Mine shows total space 4.04GB . It's normal. Stock rom might show 8GB, but cm based roms show only the space available to you excluding the system files. Can you post screenshots?

It is okay if it shows 4.04 gb of memory...as that is the maximum storage space available.
You must have installed apps that's why now its showing 1.5gb left..

I think you backed up the rom using rom manager.
It use internal memory but it doesn't show
I checked my dads grand lol. It shows total memory 8gb. But my aogp ROM shows memory excluding system required memory.
So don't worry about it. Just clear memory by uninstalling apps and moving files to SD card.

i have a htc wildfire which comes with a 512mb of internal memory. but as soon as i got my phone of the market, it shows only 90mb left under phone memory. i do understand that this comes from the built in phone apps, data, cache and etc. but i need an easy solution to free up the memory as it could slow down my phone. any help?
ps: my phone is on 2.2.1 froyo and hboot 1.01 so yeah i can't root it! :x
It doesn't come with 512 MB internal memory, but, with 175 MB. So, having ~100 MB on a stock phone is normal.
You are probably mixing up some other space (ROM, I think), with the internal memory.

You can look up any mobile spec listing site (Eg: GSMArena). It is clearly listed there 512 MB is the ROM Size on the Wildfire, not its internal memory.
Besides, I think the amount of internal memory can be seen under Settings also on the Stock ROM as well. (Not sure, since it has been months since I have been running the stock ROM), but, on CM7, it clearly shows Available Internal Storage and Total Internal Storage. (Which is 175MB)

yeah gsmarena shows that it has 384 MB of RAM and 512 MB of ROM. didn't say anything about internal memory. on the stock ROM it only shows the available internal storage space, nothing for total. so i couldn't figure out what was the total internal storage size..hehe
anyway thank for the info, it sure relieved me to some point guess i have to wait for the root to come. go unRevoked!
go unRevoked! +1 this

WRONG.
If you are on 2.2, you probably have HBOOT 1.01 wich cant be rooted. Its about HBOOT, not android version.
Weird problem never had it before. All apps get sorted to the devices memory which is only 2 gb... eventually I get msg space running out cant sync, update or dowbload more apps... shouldbnt the apps be downloading onto the device usb storage itself which is 14-16gb??? Under settings , storage I get 2 gb device memory, 16 gb device usb storage and 16 gb sd card external storage and yet everything goes to the 2 gb partition... what the hell..?! I heard something about a wiping script. Im using the twrp recovery.. help?

Correct me if i am wrong, but with all android phones, the internal storage is partitioned. 2 gigs are used for downloaded apps, another couple of gigs are used for the system and the rest of the remaining storage is used for the downloaded data within the apps.
Also try moving some of your apps to the SD card. It will help free up some storage in that 2gb partition.

Ou might be right for the partitions but ive never had this problem before. I think something messed up perhaps the partitions? I moved all my apps to the sd card the problem is still there. The bigger storage in the phone just iant being utilized or sonething like that.. I was on the embryo rom for good 4 -5 months had ****load of apps and never had an issue.. been running jedi rom for a few weeks and encoutered this problem. It just doesnt make sence.

I had this same issue on jmt v5, I have no idea what caused it or how to fix it I tried everything, it's like the Rom won't store anything anywhere but the system partition, it's very strange, I switched to embryo Rom by Mohan, all the great touchwiz stuff, very fast and stable, only difference is no Wi-Fi calling, but if u can handle that go flash embryo, best touchwiz Rom I've seen to date

I just installed CyanogenMod 10.1, but I noticed it takes about 6gb of space, I have the 16GB Note 2 version, which is actually more like 11GB, with stock rom it was about 4gb. Is this normal?
Don't you have content on the internal storage?

Nope, all my music/photos are on the SD card. That's why it seems weird to me that after wiping everything and doing a fresh install, I have 6 out of 11gb used

It is so. Even when it shows 8gb Internal storage in stock ROM, actual available memory is 4gb only. The other 4gb is reserved by system.

Currently you don't have the permission to write.
That's file manager wasn't pre installed.
Hope it gets fixed in the next OTA update.
If you want to use IT NOW then I'll suggest you go for any custom ROM..!
The internal memory i.e 2.1 GB approx i dedicated to app installation only. This is one of the drawback in the Android One smartphones.
