Hi, just installed the OTA from 4.4.4 to 5.0 and...
I've noticed when using the devices the wifi signal drops completely and then (near) instantly comes back.
Is this common?
I've actually noticed it a lot when the device has been idle 10+ minutes, when i turn the screen on signal icon shows absolutely none.
Anybody else getting this?
Nope none here... Flashed factory images with full wipe all is fine.

No. Stupid question. Do you have WiFi set to turn off during sleep?

No. Never have since I got it and never will since it's used for all sorts of notifications. I've seen the signal disappear completely during normal use when browsing too, never saw it once on 4.4.x

I didn't think so. ...I haven't had that problem on the AOSP ROMS or the stock release.

Someone posted same issue this morning. He flashed without wiping. He hasn't reposted. I had various issues by trying to avoid flashing user data.img. Full flash with wipe fixed everything.

Thanks for that.
Yeah I just installed the OTA when it came through to the N7...guess I'll fully erase and re-flash the 5.0 factory image and see if that solves it...sigh why can't anything ever be simple?

Well, it should have been with the OTA. You might want to try sideloading the zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380113, post 353). Youtube has videos explaining procedure if needed. It's not dead simple but might avoid a wipe.

After the ICS update on my non-rooted phone, the phone seems to be freezing
up and becoming unresponsive. After a while it looks like the radio "resets", all
the icons disappear in the top bar (signal, wifi, data) and it shows no service.
Then slowly one by one they all come back and I can use the phone again.
Sometimes I receive the "System is not responding" dialog box, but not always.
There is not one particular program it is doing this in, it can be something as
simple as pulling down the notification bar that will cause the freeze.
Any suggestions are appreciated, I couldn't find anyone else with the same issue.
Thanks.
Try:
Turn off phone
Take out SIM
Put SIM back
Turn on
I've had my phone act weird with respect to signal, wifi and data when this was the issue. Worth a shot, at the very least.

Thank you for the response.
Tried this and had the system is unresponsive issue right on reboot. If I do a
factory reset, does it reset to the current firmware or what was originally on the
phone (probably a really stupid question). I wonder if some other program isn't
ICS compatible and is doing something in the background. Doesn't look like
anyone else is having this same issue.

If you do a factory reset and it was the standard Kies legit update from Tmo, it won't downgrade your phone - will just re-install a fresh copy of your ICS. Did you do a restore of apps from your last version (gb?) with data? That could cause problems I would think..

Yes I did the legit update on Kies, standard stock phone un-rooted.
Do I need to backup pictures before the reset, its been a while since
I had to do this.
At this point, I think its worth a try to wipe it clean and clear out all the
data.

wipe the dalvik cache and cache then reboot
I did a factory reset and that solved the issue.
Thanks for all the assistance.
I've done a factory reset and wiped the cache more than once already and i still get a force close or unresponsive, enough that its really irritating me now. Any advice? And also, when texting, the typing responds very slow.

Are you letting it sit for like 10 minutes during first boot after factory reset then reboot again before setting up. Its likely that some scripts are running from the initial installation and you need to let it rot until its done..
I did exactly that, thanks for the advice. Hoping that may fix the problem. I wiped the cache and factory reset, then let the phone sit for a good while before going through the play store and re-installing everything.
This issue just resurfaced again. The last 2 days I am getting the freezing, radio reboot and android process not responding.
No one else having this issue?
I think I'm in the same boat. I was stock GB, and just did the mini OTA update (which was great). A few days later ICS became available via Kies from T-Mobile, and I "upgraded".
Since the upgrade my phone is laggy, screen is significantly less responsive and also my battery life is less than before.
I have NOT done a factory reset of my phone yes (plan on doing that today), but even with that I have read that performance does not improve.
Ideally, I would love to return back to the stock tmobile gb firmware. However, even after literally 2 hours of reading I can't find the "how-to" and files I need.
I would appreciate any assistance.
t989 chip lags
ive notice this happen on my tmobile galaxy s2. i think it has to do with the Qualcomm chip on tmobiles stock roms.
When i had sprint i bought my girlfriend a galaxy s2 on the sprint network which runs the samsung exynos chip. She never complained about any lag or freezing whatsoever. I then left sprint because of their garbage network and joined tmobile.
bought 2 galaxy s2s and i noticed the lag almost immediately. The phone has random lag spikes as well as freezing and force closes. It had it on stock gingerbread and it has it on stock ICS too.
My girlfriend complains about freezing all the time so i decided to root her phone too. Right now im testing DarkSides v7 rom and if its pretty good in performance i will flash her phone with it too. So far it has been pretty snappy and everything works.

Because you are on stock ics (im guessing you are..), you can just follow that guide and flash the UVLDE update.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a try. But it really shouldn't be necessary on a phone that's got more going for it than the stock nexus that 1st came out with ics.
There's something else going on.
Sent from, The Eclectic Chair.
My problem: randomly stumbled upon the notorious phantom menace radio signal antenna drop that plagues jelly bean owners. My particular case ; if i opted to turn off "data" to save power etc then every five minutes the antenna would drop for maybe thirty seconds then come back (all actions monitored via gs battery monitor app).
What I tried previous to my supposed "fix ":
-I'm running cross platform roms currently synergy, knowing that I figured it was my d2att recovery image which I later flashed, it fixed my build.prop but that was it
-flashed back to stock recovery... No go (fyi I've owned the phone since it was new back in August, ran jb for months with no issues until several weeks ago when this began
-flashed and wiped many roms several times over with no fix
-flashed every Att fix possible along with the pages of thread research that went with it
- worked about every angle of network settings I could've imagined
It wasn't until recently I had decided to disable the phones stock power saving switch when I realized my antenna was stable once again! Upon toggling it back on the problem will resume.
update... this hasn't fixed **** as of now. don't know what happened it was working fine now it's back to its same ****.smh....
the only choice I have is to leave data on :_(

I recently discovered that this trick does work but it's intermittent. in order to stabilize the antenna I believe the connection had to of held a steady 4g signal for a brief period before killing power save them the data. but once that's accomplished its good until power is cycled off. it's weird, can anyone make sense of this?

Hi,
I'm experiencing random reboots since I've upgraded to OOS 4.0.x (I've had them since 4.0.0, but I've got them too on 4.0.1). My friend has the same issue. I think its weird that I find very little about this issue. I think it happens the most when switching from LTE/4G/Mobile to WiFi and vice-versa. I can not say that the reboots only occur when switching.
OnePlus support suggested me to do a clean flash of the rom. (Isn't that the same as a factory reset? I did not have tampered with my phone.. Everything is stock. (ROM / Kernel..) Even the device is not rooted and the bootloader is still locked..
Are there other people who have this issue?

Your suspect with network/wifi switch could be right as my network quality is quite bad and it jumps around quite frantically. I did clean flash but still issue persists

Nope, I got a Chinese one too and i have really got issues with that random reboots, because my alarms dont work anymore after a reboot.
I'm on Open Beta 10 and have the same issue, on a clean flash. See screenshot attached. Not sure what's going on. Phone was plugged in each time but one.
Collegue of mine has the same issue, (also OnePlus3), other friend of mine has also the same rebooting issue. (OnePlus3).
It's weird that I don't find as much information on the internet regarding it..

No, but you may be installing an app that is causing it. Try replicating the issue in safe mode. Ruling that out, if you have done a clean install using the full image (not ota) and allowed it to wipe your data there is not much more to do before contacting Google. A clean install restores your phone to its "out of the box" state. If the problem persists, it is likely hardware related. You can try a factory reset from the stock recovery... that is the first thing they will insist you do before processing an RMA.

I didn't have the issue on Pie and haven't installed any additional apps. It mainly happens after I haven't used the device for a while. It feels like it won't wake up so I have to hold the power button to force a reboot.

Yes.
I was just peaking to a buddy with a 2xl and he is having the same issue since 10.
I have an issue where after about two day of it being on it will start to stutter, and then after a couple hours it reboots itself. It's done it since 10 was released. Never had an issue on 9. Now I proactively reboot it once I notice the stuttering. Kind of sucks since 9 was super stable for me. No new apps, and no settings were changed. Just updated to 10, and it started. Kind of like memory is leaking causing it to stutter/freeze, but the last patch they said they fixed the leak. Guess not.

I just had a random reboot while taking my dog for a walk. Was only listening to SiriusXM. Think I'm going back to Pie until Google gets the kinks ironed out on 10.
https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/14074635?hl=en
Booted into safe mode last night and had to force a reboot this morning to get the screen to respond. This is definitely an issue with 10 and not an app. I'm going back to Pie since having my phone turn off every night is unacceptable, especially since my phone is my alarm clock.
I took the OTA before setting up my new P3XL on A10 and don't have any issues. You might try wiping data then restore apps without data.

I flashed the A10 Oct factory image and wiped data. Still have the issue. The only thing that fixes it is going back to Pie.
So this happened to me twice now since being on 10. My screen would go black while using the phone, and then the phone would be unresponsive, so I would need to force a reboot, but after the Google splash screen it goes into recovery, and this message shows "Could not load Android OS. You can try again, or factory reset.". I did "Try again" both times, and it booted fine. Really irks me since I can't afford to do a factory reset since I use a lot of apps that have special info in them (Like Google Auth App that has many devices I need, and resetting I would have to redo every device). I hope Google can fix these issues with the next update.
I think my issue is due to the sensor bug that was introduced in 10. I have disabled the sensors on my phone and it hasn't froze since!! Hopefully Google fixes on the Nov update.
I'm having the issue that after my screen turns off, after a certain amount of time, I cannot get it to turn back on. The phone is still on, but is unresponsive to my input. I have to hard reset.
I have tried reflashing, and tried disabling sensors. I did not have an issue with the 10 September updated, but since updating to the November update, I had the issue non-stop all day.
Platform-Tools fully updated, not using gesture navigation, but the 2-button.
@MeetFace, yes! Same here since the November update. Something isn't right.
I'm still dealing with the black screen issue. Nov update didn't fix it.

Update, I read in a thread somewhere that disabling darkmode fixed it for one person (rando I know).
I created a tasker script that disables darkmode once the screen shuts off, and enables it when it turns back on. So far, no BSOD this morning (4 hrs)

Checked around the internet and this problem seemed to be quite common.
WiFi could not be switched on. See the YouTube link below at 1:20mins.
Question: has anybody tried to Odin reflash it to the same/latest firmware. No rooting or anything fancy, just reflash the same firmware.
I had this issue after updating to the latest firmware but I don’t think the issue happened right after updating. Probably a few days later. I was hoping if this could fix the issue.
Thanks.
Update.
I tried it myself via Odin updates to the latest/same firmware for my region.
Problem not fixed. Same thing. WiFi still doesn't turn on.
Same situation here. Wifi not turning on.
it was working while phone was in folded mode.
As soon as open, wifi won't work. Then phone goes to restarting.
Did factory reset and no help.
Came here hoping to reflash old stock firmware to see if it will work, but you have answered above.
I read on some of forum and one guy sent in to Samsung and they changed screen and it is working like a new one.
Maybe some to do with wifi antenna built in to the screen or something?!
Coincidentally I have the person installed a new screen protection and that person didn't know well and rubbed hell out of screen. That was about a few days before my wifi went out.
????
What do you think? Maybe relate it, or not?
P.S. I have less hair on my head now and not cause of being old (66).
99% is software related.
anybody has installed oneui 5.1 and still facing this issue?

This looks like a hardware problem to me. Something inside is disturbing the WiFi radio when you unfold the phone.
