my watch via the app.
Same eSim now in the watch but no APN and I can't edit or add one.
A long time ago I had problems with APNs for my prepaid carriers not being in android's APN database and would have similar problems (calls only, no data).
At that time, Android stored a list of "all" know APNs in an XML files like this: /system/etc/apns-conf.xml
I was able to download an app on the phone itself, open this file and add whatever APNs I wanted. Then later in the phone settings, my newly added APNs would be available to choose from.
Of course, the main issues being the probable differences between android back then and today...plus differences with Wear.
Back in those days, I found that if I put in an AT&T sim card, android would automatically force the settings from the XML or .db file. If you could find out what APN is being used in that file, you could modify it's details. Does anyone know if Wear uses a similar APN file format as android in the past?
Actually, I just found another post where someone was able to access/modify the telephony database in Wear OS 2.0, but requires root.
How to modify your APN to support an MVNO (FreedomPop, etc)
This guide will cover enabling a custom APN to support MVNO's (FreedomPop, Ting, etc) on your LG Urbane 2 for Android Wear 2.0. Prerequisites: Root watch (I recommend this thread) ADB minimal and fastboot Linux system A little bit of SQL...

Have you tried turning of WiFi and bluetooth for awhile on the clock to make it get the apn? I have an unsupported carrier on my watch and everything loaded just fine when you disconnected the watch from the phone

Hi @Shebee
I've exactly your same issue, I've add my no supported eSim to my Pixel watch using a VodafoneDE esim.
That was tricky but has worked!
The issue is that I found the apn setting page that is blank... have you find any solution in this weeks?
Regards

Yes i have abandoned this for now. I don't want to bother switching just for the smartwatch.
Hello. I activated LTE on the watch. But the APN is incorrect. LTE works partially. Notifications come, YouTube music works (without connecting to the phone and wifi of course). But google assistant does not work, writes: "No internet connection". Why can this be so?
I think I understand why the Internet is so bad. In the APN settings, a proxy server is specified, which is no longer used by the provider. Is there any way to edit the APN?
